Why are they doing this to us, indeed. Why are they doing this to LEWIS? The dear professor spins in his grave. Guess I'll wait to Netflix this one like I did with Caspian. Heartbreaking.
OH MY GOODNESS. Will she just die already?! Well, I mean, stay dead. Try don't need her in it. It just ruins the story. 7 swords?! Ughhhhhh. Hokay. Bad things:
Oh honey... you make me just want to give you a big hug and let you cry it out...LOL I agree with a lot you say, but I'm still trying to reserve judgment until AFTER I see the movie. There's no use getting worked up over something that might change. Because if this was a test screening, they might be able to change some stuff on the cutting room floor if it wasn't accepted properly in the context that would flow properly.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!? White Witch....NOT AGAIN! she's like a cat with 9 lives holy crap.....and the 2 older Pevensie's......WHAT!? I'll admit seeing the 2 other children will be alright, but..God....I'm kinda...not looking foward to it as much.
I thought the BBC VDT was one of the best of the bunch. It was only 2 hours, unlike LWW and SC, which were 3 hours, and not rushed through in 1 hour like PC.
WOW...I REALLY hope this was an April Fool's Joke, unfortunately the video was uploaded on September 29th, so this is for real...and I'm very afraid now...:(
i totally love how the movie sounds i repeat i dont care about the changes!! The important thing is that the movie came to life a a twist but an awsome one i love it!!!! i like to see a movie based on a book that is diferent!!!! why do i wanna see a movie copy paste from the book!!! eww no!! i like to see the ideas of the directrors some movies suck but i love how the narnia movies are!! the books r awsome and the movies 2. U narnia geek suck big time!! total drama king, just see the movie.
Is this were someone says, "Hooked on Phonics worked for you"?
Might I suggest writing in COMPLETE sentences if you're going to insult someone? And watch your spelling too... You don't spell awesome A-W-S-O-M-E. Nice try, Moron.
Take the Beavers dinner table scene for example. In the book, I'm on the edge of my seat as Mr. Beaver reveals exactly why the kids are there, the prophecy, who the witch is, and what must be done. The BBC version of this scene puts me to sleep.
Not everything that works in a book works in a movie. BBC didn't adapt Narnia at all.
@GPuddle Only the people who grew up back then will appreciate the BBC version. Obviously you and others your age are spoiled by the high tech special effects in the new movies of today. Please keep in mind that the BBC version was produced in the 80's. There was no CGI back then and special effects were cruder than what we have now. You really should learn how to judge a film or TV series according to the production standards of the time they were produced, NOT by modern standards.
Trying to come up with something good about these news. The fact that she is an actual witch should mean that she couldn´t die as easily as anyone else. So in that regard it makes some sense at least.
Amazed, shocked and even furious. People do this with so many books, I am almost to the point of wanting to boycott any book, video game or even maybe even historical thing, that is made into a movie. I hate the self centered life style that is consuming movies. Its like life is becoming what can I do for me. I can endure the movie, but it makes it another money making movie rather than a true description movie....
I'm sorry GlumPuddle, I respect your opinion, but believe it or not, there are more people in the world who havn't read the books then people who have. Apted is a fantastic film maker, and I have faith that what ever changes he made to the story were made to unite the stories various adventures instead of having a hodge-podge asortment of little stories. This was most likely done to appeal to the audience as a whole, he can't please all the fans to sacrifise the income the movie could have.
@TentPegWielder Is that right? Of course not, but you sort of have no choice in film making. I am going to stay positive about this movie. Even if it sucks, it's not the end of the world, call me a bad Narnia fan, but when it all comes down to it, they are only books, and they are only movies.
@GPuddle I disagree. I think that there could have been a film made that would grab audiences as well as make the fans happy. If PJ could do it with Lord of the Rings, it could have been done with Narnia. Maybe some changes (like the consolidation of the islands) will work well for the film. But the White Witch return was unnecessary. Pure and simple.
@GPuddle Hey, cheer up, there was a reaction at NW in the forum, which actually explained a way how this terrible decision could still end up helping to express the theme of temptation.
It basically said that Aslan does not NEED the swords to defeat the witch again, but that he wants the characters to proof themselves by overcoming the temptation to get the swords. Much like in PC. It does not justify the WW, but if it is true, this subplot helps to bring the themes from the book in the film.
By that I meant that it's sad if the filmmakers feel they must sacrifice the heart of the story in order to appeal to people who probably wouldn't like the books either. Why should I care if the film appeals to those people?
It's all about money. Taking a very unique book and turning it into a formulaic film for short-term commercial gain.
She's like Jean Grey from the X-men. No matter how many times she dies, she keeps coming back!!! This added part to the plot doesn't even sound cohesive. I wonder when the plot is revealed in the movie if it will even make sense when it's explained? Though Tilda Swinton said she was only in a small part of the movie. I'm seriously hoping that they are trying to stop the "Dark Island" rather than the White Witch. She'll be part of the plot, yeah, but I hope it's not as significant as it sounds.
What's the main message they're sending people? That evil never, EVER dies?! And no matter how many times you destroy someone they can still haunt you the rest of your life?!
I think the sense of longing will still be preserved, but maybe not as forefront as we perhaps would like it to be. I still have faith that the White Witch will be a relatively minor part of the movie, in which she probably appears to Edmund and the crew and then like... morphs into a sea serpent and attacks the crew. However, it's a different story when she's the CAUSE of the evil, etc. I'm still going to see this and love it, but man... they couldn't think of anything else?
when i heard u when u said they brought her back i was like oh crap i hope its april 1st and its so stupid how they brought her back, i think this is the biggest mistake that has happened in the narnia movies do you agree GPuddle?

Im also confused about all the pevansies coming back. What if Susan is back because of Caspian?! Not even gonna think about it. >.<

Hey, Walden Media, the BBC managed to make a faithful dramatic adaptation with a really small budget!

"Accurate" and "faithful" are not the same thing.

You're not really surprised, are you? Hope is a dangerous thing when you entrust something you love to Hollywood.

I knew Fox was bad to start with ironic that Disney dropped Narnia for a new Persia series which failed big time and lost money.
