  • I have a moss material with a normal map and a displacement map - where do i put the displacement map - cos i can't get 'WoldDisplacement', help??

  • @SupermassiveRais You'll want to look for BumpOffset if you want it for a parallax map. If you want it for a DX11 tessellation map then you have to go down and change the DX11 properties of the material. Lastly, if you're looking to use DX9 vertex displacement then you actually can't use a texture for it.

Let me know if this helps.

  • Help! Please!

When I open the material editor I don't have the blank preview screen, I have the preview screen but it already has that silly 'chess table' like pattern :( How do I go about it so I just have to blank screen when I open it? Please help I've been stuck for ages.

    (UDK Dec 2011)

  • @allportvideosorg What happens when you connect a texture to the Diffuse channel?

  • I would like to add, for specular , in some cases we can use the blue chanel from diffuse texture :°)

  • When I go into the material editor, I dont have the window at the bottom that lets me change the options of things placed in the editor. Do you know how to get it back? I tried looking in view, but I can't find it.

  • @bobiscool99 A few things to try. Click "Window" up at the top. A dropdown window should give you the option to turn on the "Properties."

If that doesn't do it, then make sure you have your Material editor maximized. It might be below the edge of your screen. If all else fails, go to the folder C:\UDK\UDK-2011-06\UDKGame\Config, and delete the UDKEditor files. They'll be regenerated when you restart the editor, but you'll lose all of your properties.

  • @micahpharoh

    Thanks!

  • keep em coming ;-)

  • I think it would be helpful if someone explained some of the other functions in the material editor. If you open up the wet material surfaces in the udk editor their material editor chains are very complex.

  • @WeEatBrainz I know, but there's a lot to it. You can request specific tutorials, if you want. I'll do what I can.

  • I find this incredibly fascinating. Also you said "brick package" at the beginning...heh.
