  • i love nik kershaw, lovin the hair!!

  • 'Wouldn't It Be Good' was played on the radio constantly in 84-85 and I was like 'meh', and then he played this at Live Aid and I was 'wow, who is this guy? he's good!'

  • More to the point, what is Don Quixote doing in England?

  • nik the legend where is he now

  • wow, what an awesome song!

  • Next time I'm going to the barbers I'm getting my hair cut like Nik Kershaws.

  • @trafotevoli A couple years ago I actually did it :D

  • Nik Kershaw is coming to my hometown :D Can't wait!

  • this song has more hooks than any howard jones lp.

  • i've never seen awesome, gr8 song.

  • Adore to bits

  • @giguchan yea man wtf, need to change the world all over again. BRING BACK THE MULLET WE NEED IT!

  • Sheri is looking fab ;) x

  • Before I like most of the songs of Nik Kershaw I must listen it two times, and after the first time it is hanging in my head somewhere. By this song, it was some different. I listened it a long time ago, two of three years I think. I did not like ik. Not so long ago listened it again (I was thinking of buying the single of it). I didn´t like it much again. I dont know why, but not so long later I listened again (the third time) and if I must be honest: What a good song.

  • His working with Tony banks was really meant to be very early on.

  • brill takes me back to my school days . the not a care in the world days xxxxxxx

  • @giguchan Uhm did you forget the achy breaky heart renaissance for the mullet? :P

  • @VulpeLunatica I think i heard of it.. did the vocalist have a mullet too? was that country music?

  • @VulpeLunatica yes that was country music ( which i don't care for_) and it was also a very low point for the genre..

  • Nik's best song and video out of all of the good ones he did. He's quite the song writer, musician and actor in his vids.

  • Wonderful. I recalled it slightly different.

    Nonetheless, Nik is great.

  • Nik Kershaw twirled his finger over TV sets and invented 3D movies. You can see him do it at 1:56

  • WTF!!

  • Nik Kershaw IS Mr 80s! Did he write both the lyrics and the music?

  • @bunclip Yes he did

  • Bsssline!!

  • @giguchan Strange thing is... nobody called it a mullet in the 80s. The word mullet came much later.

  • @Darwinion How right you are!!! I never heard of it untill i started dating a woman much my junior... guess that will teach me... all she did was to comment on the 80'S and the fashion..

  • Never seen this video before! Of course I have the album and love it. Very entertaimning video ;)

  • the 80's were so inoscent

  • jocking with your kindly riddles one hearing his wonderful songs...and origina tests..really I would be happy how to be continue?? kisses

  • THAT was one of the coolest hairstyles from the 80's!

  • @giguchan 70s.

  • Azzzzzzzzz !

Nick ha i capelli che sono più alti di lui....

    Nick

  • That is the scariest hair i ever see

  • @linktheown ??

  • @HughStirling Actually, the bass line is not that great. Listen to an artist called Deadmau5, and then talk to me about bass lines.

  • 2.03 CUTE OR WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can his outfit stay white as white? He's so . . utterly . . peng . . ahh . .

  • @HughStirling I totaly agree.

  • @HughStirling the bass line is superb...... and the key changes are quite cool too

  • Nik Kershaw = Makita from Dragon Boll Z

  • The genius in this song: the pedaled G harmony on '...PROUD, ARE WE...' and '...SHOUTING AT...'

    Makes this song very special

  • @jefferyeffery I love the DX7 and the horn parts always throw me off the 1. such a good song

  • @doubts Yep, feeling ya there :) With the horn riff in the intro and after the chorus, if you practice clicking a 4/4 beat on your left hand and a 3/4 beat in your right hand, it's the same kinda premise to keeping the 1 in that section; you get a hit slightly late, another slightly early, and the other exactly on the 4/4.

  • oh my god its joe jonas.

    hahaha

  • I don't know what's best - the bassline or Nik's mullet?

  • @stuartk319 the mullet lol

  • i just cant get over his gawjus looks.

  • who's the dude at the start painting?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!! but the video is soo weird lol

  • AHHH HIS HAIR!!!!!!

    Nik Kershaw's a fucking legendd!!

    I love him PENGERZZ

  • Disturbing

  • @MrF1alonso how is that disturbing ?!!!

