You have an M-4 length barrel which is shorter than the M-16 and not as accurate. And as for the AK of course the AK-74 is much more accurate than the AK-47
Ak is a legend. Plenty of people compare it against the AR / M16 family. It is without a doubt an almost flawless and simple design. Worldwide M16 / AR failure compared to the AK are stats enough since its launch.
Interesting video. Thanks for the comparison. I wonder if most people shoot better with AKs than ARs when they're both similarly set up. I can't expect the pencil barrel AR to be that accurate, but I'm surprised at how well the AK-74 worked here.
Also, for those who didn't know, 7.62x39 isn't really good past 250 yards - it drops too much and most military automatic rifles aren't well built enough to get the accuracy the round does have. 5.45x39 is much better at a distance.
We left with 72 men in our platoon and came back with 19, Believe it or not, you know what killed most of us? Our own rifle. Practically every one of our dead was found with his M16 torn down next to him where he had been trying to fix it.
Vietnam era M-16s had no forward assist, no chrome plating, thin barrels, different rounds, different twist rates... Basically, now, the rifle jams a LOT less, almost never if you keep it clean, it's a LOT more accurate than a 7.62 AK, and if it does jam, the forward assist lets you push the bolt forward. Rifles without the assist can't really be taken apart if they jam stuck to the rear.
I have a bull barrel AR with an EOTech. I'd take it over any AK, any day.
3. By contrast, soldiers armed with rapid fire weapons were much more likely to have fired their weapons in battle. These conclusions suggested that infantry should be equipped with a fully automatic rifle of some sort in order to increase the actual firepower of regular soldiers.
2. They also found that the chance of being hit in combat was essentially random; accurate "aiming" made little difference because the targets no longer sat still. The number one predictor of casualties was the total number of bullets fired. Other studies of behavior in battle revealed that many U.S. infantrymen (as many as 2/3) never actually fired their rifles in combat.
1. In 1948, the Army organized the civilian Operations Research Office. Operations Research Office. Over 3 million battlefield reports from World War I and World War II were analyzed and over the next few years they released a series of reports on their findings. The conclusion was that most combat takes place at short range. In a highly mobile war, combat teams ran into each other largely by surprise; and the team with the higher firepower tended to win.
2. Our military purchases M4s from colt for $1799, Izhmash sells brand new AK-100 series rifles for $160 USD, You cant tell me its 7x more accurate. AK's are perfect for combat accuracy. War is not static, fire and maneuver is what wins the fight. Better ergos, accuracy, modularity, range and recoil manageability, lethality, and battery of operations means nothing if your weapon malfunctions 15 yards from the enemy.
High ARs with match grade barrels don't last very long, AK 74s have less recoil than the AR does, the AR produces 5.3 Joules of recoil. AK in 5.45 only produces 3.9 joules of energy all. AK bolt has roughly 5oz more of moving mass. There are multiple manufactures that develop heavier bolt carriers for the AR to help reduce recoil, and give it longer dwell time.. In this case heavier is better. Look at the formula to calculate kinetic energy...
Recoil? One word: Muzzle brake. All felt recoil is gone with a good brake because the gas pulls the rifle forward. Look up competition ARs - the rifle doesn't even move. Recoil isn't an issue on an AK in 5.45 or an AR in 5.56, so this isn't going to help any arguments as to which gun is better.
@chizhr While most Romanian AK's have decent barrels, their barrels are not as good as current production Russian made AK barrels I believe. He's also shooting surplus ammo. With a Russian AK-74,better ammo, and optics, I think you could get pretty damn close.
indeedy, the 5.56 & .223 cartridges are inherently more accurate than the 7.62x39 homosexual haji cartridge. An AK74 would be an interesting comparison.
I get good groups with my bulk 55gr m193. My mk318 mod0 62gr OTM a bit tighter but 200 yds man sized targets off hand out of a 14.5" BCM 1:7 m193 is fine .
