  • Did anyone else hear the slight growl when he sings "more" in "more than one one dimension"? I did ;)

  • I get the chills when he says "we gather here to say our goodbyes," so awesome!

  • THANK YOU, JONATHAN LARSON!!

  • every time i hear 'in that little town of Bethlehem' i always think 'we raise our glass you bet your ass' hehe even in church :P

  • lol Idina Menzel sounds the same! Taye sounds kinda different...

  • performing RENT in 5 weeks, this stands as my favourite song... every rehearsal the chorey is crazy and chaotic, and the emotion is insane!!

  • @onlytheyoungdiegood I did RENT too a few years ago :D Personally, my favourite song was Rent (:

  • "You couldn't pay!"

"Oh yeah." ~ <3 Mark Cohen

  • "Hey mister, she's my sister." :D

  • Hahahaha. Angel killed Benny's dog. XD <3

  • Get a group together and practice this song. Then go to a Pride March and as soon as you start walking stop directly in front of any protestors and perform this and La Vie Boheme B in front of them. (Make sure you dance a LOT.) Gets them every time. They don't kow what to do.

  • @iwontbenormal i was thinking the same thing! :D

  • @froheaddeak Haha sweet! Me and a troupe did it and the protesters were completely floored.

  • @iwontbenormal you and that troupe sound awesome! ahaa

  • @iwontbenormal HAHAHAHA!

  • fuck the 3-piece suits!

  • whenever I hear "you bet your ass- Idina;s face pos into my mind and i start laughing

  • Last week in my science class, my teacher was talking about cancer cells and mentioned the word "Carcinogens" , guess what me and all my friends sung in our catholic sschool when she got our worksheets and started to do our 'work'??? :)

  • Every time I listen to this, I hear something different.

  • The 2005 film, the 1996 recording, LIVE! It doesn't stop this song from being one of the funniest and best-written songs I've ever heard!

  • "hey mister, shes my sister"

i love how idina said it here

  • Wow this is so different from the movie. I will say I'm in LOVE with Anthony Rapp! I started singing this according to the movie and I'm like O.O omg.

  • @zoeybrat95 i love him sooo much!

  • I love this! But Benny sounds a bit robotic...I'm sure there would be a tonn of energy if it was live compared.

Also, everyone seems to sound really raspy on this album...

  • @bbmonkey14 Benny is -supposed- to sound robotic. He's the sell-out smarmy yes-man, the pinnacle of everything the Bohemians resent. :D

Also, the "raspiness" you speak of is one of my problems with more recent recordings; everyone sounds too polished, too overproduced, too poppy. I love the rough, raw edge of OBC. It was a raw sound for a raw musical in a raw decade.

  • @Mythezza I don't know, it just sounds like they all really, really need to clear their throats and have a swig of water.

  • Playing the waiter...joy...:P

  • I was blessed enough to see rent back in '99 on Broadway. Instant Renthead!!! The last second of the play I went from crying to laughing. My whole view on life was changed forever. I was then lucky enough to see it at the Oakdale in CT. then a third time in Pittsburgh. LOVE IT. Didn't even mind the changes they made in the movie too much. The furthest stretch was the engagement party for Maureen and Joanne. It WAS supposed to be 1989, that kind of acceptence was a little far fetched.

  • Catchy song.

  • @FictionLover333 I know! I alwayd get it stuck in my head and sing "la Vie Boheme" And everyone looks at me like wtf does that even mean? lol(:

  • We were singing this during lunch it was epic :) ♥

  • "It went well" "go to hell!" Hehe.

  • TO THE STAGE!

  • best song from rent ever! i mean it's like a conversation my friends would have except ya know we don't sing or stand on the tables.........usually. =)

  • 5:36 is the best. gotta love rent.

  • I LOVE Rent. And La Vie Boheme is my favorite out of them all. It just sounds like they are having so much fun.

  • OBC CAST ALL THE WAY.!

