  • at least o the japanese version the tall bald guy has an animated srpite while jumping....

  • This looks like a live action Godfrey Ho movie adaptation!!

  • lol the sprites are really static, this must be really old nes game

  • Get Pockie Ninja Hacks Here : pockieninjahacks(dot)com at this website u can get level hacks , god mode hacks , golden bean generators and loads loads more for Free!!

  • whats the name of the music at 6:46???

  • This was my fav game when it came out! Thanks for the post

  • i still likes the famicom version, n the background music is nice too.....

  • Wait a minute, this is practically an NES version of Ninja Warriors!

    I smell shenanigans.

  • @MattTheSpratt it's more like a rippoff of the first Shinobi.

  • Very interesting.

  • *LOL* I loved this game as a kid.

  • i love this game...although my copy was stolen :(

  • Wow. I'm glad I had the best version when I was a kid. With the exception of the first level music, the Western version is completely better in all areas, especially the level complete music which one of the best pieces of music in an NES game period.

  • 3:11 he saved luke skywalker!? Holy crap. And yeah, japanese version ftw

  • Yeah right!

I was a nearly a kid then and coulnd know english good and that "s" instead of "g" was really odd! Hahaha! But I could play this game with blindfold ("Super Mario Bros." too).

    LoL! Memories...

  • @ :57, they got that face from "how to draw comics the marvel way"

  • lol jap's boss is funny, at least he isnt stiff.

  • Wow, took me a while to figure out the name of this game. I used to think it was Ninja gaiden so I checked all of the walkthroughs and nothing seemed familiar.. lol Nice vid.

Now.. To remember the name of another ninja game.. They seemed to fly from tree to tree.. Ahh this will take a while to figure out..

  • That game is most likely legend of kage for the nes. Check it out and lemme know.

  • yes! thanks rock and irish.

  • legend of kage

  • Wapanese Fan Boys:The Japanese is better.

  • This game challenging when i was a kid. i don't think this game was a rip-off of shinobi or ninja gaiden. it's a ninja game on it's on..

  • I loved Wrath of the Black Manta. Great game with a nice 80's atmosphere. That Japanese version looks and sounds ridiculous though.

  • I seriously like the graphics of Black Manta better than the ones from Saizou, Tiny looks more accurate on the U.S. version than he does on the Japanese one. I kinda agree a little bit with Vampire 8887 about the graphics looking like Ninja Gaiden, they would make it almost more realistic.

  • punks have got HUGE chompers in the jap version....look like they're ready to bite manta's hand off.

    lol

  • 1:28-1:33. was that telepathic communication? no one said anything but they still understood eachother.

  • lol the japanese version of Tiny looks dumb

  • HAHAHAHAHA the first boss in the jap version looks absolutely ridiculous.

  • they should make a black manta in next gen like a ninja gaiden style or something

  • heheh i got much fun on this

i beat it about 5 times

  • i always hated that game i was scared of it as a little kid so i put it in the toilet

  • This game was awesome, I really hope they release it for the wii virtual console.

  • Same here!

  • This game was Theeee shit.... I remember always tryin to beat that 1st boss. I think his name was Tiny or something...

  • There was this 2-player NES game I used to play and I can't remember what it's called, but it was sort of a ninja version of "Altered Beast" where you could become different animals like a scorpion etc. Can anyone help me remember the name of the game?

  • Ninja Crusaders?

  • Doesn't sound familiar but I'll have to look it up. Thanks either way.

  • THAT IS IT! Thank you! I've been searching for the title of this for like the past year.

  • No problem. I remembered the game mainly for it's insane difficulty.

  • Although I don't think its the best game, its definately worth a play. My friend had this back in like 1991, tried it, its a little slow but its sort of meant to be that way. i enjoyed it and I'd give it a 8 out of 10

  • Anybody that thinks this game sucks is a stupid idiot. This is one of the best games ever made, and THANK HEAVEN for OgreHombre's home page (R.I.P.), otherwise I would've NEVER discovered this great game back in 1998 when he featured it as the game of the month one time. He was right about this game. It's awesome, and it's one of the best ever made. To all the people who hate it:FUCK YOU.

  • Who could be calling in the middle of the night!? Don't they know i'm dressed as a Ninja!?

  • Rofl.

  • i think it was his wife wanting her child support money

  • I can't believe anyone else in the world plays this game.

I don't think I ever beat it when I was a kid, but I remembered that I couldn't beat the last boss because I didn't know the order of the chi powers or some shit.

  • same issue i had i can get to the end but i cant put the powers in the right order

  • the order was fire bomb, fire ring, lighting, use spider to get behind him, the shoot him with missle ftw

  • I'm trying to translate the Katakana in the JPN version's story...

  • I think the American Version is better or more fitting stylistically.

  • that boss from black manta is the lamest ever.

  • LOL yeah he was

  • i remember that i had this game, and it sucked so hard that i exchanged it as quick as i could...

    fucking waste of time... lol

  • Yeah it did suck, I scooped it up from a garage sale so I was stuck with the piece.

  • The pictures of the henchmen from the US version were actually stolen from the How to Draw Marvel comics book.

  • Sorry the actual title is the How to Draw Comics the Marvel way.

  • Holy shit I still have that book too...

  • isn't the game itself just a bastardization of Shinobi?

  • Not one bit. It does look play like it though lol.

  • LMFAO @ Bastardization

  • I remember that I managed to finish Ninja Cop Saizou once, when NES games were still being produced. But never found the Black Manta version at the time, and never managed to finish it when I could find a copy.

The final boss is completely different between versions.

  • Wow I had no idea Taito bastardized this game. The graphics and sound are better in the Japanese version.