This video makes grown men into little cry babies. The amount of pussies and dirt shooters on youtube never stops amazing me. Next we will hear from mini 14 owners claiming they can beat both those groups.
@Allante715 No AR owner would use wolf ammo, that stuff is pure dog shit, a real test is using the ammo that is made for the rifle, in this case brass cased ammo for AR15 and steel for AK. Don't cry now.
Oh I am so sorry, Wouldn`t want Wolf to hurt that precious AR. Your argument is rubbish though. The AK74 was made for 5.45x39. Doesn`t matter if it is zinc plated, lacquered steel or brass.
I guess ARs are made for one particular type of ammo. Anything else and it must jam like a SOB.
Besides if you don`t want to try wolf try Silver Bear 5.45. The point is you will lose accuracy with a steel cased round. If that somehow distorts your world view of the AK and AR, I am sooooooooooooooooooo sorry.
I'm really surprised you didn't get better groups with that AR. I'm impressed with the AK's grouping, though. I thought you did a pretty real world and fair test between the two. I'd have that AR checked though bro. My fave needle leans more towards the AK (because I shot the M4 in the desert...junk!) but I do have to give props to the .223/5.56 round for accuracy. Good vid bro.
@rogermcgee1 The front handguards are original to the gun. They did a lot better job than they do today. This Rifle was a 1997 import. You do not see this quality today. The buttstock is one I refinished from a Romanian Stock set. That is good wood it just needs a lot of cleaning and sanding. Glad you enjoy it. My favorite is the Russian Laminate
i thought it was a good video comp, but there was some tom foolery with time between trigger pulls , the ar was 12 ceonds between shots, the ak was 7 seconds>>>>>???????????????
@MrKalashnikov47 The reason that was, the AR was a loaner rifle I had not had much trigger time with. The AK I had the benefit of much more trigger time. I was comfortable and have experience with both platforms though.
@MrKalashnikov47 u my friend have to much time on yur hands counting the seconds give me a fucking break ..... u trying to sound extra inteliigent isnt working very well
@IXIKiNGSPaDEIXI Ill take your challenge any day. I just watched your video, and im not the least bit impressed. Noting more than a dirt shooting, and you are a far far cry from 350yd. Id like to see you actual attempt a real feat of marksmanship. Show us a man size silhouette target (not the dirt) at verified range before and after you shoot. Im sure your group will be most impressive. Post it as a video response, ill approve it.
@IXIKiNGSPaDEIXI You never showed any groups with your video, you stood up and were leaning back like a Noob, if you're going to talk smack you need to make a better video, the world is already full of fakes we don't need anymore.
this is a pretty fair test, good job! gotta say that the ak 74 is a huge step up from the 47 in terms of accuracy and range. id still prefer a ar though.
I think some of the accuracy issues with the ak is the crap ammo everyone gets for it shit I'm guilty of that with mine. I buy nice ammo for my AR and crap bulk forte ak cause it's cheap. Tula soft points I get 3-4"at 100 yards iron sights. I like both my AR and ak but AR parts and ammo are abundant in my area do that's my go to gun.
@elox02 The ammo used for the AR was some of the least accurate ammo ever made. XM193 is pure trash, if he shot 62gr lake city nato ammo it would have been even tighter of a group with the 1-7 twist, he was trying to show a test of the rifles with the ammo that was made for it.
The most controversial video on youtube, 20,000 views, this is the video that shows the fakes from the real shooters, all the morons have come out of the wood work to claim they can get 1/4" groups with iron sights with AKs at 100 yards but we never see the proof. You can't fool us folks, we know how accurate all the guns are because we fire them thousands of rounds per year instead of parroting the company line with both rifles. We don't care if you heard a rumor from a navy seal 20 years ago.
If you hand load your ammo for the AR it makes a night and difference from Walmart ammo. Seriously store bought ammo sucks. Reload your own! you will be amazed at the accuracy. You can clover leaf at 100 meters with a little practice.