  • ure mind can play tricks

  • wow i am 13 i just met this guys songs and shit and frankley begining of this song is fkin scary but great music better than beiber fag

  • @daryll51023 14 here. agreed. nik is awesome m8.

  • @dyjsz true, he's fucking genius.

    and peng.

  • This BLOWS!

  • @MackBruce12 And what's wrong with sucking :) Pull your lip over your head and swallow :) Have a nice bloody day <3

  • Absolutley loves this guy! The song is great, the video is weird, but still so great. And his haircut makes a lot of it too, no doubt of that! :D Brilliant, mr Kershaw! ^^

  • Comment removed

  • I'm just brilliant!

  • hmmm, yoo pasi volt anno az énekes. kár, hogy nem akkor éltem. :-S

  • Why is it whenever I'm looking for something about Don Quixote on youtube(like films or documentaries) all I get is some shitty music videos

  • @terminator847 Hmm, possibly because Don Quixote is a fictional character in a novel, instead of going to Youtube try cracking the spine of a book perhaps? Otherwise you can expect to keep getting, you guessed it, videos, go figure right? Besides, you can't search for a documentary on Don Quixote because a documentary documents non fiction, not fiction.

  • @rjackman1981 There's lots of documentaries about other fictional stuff on youtube, like the one about ancient aliens building the pyramids. And I once saw a documentary on Discover Civilization channel about Don Quixote(that's how I came to know him and bought the book). A documentary can be about anything.

And there's also been many movies about him, notably the famous russian one made in the Soviet Union.

  • Another of Nik's weird and wonderful video's. Lovin' the full 1985 hair-do here...

  • THAT DUDE IS SCARY XD

  • Quite Salvador Dali-ish in the beginning :) Never saw the music vid before. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • back beat is frankies welcome to the pleasuredome...

  • nik kershaw always uses to remind me of adrian heath who played for everton f.c in the 80s, just thought id share that with ya

  • I remember this video but couldn't understand so wull, because I was only 14 yo.

Now I can say: BRILLIANT !

I like all songs from Nik and I must say his videos were bery good. In that times each music from the album should have a video, if they wanted a place in the Top Music.

He's great and keeps going...I hope someday to get one of he's concerts.

  • Nik was always good in making video clips, especially first two albums, bravo Nik!!!

  • This is SOOOO cool. I'd forgotten how much I loved Nik's songs and I remember playing his first album over and over!

  • This really takes me back. The video is just pure cheese, the song is just PURE

  • This song has some direct ties to the original novel "Don Quixote." For example, Don Quixote was from the region of La Mancha, which is likely were the video takes place, and also lead to the last line of the song "We're all men of La Mancha." There is also a famous scene in the novel where the Don Quixote character (or the man on the horse in the video) has a sword fight with a windmill and looses. That also lead to the line in the chorus "Are we shouting at windmills like you."

  • @giguchan - It still is at Jiffy Lube! ;-) (Joke courtesy of Patton Oswalt)

  • It looks like Mc Gyver XD

  • Loved Nik's music when I was growing up and still do. Brilliant tuns and amazing videos. Love this one especially when Don Quiote is fighting the windmills. Classic interpretation of literature.

  • Loved his music a lot when I was a teenager.

  • video grabdo en el castillo de BELMONTE CUENCA ESPAÑA y LOS MOLINOS DE MOTA DEL CUERVO CUENCA ESPAÑA,ole el salero español

  • some of the comments on here remind me of a badge i had of Nik as a kid. a girl a couple of years older than me used to want to look at it all the time, she was gorgeous but the badge got the kisses not me :-(

  • the girl with Don Quixote on the video is his wife Sheri who also dd the chorus

  • well was his wife at least, sarah has the honour these days.

  • I was an 80s teen and he was sooooo cute, and all the best things come in small packages :-)

  • Bit special this one....

  • wow.. I'd forgotten ALL the intro -- especially how DARK Nik's eyebrow was

  • he is so cute; isn't he? :D a real good looker, and with such a nice voice to boot. hahah XD

  • haha if i were a teen girl back then i would definitely have had a HUGE crush on him :D his songs are great; i'm gonna try & hunt for the essential album or sth.

