  • Thanks!!

  • Sounds awesome man! love the tones too! really good song!

  • Hmm, I wanted to play this awsome melody, but I cant.

    What Tune? Maybe any tab...

Really cool song and great tone for this.

  • @muge25 Hey man. Thanks for watching and the compliments. This is just one of my own meanderings on the fretboard. I came up w/ it after i listened to NEurosis' Black Star ...riff just popped up after that. As far as tab i dont write it sorry. :( All of my stuff is easy tho (im not a very technical player) so if you watch the vid close enough you can figure it out :) The tuning is just one step lower than standard. Hope that helps somewhat.. Thanks again! \m/

  • Wow..thanks for the comment. Just one i made up :)

  • What is the song's name? Its amasing. Especially the clean parts.

  • Very good!!!

  • @silvacore

    Thanks! Check my other vids!

  • you should shell out the cash for a ram's head big muff or a cheaper green russian muff. The new big muffs like you have are junk. They sound like crap compared to the other ones... Good video though.

  • @libertyfalls

Ya i hear ya. I no longer have that one..but do have a black russian BMP. you can hear it in my newest vid. Thanks for watching!

  • Big Muff kicks ass, i'll never sell mine. Do You remember how did You set the sustain knob on Muff? Great tune btw. Greets.

  • Man...i do not remember..sorry...im sure it wasnt super high tho..id say around noon or so.. My USA muff got FUBAR'd so i have a russian (black) now that i think i like more than the USA one. Thanks for the comments and watching!

  • Love your tone, it's great for alot of sludgy music you can play....I play alot of Alice in Chains, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like a good tone for them....

  • Thanks man! Yeah,I am sure you could rock some AIC w/ that tone! I love them too BTW

  • Major thumbs down there black, Recto's (not Mesa's in general) can be fizzy, if set to be so. But as you have hopefully gathered, when dialed in tastefully they are nothing of the sort.

  • Agreed, fizz is optional

  • what are your settings on the rectoverb

  • I think anybody named Chad is a raving homosexual... wait...

    ;-)

  • har har :) Thanks for watching/subscribing!

  • This sounds awesome... would fit great for sludgey stoner rock/metal.

  • Thanks man. What i was going for! Thanks for watching!!!

  • do you have some settings i could try out? I have a rectoverb right now. and a big muff and I just cant seem to get any good distorted tones. Maybe my tubes need to be replaced but im having trouble finding those sweet tones.

  • Hey there,

In this clip the recto is CLEAN...no break up or anything. THe disto u hear is 100% NYC Big Muff. I dont remember the settings on the big muff nor the amp. Rectos are finicky...just keep messing with it and you will get your tone! Also, I posted my settings for the other clip on the other recto vid. Thanks for watching!

  • dudeee sick tone

  • THANK YOU!

  • That does not sound bad at all. I get the feeling you're into stoner stuff, a Kyuss fan perhaps? I think you've got a great sound for that kind of music.

  • Thanks a lot! Yup I love stoner rock. I tried this out after listening to Locust Star by Neurosis. At least that was the kind of vibe I was going for. Thanks for watching!

  • That sounds pretty brutal. Raise the highs a bit though.

  • hey

please tell me that distortion was through the clean channel and the big muff because no offense it sounded like flubb

    really mudddddddy

use the amps distortion way better but still you are a good player i like ur style

  • ya big muff through the clean of the recto. I was looking for something a little different when i was experimenting w/ this sound. Thanks for watching and check out my other vids!

  • dude maybe tune before recording?. i dunno

  • have you heard of seether and/or deep purple ........if you have is this amp any good for that type of rock? cuz im trying to find a new amp

  • For Ritchmore era Deep Purple I'd get a Marshall. For Deep Purple today get an Engl (Steve Morse endorses/uses 3 different ones). Seether I think may be a recto tone..key word there is think. I saw em live about 6 months ago but was too far to see the amps. This amp is really versitile imo. With patience the user can dial in a variety of sounds. Also, using different distortion pedals to boost it or for the distortion they provide helps too. Thanks for watching!

  • Why don't you just get a Marshall and let the Recto be a Recto? Clean sounds weak, gain sounds pretty flubby. Niether of those tones would fit in a live band setting. I own a 3 channel Dual Recto. It sounds nothing like this.

  • im sure it doesnt sound anything like this unless you are using a bigmuff into the clean channel like i am. thanks for watching

  • I got a rectoverb as well. As far as mesa, its goes its somewhat of an exclusive brand since its all handmade. They dont cheapen their brand by have cheap versions made it asia like marshall does. All I know is Metallica uses Mesa and so do a lot other well known groups that I dont care to mention. Look at their website. Anyway the amp by itself kind of has dry thin sound with a lot of bass but, use it with a tubescreamer (a good one) and you wont be able to put your guitar down

  • I've done my research and trust me, this isn't the first time I heard a Recto ;) So, I know what your saying man. Mesa Boogie isn't exactly a big "name brand" where I am. Barely anybody knows about them and I have hardly anyway to find one (except for craigs list or ebay). I understand that they do have a great reputation, so that's what got me started in my search. If I was going for the name, I would have went for a Marshall or something. I'd rather go for sound and quality.

    thanks much

  • Awesome! Go for it then! They are quite GREAT amps!

  • Just out of curiosity, do you and yours live under a rock? The Mesa Rectifier sound has been THE Rock and Metal sound since not long after it came out around 1990. This is 2008.

  • Sadly, of the many many "musicians" I know, I am the only one who takes it upon himself to research guitars, amps, pedals, etc. Frankly, if my skill were equal to my knowledge of such things, I would be godly at the guitar. Alas, I live amongst shredders and emos who are not the slightest bit aware of any gear that their favorite rockstar doesn't play.

Like I said I research many things in my spare time. I usually wait for something to catch my interest first. Mesa came around about last year.

  • I've been attempting to get my hands on a Rectoverb for a while now. I might be able to get one used from some guy.

Is there anything I should watch out for when I take it for a test run? Or just go by "if it sounds good, buy it"?

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks.

  • To tell ya the truth, I was so against recto's when i went in to get a new amp. then i played it and was like HOLY SH!T! this thing is awesome. It is all about how u set it. Please be aware that this is NOT the disto from the amp. But listen to Dead Heart In a Dead World by Nevermore. Boosted Recto Tone! It is a great amp IMO...just keep some mids in there. GO BY YOUR EARS and NOT NAMEBRANDS.

  • You have responded wisely young grasshopper. ;-)