@sandrifter It sure does. I reload for most of my rifles. check out some of my other videos, like the Rock River National Match AR. This XM193 ammo does not score high for accuracy at range.
@jetfuel545 XM193 is match ammo for most youtube heros, they claim they can get 1/2" groups with it. Walmart 7.62x39 is more accurate than Federal XM ammo. Federal puts saw dust in the cases to cut costs.
To each his own, but you need to work on your accuracy with your AR. Though your video shows that with a decent shooter the AK is an accurate weapon.
@Shwanzig This guy fired a 2.2" group 5 shots at 300 yards with his new AR15, you will never see that done on youtube by some of the fakes, this AR is a thin barrel and is not super accurate, just bone stock with crap ammo.
Sorry not a good review. He needs to work on his trigger finger. Both groups should be tighter. Nice try though. Bring a guy that can shoot both rifle to make it even match. Im my opinion, with this distant, with the intermediate round, both of them are accurate. The AKs are prone with bad skeptics because of shooter dont know how to use the AK sights. The sights position are a challenge wit AR shooter like my self. In a hand of experiene AK shooter, AKs are accurate.
@breakurselff Thanks, I know my accuracy with the AK sucks and the AR pencil barrel with XM193 should be a tack driver right? Ill wait for you to send me your video and ill approve it as a response. You can show us how its really done. Maybe you can hit oreo cookies at 150yd with your AK. I could only manage at 100. Watch the video on my channel. Its unedited
@breakurselff Where are you shooting videos? Show us how a real pro shoots. You know there is a difference with FMJ ball ammo quality and match ammo quality right? I mean why else would people even handload or buy match ammo if the standard ball XM193 was MOA accurate?
@breakurselff LMAO look at the mall ninja....I love you mall ninja's.... you make my day...Love reading you comments, you mall ninja's love to criticizes other peoples "trigger control" and shit like that.......
They should make Bud Light commercials about you guys...It would start out like "Thanks you mall ninja youtube guy. without your doushebag comments I would have nothing to laugh at"
HAHAHA mall ninja's always make me laugh...thanks bro!!!!!!
@breakurselff I would put my money on jetfuel any day of the week against any youtube AK shooter, he is a master with them. 99% of AK owners don't even know how to hit a target at 25 meters.
can you do an AR vs AK Accuracy test with a Scope? this way you can maximize the potential of both platform. I know there's so many variables involved, like weather conditions, ammo, location etc etc, but lets just say out of the box accuracy. I have a feeling that the AR would win any day, but dependability wise? obviously will go to a reputable made AK. I just went to the dark side again, after selling my AR10 6 months ago, I just can't live with an AK w/o an AR :D
@koolmike79 You are correct, the AR is most always going to be more accurate than the AK, and many variables are to be taken into account. A better representation is the 100yd test I did. Less variables to effect the results. You can see the AR carbine was 2.5moa and the AK was 3moa.
I feel your pain, I would not want to live with just one platform either. Hope you get another AR.
I have a Romanian SAR-1. It's a no frills 7.62 AK. I usually from a rest get 3"-4" at 100M. Is it a tack driver? No. Will it be combat effective(Hit a human target)at 400-500M? Yes. When it comes down to it that is all your standard infantry man needs. I by the way am an infantryman in the US Army, just saying before tons of people call me out on not knowing what I am talking about. The point is the accuracy of the M16 series is not enough of a difference to put it over the AK.
@EHSPP16 Thanks for the comment and your service. That is good accuracy for x39 Akm. I would be quite happy. I really like both guns. Im not a lover and hater like some are. They both make me happy. I think the most critical factor is always going to be the man/woman behind the trigger. That is what is going to get the job done.