  • Wilson and Rosario sound better then Wilson and Daphne. :/ But I like it. <3 Anthony

  • greatest lyrics evar!!! love this song! the "faggots...." part is a bit excentic for me, but other than that line, this song is such a WIN!! XD

  • @jfreed91 they're just parodying what people call them. like mocking them. it's like saying they're proud to be gay/transgendered..etc.

  • I HATE MY COMPUTER......it cant play rent movie

  • Most of the ren songs i can sing........Ecspecially Adam Pascal ! <3 beatiful voice

  • My mom saw RENT back in December of 2007 on Broadway.

She bought me the CD, and just listening to it, I became a RENTHEAD!

    BISEXUAL, TRISEXUAL, HOMOSAPIEN!

  • when i saw it a couple of months ago in st. louis i almost died of happiness!!! i mean i was already a RENT-head but seeing this live with me in the audience was amazing! VIVA RENT(long live RENT)

  • OMG.

i LOVE how much younger the cast sounds xD

  • @IfThisFailsOfficial: Wow. I suggest you stop being a yuppie ( RENT rubs off w/its terminology. Ha.) and find a dictionary. Just enjoy the song, ok? RENT is a powerful, amazinggg musical.

  • aww, i saw rent last year in san diego...i cried. anthony rapp and adam pascal forever!!!!

  • this song is the best number in the whole damn show... I love it!!! i go around quoting it at people and everyone thinks im a nutjob, but to that i say "to going against the grain, going insane, going maaaaad!" VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!

  • if you're writing a play don't use other people's ideas. it's gotta be something you personally feel strongly about. you'll like your results better.

  • la vie boheme, i just love this song x3

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!!

  • anthony used vibrato SO much more in this than he does nowadays :( i miss it.

  • ur name thingy is awesome!!! I mourn the wicked, too... its actually a good deed to mourn som1 u hated (in my religion, at least)

  • It's a reference to the play Wicked broski. As in the title song says, "No one mourns the wicked."

  • i know that, babe... no one mourns the wicked, no one cries they wont be heard no one lays a lily on their grave...

  • He has such a beautiful voice!

  • this is just a cast recording. meaning they are standing in from of a microphone recording their voice and they arent moving at all.

trust me, i know for sure and if youve seen it live you know, that it has enormous amounts of energy on stage.

  • They have all grown so much!

  • What langauge is "Oh vei" from?

  • yiddish, i believe.

  • It's French

  • It is in fact Yiddish. The person was referring to "oy vey" (they spelled it "oh vei").

    Look it up. :-)

  • Oops XD I thought they had said "La vie"

    Misread it XD

  • what is in yiddish?

  • "oy vey."

  • not exactly... its Kaddish... the jewish death prayer... you say it when you know someones going to died or is on the verge... and they probally say it bc in rl anthony, adam, and idnia have a jewish backround (:

  • Or maybe because Jonathan Larson, the composer and writer, did

  • Also..If I'm not mistaken, Our Angel Jonathan Larson is Jewish..which may have contributed to use of the Kaddish/Prayer. I think its awesome, I like how RENT uses such a diverse sort of sense to it. Diversity mixed with a badass urban early 1990's NYC setting is pure genius and straight up kickass..really amazing.

  • I absolutely love this song!

  • i'm playing maureen in the scottish ametuer premiere of the show! :)

    x

  • Good luck! ^_^

  • How'd the show go?

  • i love how he repeats "that's a lie"

  • "oh yeah" LMAO!!

  • this was done great on the last preformance.

  • lol I'm doing Restaurant Man during this song in my school version. Ugh the second part is so annoying lol I know the words but I keep getting messed up on the three soy burger dinner, two tofu dog platter part lol

  • Bar Man; "you sit all night you never buy!"

    Mark; "that's a lie, that's a lie I had a tea the other day!"

    Bar Man;" you could'nt pay!"

    Mark (remembering-sounding sad);" oh yeah"

    lol brilliant!
