This movie gave me a new perspective on life I mean today we all just chill iin our homes playing games wtaching tv and going on youtube our safety is secure but these guys were living in a nightmare I cant even imagine living like that where you know any minute you could get hit by artillery and everything is over. Hitler wasn't entirely "evil" when he saw his country of germany at that time, it was ran by a corrupt government(who happened to be jewish), ruled by jewish bankers, and prostitution(introduced by jews). This movie gave me a new perspective on life I mean today we all just chill iin our homes playing games wtaching tv and going on youtube our safety is secure but these guys were living in a nightmare I cant even imagine living like that where you know any minute you could get hit by artillery and everything is over. This is an amazing movie, and I must say Im not sure why I missed it the first time. Everyone can make their silly comments, but the actors, and cinematography are amazing. Couple that with an amazing plot.
I enjoyed this film immensely. If the actor who plays Hitler had been American I guarantee an Oscar. He is that good. Highly recommended.

That's a myth, that Hitler was elected.
Hitler LOST the 1932 election, and was appointed chancellor by president Von Hindenburg, to utilize the diminished Nazis, in a coalition government. Hindenburg died about a year later, and Hitler seized power.
After that, Hitler discontinued elections, although he was popular in early years, creating jobs and overseeing a booming economy.

@infazahmet your right about everything except hitler wasn't elected, he was appointed by the Reichstag and President Hindenburg in 1933, and became sole ruler in 1934 after the president died. Hitler had lost the election of 1932. Everything was legal and he wasn't a "true" dictator until 1937-38, even arguably 1942.

No, Hitler never "legally" came into power. Hindenburg was elected President, and Hitler wanted to become Chancellor, but Hindenburg only wanted him to stay as a Vice-Chancellor. Hitler refused and refused, and finally Hindenburg had to give him the title of Chancellor of Germany as an act of desperation(because nor von Papen, nor Hindenburg could form a coalition without the Nazi party), and in short, he outlawed ever political party except for the Nazis, and thats how he got power

How he expanded his power to attain absolute dominion over Germany, that's another matter of course. But his initial ascent was legal.

@BlackPanteraSociety That's how the German Parliamentarian system works. Even now. Angela Merkel was not "elected by the masses". You vote for a party in Germany, not a person. So when the CSU/CDU formed a coalition with the SPD, Merkel was selected by party hacks to be the chancellor. It was the same in 1932. Now everyone knew prior to the election that a vote for CSU/CDU was a vote for Merkel, since it was clear before the election she would be chancellor. But ditto Hitler and the Nazis.

They're two totally different cases. By 1932, the Nazis only had 230 seats out of 608 in the Reichstag. Not even close to a majority. Hitler was only appointed Chancellor because Hindenburg wasn't happy with neither van Papen nor von Schleicher, Hitler was appointed Chancellor because of chaos in German politics and as a last resort by Hindenburg.

So Hitler was most certainly the logical choice to be chancellor. The July 31, 1932, election produced a major victory for Hitler’s National Socialist Party. The party won 230 seats in the Reichstag, making it Germany’s largest political party, but it still fell short of a majority in the 608-member body.

Had there been a free and fair election at that point, the Nazis would have easily won it. By 1940, with the defeat of France, Hitler and the Nazis were so popular that other anti-Nazi forces knew moving against them was impossible.