@EHSPP16 I agree with what you said, my norinco AKM was 3-5" depending on ammo, the usual groups were 10 shots inside 4" with iron sights, with my M4 the accuracy was total shit, the groups were never better than 3", my other AR15s with 20" barrels were all in the 1-2" range with the average being 1.5" with nato green tip ammo. I love the guys who claim an AK is getting 1/2" groups, lol, then they never post a video for proof.
three things i can tell off the bat. breathing. staring at the target and trigger squeeeze. you want a clear front sight post on a blury target. proper sight alignment. shoot on the exhale. and a slow steady trigger squeeze. dont anticipate your shot. i would like you to try this again using what i just said if possible. awesome weapons though.. my two favorite assault rifles ever.
@3Skitz1Production3 Make sure you watch his current video, he fired a 2.2" group 5 shots at 300 yards with his Full sized AR15 with handloads. This was with iron sights and his first day shooting the new rifle. I've never seen anyone on youtube fire a 2.2" group at 100 yards with an AK or AR on youtube with iron sights.
@handgunlover i remember on an another video smoewhere that nobody could do this even with a match ar. this was sometime after my friend shot that 500 yard standing video i have. you also mentioned i "could even use your friends nm ar". why the backflip? is it because one of you friends showed you whats possible? one day you will find out that i am credible, and i dont talk to hear myself talk. btw, federal is among the best ammo in the stores...
@danthman114 ---i have to say thats debateable. i think a lot of it depends on the weapon you are shooting. the ammo out of. .22 feds suck in my mossberg s.a. 702 whereas winchester super x shoots phenominally accurate for me..idk
If he had done ak vs. super accurate bolt rifle the results would have been the same. WHY? because without using scopes you can barely see the target at 300yds!
@Cupofwrathdotcom This is not true. If you want to see what a very accurate rifle can do with iron sites, look at my video Rock River National Match AR 300yd. 5rd group 2.2". Same distance, Same target size. Results are not quite the same 8 )
@Cupofwrathdotcom anyone with any experience, will tell you, the AR15 is a tack hammer, I've never seen a standard intermediate rifle shoot as tight as the AR15 with relative ease...nuff said
@Cupofwrathdotcom ---hey genious. is it possible to hit a human size target 10 times in a row from 500yds with an ar-15 iron sights and in a prone position with no support under the muzzle except your hand?
AK will always win in more then one class then the AR, larger cal, much much more reliable weapon system weather it be 47 or 74 just a better gun all around
@CristianArnautu I shot both and there is not really a comparable difference between a braked ak74 (converted saiga 5.45 half moon brake) and an ar15 (colt match ar with free floated barrel). However, the irons on an ar are much easier to use IMO... Krebs makes peep sights for ak's to mimic the peeps on an ar... might have to try those out.
why does everyone compare the 7.62x39 to the 5.56x45?
if youre going to do an ak vs. ar debate, compare the 5.45x39 to the 5.56x45, since the 5.45 was made in response to the USA's newly adopted 5.56x45
compare the 7.62x39 ak47 to another .30 caliber US made equivalent, like the m1 carbine. the AK would win hands down and all the magpul mallninjas would throw a shitfit so thats why you never see this comparison. roofles
@cultofjimjones He's firing a 5.45 here. Or didn't you look? And there ISN'T a US made service rifle equivalent to a 7.62x 39. The M1 carbine is a pistol round.
I have been training Afghans and Iraqis on the AKM for more than 5 years. You're shooting an AK74, so you cannot say this test is a comparison of the AK to the AR. Try shooting a 7.62x39mm AK at 300 and take a look at your group. It is a well know fact that the 7.62x39 shot from an AK will group between 4-6 inches at 100m. The Russian manual states that 6 inches is considered acceptable accuracy. Average AR groups at 100 will be under 2 inches, less than 6 inches at 300. Shoot your AR more!!
@flash233cyahoocom I cannot call this AK vs AR? Is the AK74 not an AK? This test is fairer and more accurate than shooting an 7.62x39 against an H-bar AR. Is that what you wanted to see? Now that would not be fair would it?
