Due to trying to decipher how you play John Hardy here, this clip is my most frequently watched YouTube clip ever, I can safely say. Your version has become the one I aim at, as I find it eerie, simple, strong and to the point. Thanks!
Lyon & Healy, built in Chicago in the early 1900's. Lady's banjo. 10 inch head. Spun over nickle plated pot. Well worn fretboard with finger marks in it, from before I got it. Head was busted, no strings and missing a fifth string peg. I strung it, put the head on it and made a tone ring out of a cut cymbal and some 45 caliber pistol shells and soildered it all together sort of like an old Strombert Cup o phone. Part home made, part history..
If you have children they would enjoy having all your banjo playing so they could "take Dad along" as they travel about. My Mom had a video made and since she has passed I still pull it out occassionally and watch her antics....kind of gives my soul some peace.
I agree, my dad would love it(and so would I) it would be a great thing to listen to a cd of you while driving to North Carolina to do some gold panning.
Dang that was amazing !

This was soooo good. I enjoy your banjo playing. You should consider recording a DVD.

It would be a horror movie.. I could title it, "Weird Old Coot Punishes a Banjo...."

I used to carry a short necked banjo in the car and play when I drove, but it makes the other passengers nervous..
