  • Got the same ring flash a while ago. It’s fully T.T.L and works well for macro. It also works well off the lens the vignetting is then no longer a problem. For the price of 79.99 euro it is what it is and works well. The same place sells extension tubes that are full wired up to keep all electronics working with the lens and camera. For around the same price, and work as they should. They sell for most cameras and for anyone thinking of starting macro well for that price it’s well worth it.

  • So I'm guessing this is purely TTL.

BTW. The guy who said the black circle was vignetting is wrong but I'm sure you know that.

  • my friend thanks for the nice video. I am considering to do a hand made ugly light haha but maybe will buy the canon macro ring light. Thanks again keep posting :)

  • @mmatoscom You're most welcome. :)

  • albinos r cool but ur eye lashes look weird

  • You have a lot of good stuff to share, I just wish you could say it more succinctly. I end up fast forwarding through your videos. lol.

  • as you point out, this is meant to be used in macro. The problem you are having with the vignetting is down to both the lens and the flash.

My ringflash setup has a 52mm default screw which is fine for Nikon DX kit lenses but has horrific vignetting with my 67mm( filter size) lenses. The simple fact is that you have a ring flash that needs a greater diameter to work on medium to telephoto

Good video. Shows what these things are for and more importantly what they are not for.

  • your eyes are fuckin weird man! thanks for the vid!

  • @steevyp Um, thank you, I guess...?

  • @steevyp you are an idiot. truly.

  • The black ring on your photos is called "vignetting". It happens on wide angle lenses when you stack filters on it, or in this case, because of the bulky ring flash.

Like you said, the flash is for macro photo, so vignetting should not be a problem on close up shots. An 18-105mm lens (not 135) is basically a wide angle to mild macro lens, not a dedicated macro, that's why you see vignetting.

Why is your video mirrored/backward btw?

Oh, I posted a video of a cheap alternative to a ring flash.

  • @otas32 It's mirrored because that is how I had set it.

  • use this ring flash and after 6days you too will become an albino

  • @r33chase I honestly don't know how to respond to such an idiotic comment, but I will say this much. I am an albino and quite proud of it.

  • @r33chase ignorant fool, get off youtube!

  • Very cool. Funny I just uploaded a flash vid up to YouTube myself. That ring flash can be used for creative portraits use as well.

  • The camera looks badass. hahaha

  • @thealabamaman I know, because the person who owns the camera is badass. :D

  • thats very cool :)

  • Have you considered getting a macro lens, such as the Sigma 105mm?

  • @greywolfdjc I have thought about it, sure. Maybe some day.

  • That things massive :P! It looks neat :D

  • @zeeman418 It's really not that big; it just looks big. It's like when people complain they look fat in pictures... :P