@jetfuel545 Your vid is exactly as described...you'll never be able to make all of the internet "experts" happy, Thanks for the video. And to flash233c, it is not a difficult task to shoot an AK w/7.62x39 under 4-6" at 100m with practice. I suggest spending another 5 years training yourself on how to shoot instead of being another youtube hero.
@jetfuel545 i'll agree with you that it should be 5.45 vs. 5.56...but the ar-15 IS a more inherently accurate system..not to say that the ak isn't accurate enough inside of 300 yards. the 5.56 has higher muzzle velocity than the 5.45 but the 5.45 has a higher sectional density...the ar-15 properly lubed and maintained is plenty reliable, but the ak is the more inherently reliable system!!! much ado about nothing in my book,,,either one is good enough and will kill the hell out of ya all day!!!
@smartacus88 +1 This should be obvious to most people yet people are so quick to deny the obvious in defense of their platform. My personally choice is an AK-47 SBR for close range and an accurized AR-10 for long range. The AK-47 is more reliable and fires a heavier round than an AR-15, the AR-10 fires an even heavier round and is more accurate than either the AK or the AR-15. Being a semi-auto it can also lay down a decent amount of fire at closer ranges in a pinch.
@smartacus88 AGREED!!!! I've shot both systems and like em both. Your best with whatever you train with. Thank you for your honest and logical comment.
you write: "The Russian manual states that 6 inches is considered acceptable accuracy."
No need to say something about what you do not know. For the 7.62 * 39mm AK - 5 MOA accuracy at 100 yards - this accuracy of AK considered to be unfit for use and sent for recycling or repair.
I - Russian and AK original manual is on the table in front of me .=)
@flash233cyahoocom its also a well known fact that afghans and iraqis are only given limited training and that a fully trained soldier going semi auto should atleast get around 3" groupings i can get that easily with my WASR which for those of you who don't know is a civilian variant of the AK-47. But im not going to sit here and lie, AR is the more accurate rifle, I wouldn't try to make a shot with an AK-47 at any more than 300 Meters. With an AR, 400-500 meters. AK-74, 400 -450 meters.
@flash233cyahoocom hahaha are u kidding me...???? wow theyve got real thinkers up there training those guys huh because the AK 74 is an improved model of the AK while the AR he is using is an improved model of the AR15 made in the 60's. But I think you just want him to show people the NEW AR vs the 1947 model AK not highlighting that vast improvements have been made to their ak lines since the 40's hahaha you know sooooo much man. Dont act like Osama didnt use one of these cause he ALWAYS had 1
well i guess i'll go to choose the ragged ak74 than ar15, but what i like in ar15 you can purchase a gun with lot's of add ons while ak47 i don't know if i can find even the rail thing to put some scopes or something to look like new and different, but ak74 is still good for 300-400 yards and that's all i need for open sights like what you shooting i can now compare between two rifles thanks for posting it.
Thanks for taking the time to film these tests, i really appreciate this. I also wasn't aware that there was such thing as a romanian 74, learn sumthin new all the time, again thanx!
@rcssaxby I really enjoy shooting both of them. Each has advantages over the other. They were designed to function two different mind sets, and they have succeeded remarkably well at each. Which do I prefer...? As a collector and shooter, Both. As a member of the U.S. Military of another well financed well trained Army, The AR. As a mass conscript Army Soldier of a poor country, lacking proper maintenance equipment, and training, I would choose the AK.
@jetfuel545 i am and i have the same rifle but with a full stock. and i had an m4 when i was in the marines. i didnt choose to use the optics either, i always used the iron sites but that beside the point. if you only scored those hits your doing something wrong. the 300 yard target in all usmc rifle ranges is to simulate someone in the prone position. i think you have a sight alignment / picture problem. try focusing on the front site tip not the target...