  • i love the hair!!!

  • I remember singing along to this a lot in 1986. I love the psychodramatic world Nik inhabits in his videos. The whole thing is irresistable. BTW most people in those days thought this was about a donkey called Hotay - no kidding ... :-)

  • yeah me too when i first heard the name :P i saw an interview where he talked about it and i honoustly thought it was Donkey Hotey

  • Thanks. That's hilarious!

  • lovin the captain planet haircut nik!

  • Its a shame nik was such a fashion victim

  • What does Don Quixote mean does anyone know thanks?

  • Don Quixote is a character in the book Don Quixote. Over all the man is crazy and keeps fighting battles he can't win. tilting at windmills is the term. the idea about the character is that some people don't know any better than to try and win fights they can't win.

  • thanks for the generous reply its interesting.

  • many years ago i saw a ballet version of the don quixote book, bloody good it was too.

  • Was it?

  • that would be shouting at windmills surely?

  • not shouting, but actually riding his horse at the windmills with a jousting rod, the title of the musical play is Man of La Mancha. check it out on wikipedia. Best regards.

  • malovich67, you are really good. Yes, that's what the Internet is for - sourcing information. And fantastic lyrics to go with, that's really food for thoughts. This is an era to behold. Glad to be around with you guys.

  • Imbecile

  • Don Quixote is a story of a delusional man who thinks he's a Spanish knight. He does a lot of chivalrous acts that are really considered insane, etc.

  • thank you for the reply. This was a hit in the 80s I cant believe its nearly 25 yrs ago.

  • @Forestamtul It was a fictional character that was in a book, if I remember. LOL

  • the fear of wind turbines

  • nik kershaw in portugal 29 may! =D can't wait

  • That video is a bit silly, but that is one seriously awesome tune. Thank you, Mr. Kershaw.

  • if you go on to nik's fans forum, run by mick wall, someone may well email you the song. i dont have it on a computer unfortunately

  • Hey this song is good and i quite like the video. He should be flipping popular

  • He was, back in the mid 80's when he did this and other songs! :)

  • What exactly is pretentious about this? A great song, a great video and a remarkably underrated musician.

  • I don't know which is sillier: the ridiculously pretentious video concept or the 'Mega-Mullett'. Great tune though and a fantastically underrated artist.

  • It's dissapointing that you can't find Nik on iTunes. He's so friggin' GOOD. What the heck happend to him? I never heard of him before a month ago.

  • my brother runs his fans forum. his albums are available on ebay. human racing - 1984. the riddle - 84. the works - 89. 15 minutes - 99. to be frank 2002. you've got to laugh - 06.

  • I have it, but i have no method of uploading it.

This song is one of the few highlights of The Riddle, which seems like a good album at first listen, but then you hear Human Racing and you're just blown away. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

  • I'd have to disagree - both albums have a lot going for them. I'm old enough to have been around in the 80s as a teenager and grow up to Nik's stuff. My first LP was "The Riddle", age 16. Human Racing had some awesome tracks on it, but don't discount The Riddle.

  • Nah sorry, dont have his albums. How can u not know who Ricky Martin is?

  • Also have u noticed Nick looks a bit like a cross between Ricky Martin and Nick Cave? Lol.

  • Who'd know sheepydee, you could employ pschiatrists to analyse Nik Kershaw videos and they'd still have trouble. Maybe Nik Kershaw videos should be a course at university.

  • it was egypt

  • Coast to coast wall to wall got to go duty calls here i am. Loving that line since 1985

  • Back to the 80´s. OMG

I was a big Fan of Nik in this time.

  • Lmao !

    Rofling hahahaaahahaa xD

Sorry that just really made me laugh I have no idea why xD

    =P (:

  • Who are the actors in this video?

    Great video!

  • Ah Peter Collins.... producer GOD!

  • Nice track and nice haircut :-)

  • where was this made???

  • A British Magazine interview from summer 1985 said it was Spain,as you'd expect but i can't recall off hand the actual town. The rest,i think, was North London.

  • lol wtf. maker of this must have been hella stoned

  • Don Quixote, what would you say?

  • Great bassline!

I've just started reading the Don Quixote novel, only another 900 pages to go lol!
