There wasn't much traffic. I wouldn't dare go that fast with more then a couple cars around. But the GTO is a great car to own and drive.

how does the gto feel at that speed? does it feel stable?

Feels nice and stable. The steering stays responsive and you'd swear that you're rolling around at 80. The only indication of speed is the roaring of the engine!

you wouldnt feel like you were going that fast, leaving off ramps i find myself going 110 without even noticing im speeding. they handle great

150mph feels like 80 in a normal car. 80 feels like 35.

why do GM cars have that overspeed thing? i mean, what is it for? it tells you that your going over 95MPH and thats it. sweet GTO. the Holden Monaro (Australian GTO) can do 170-180 and the HSV (holden special vehicles) can do 190+

I like the overspeed indicator because it reminds me that i'm going 95+... it's easy to hit that speed without knowing it when your focus is on the road...

The overspeed is perfect...

A, All it does it beep, it doesn't shut the engine off or anything

B, You will be in a 35 and go to pass someone and will be going 100mph when you think you are going 50. Speed limiter just gives you that little warning you need as you don't feel the speed, and shouldn't be looking down while you are pulling 400hp down.

you choose to turn it on because the car does 90 like its 40. i have mine on 80 for our 70 mile an hour interstates. believe me ive turned it off and its saved me a ticket or three. and yes with the holdens you can go a higher top speed because the aussies are supercharging them. the new vxr8 is what i want in america. the walkinshaw or bathurst. most kickass car ive ever seen in mylife. 530hp ls3. rwhp i do beleive. supercharging or turboing will make the car do 190+.......lookup sts turbo gto

I've given some consideration to forced induction. But I haven't wanted to dish out the cash yet. STS is a beast. I've looked them up. I'm not sure if a STS setup would pass smog emission out in CA. :^(

you can set the speed it goes off....i use it every day set that bitch at 80 o the free way keeps me ticket free

thats great you used turn signals.. lol good run.. i got an 04 goat with exaust and cold air intake.. i wound out 5th at 161mph but mine showed digital read out the whole time.. whats different with yours?

i had the speed warning set around 95... so that's why the digi readout went out and came back around 140ish...

Question....... why when you got up to 90 something it beeped? I know you said its got a limiter but what happens when it beeps and what did the message say on the screen?

There is a speed indication setting. I have it set at 95mph, so when the car hits 95mph there is a "beep" and a message says "Overspeed (95)". You'd be surprised how many times i've accendently had it beep at me! Which is why i like having it.

Nothing happans other then the beep and the message... it's just a indication that you've hit the set speed...

It's a six speed manual... if it was an auto, it would have automatically shifted to a lower gear...

Given the fact that it's in 5th gear the entire time... that's good acceleration... i could have dropped it to 3rd and it would have been much faster... but i only got 2 arms/hands... one for the steering wheel, and one for the camera... i wanna get a video of acceleration thru the gears... i'll post it once i got it...

The 04's auto or 6spd. 159mph Limiter, the 05-06 6spd, no limiter but with wind resistance the cap out at about 168, Auto 05-06's still have the limiter of 159.

Giys the GTO has around a 170mph top speed without a limiter. And the limiter can only be removed via a flash tuner.

With 3.46 gears it will redline before it hits 180mph.

Its MPH, check out the gauge cluster on the GTO, it goes to 200mph just like this one does. Also the factory limiter is about 160mph as this video shows.

They should hit 180-190 being as how it is a vette engine. it just depends whether or not you have the auto or standard tranny.

i have a 06 a4 gto and it kicks in at 160 for me. ive only taken it there 1 time though. too much risk in cali now that they are crushing cars for exhibitions of speed and racng.

lol... i'm not crazy enough to make that turn at high speeds. Don't be afraid of giong over 140... cuz if you crash the outcome is the same... that's my logic at least... BUT make sure that you do it on an empty road where you can't hurt anyone else but yourself!
