Some people are so ignorant taking shots at Paula tone that's what super clean technique sounds like he sounds clear and he doesn't rely on distortion like so many others and when he does use fuzz it makes it harder to sound clean but he always does if you have something bad to say about Paul then don't I've met him he's a world class person as well as guitarist he's not a dick like yngwie and he's a great example of how hard work and love of music pays off

@punkmusicmetal When he mentions it, look at the shape the pick makes. He's hitting the bottom string with an upstroke and the top string with a downstroke. He's essentially not plucking from the sides of the strings that are facing eachother. Inside picking would be hitting the bottom string down and the top string up (keeping the pick INSIDE the two mentioned strings)

My Ibanez cost me 800 dollars, but with new pickups, a vintage floyd rose, and a neck refinish (600 dollars more) it sounds like a 5000 dollar instrument.

@goldensleeves nah, its up to what you like. i shred with 011 gauge strings because they last a lot, sound great, and are really thick so with distortion they have this crunch which is great for rock and metal. i think paul must use 009 cuz all those instrumental guys usually use that gauge.

@MrBorothy He has spent his whole life trying to make his playing fit 'outside' picking. Pay attention to his videos and you will notice, you don't have to master everything, only what feels more comfortable. If you don't really master everything... then just do your regular exercises starting with an upstroke =D, it works great
