Wow, that is a bunch of sludge on that wall. Now another machine needs to be invented that will clean up the centrifuge. What did you call that goop? Centrifudge? :-)
I think a simple sediment filter would clean the oil just fine. If you where picky about cleaner oil just run it though a finer filter to remove anything else. Centrifudge would be nice but for the average home owner a big investment.
@egn83b No way, i have used both, this centrifuge is the best and most efficient way to clean oil. It uses time and G-force =your cleaning time. if you have a filter lets say 6 micron. you will plug it up fast and you will not capture the other particulate under 6 micron, those smaller contaminants will just flow right on through. Because this machine cleans based on weight g-force, it will also catch the water. These machines pay off quickly.
you could process with a still, this machine could be used for your initial cleaning pre still and then after for final polish. Biodiesel, svo, etc. It works excellent!,
That probably needs more heat than the furnace itself produces (but someone correct me on that). And even a bigger investment. Well, refiners use the distillation process to make oil products anyway.

Would the cleaning be done with a distillation process (a still) ?

@peckiledorf the new design cleans 1000-2000 gallons a day depending on the quality of oil.
