I agree it is somewhat on the slow side, but frankly, I don't think the chorus could handle it any faster. Unfortunately, the music demands more than this chorus can fulfil. First of all, there are NO written solos, where they are using solos is editorial, NOT the composers original notation. The chorus also pays little to no attention to the composed dynamics. Everything is basically sung mezzo to mezzo-forte.

Too slow for my taste, the "flow" sometimes misses because of that, I think.
And yes, the "scooping" especially during the solos is quite annoying. Don't know if the piece requires it but my choir didn't do it.

I wasn't aware that scooping was part of the style, but all in all, nice blend.