@danthman114 There is no sight alignment/ picture problem. Watch my other videos. I said in the video that I know the rifle is capable of better accuracy, and I did not have the time behind the trigger as with the 74. I am a competent shooter, and am aware that with this rifle/ammo and using irons you are not going to score 5/5 in the head. Maybe with a scope on the perfect day with match ammo. If you would like to show otherwise, please make a video and post as a response. Thanks
@jetfuel545 im not trying to talk down to you bro. im just saying that the group on paper tells the whole story. peep sights are different than the ak and harder to learn. that group was sight alignment / picture. you'll see, once you learn that weapon, YOU CAN get all 5 in a 12 inch circle at 300.
@danthman114 Lol, dude watch some of my other videos, I have a peep sight on the AK. The Krebs. Dont worry not taking anything personal, Im just trying to talk logic/reality. 16" lightweight, XM193, iron sights, 5/5 head shot, 300yd, not going to happen. Never, ever. Sorry to be brash, but I am not going to listen to fairy tales, or AR fan boy talk. This is a reality channel
@jetfuel545 im not a fan boy or what ever you call it. i own both and like them equaly. i know what an ar can do. try this. try the marine corps corse of fire and you will see. better yet, just get the 300 yd target...
@danthman114 So do I, and the rest of us who know are aware that you are blowing smoke up everybody's A__. Since you have the same rifle why dont you duplicate this test and show us how its done. That means draw an silhouette outline of an actual size like I did with a 6x8 size head. Fact is, you can not identify a drawn outline 6x8" at 300 thru iron sights. So quit feeding everyone your B.S.
@danthman114 And the rifle is capable of 2.5moa, that = 7.5" @ 300, better than 12", My AK will shoot better than 12" @ 300 and the AR will out shoot that. And still 7.5" group is not going to be 5/5 head shots. May be if we were talking side profile of a neanderthal head, then 7.5 might work. lol
@jetfuel545 the human head looking at it from the front is about 7". like i said if you cant get all 5 in the head at 300 youre doing something wrong because i know it can be done at 500 yds with a regular ol worn out m16a2...
@danthman114 M16A2 has a longer sight radius and is way more accurate than a 16" pencil barrel. Also, with the M16A2 you are using the more accurate Nato green tip ammo with that 1-7 twist not the shit 55gr Federal shit ammo.
@danthman114 The fucking ammo he was using is only capable of 3-5 MOA at 100 meters. How is he supposed to get 5" groups at 300? The God dam fucking ammo you guys in the military get is way better than the asshole shit we get, even when we get the nato green tip that ammo is rejected military. Iron sights with 62gr I can get 2" with iron sights with the asshole federal crap XM193 I get 4", it's just shit ammo.
@danthman114 Check out jetfuels video standing with AK74 at 100 yards, he can hit an oreo cookie. and as his sidekick I would ask you to check out my video hitting a oreo cookie at 50 yards with a glock standing. We ain't bull shit artists here, we can out shoot pretty much everyone on youtube except for top pro shooters and the top 10%.
@kaptainkashstacka Well, I can out shoot most likely 99% of AK owners(on youtube), they usually never fire past 25 yards and never actually zero the rifles. Me and jetfuel545 take them long range. Of course if you ever seen the dopes on here that isn't saying much.
@danthman114 He was using 55gr M193 ammo which is complete dog shit ammo, if he used the 62gr Nato ammo from Winchester the groups would be twice as good. Everyone of my AR15s have been way more accurate even with the reject rounds(62gr nato), the M193 ammo is total dog shit.
@semiautoriflelover A lot of Marines in combat arms are very good shots. I have seen kids straight out of the war with 8 hours of pistol training score in the 240's on Fed shoots.
@Warpath2198 i have no idea what a score of 240 is but i am assuming they are shooting at GARGANTUAN human silouettes...i shoot beer bottles because that is the size of the varmits i hunt. 40 to 100 yards is typical. my personal best is 200 yards. OPEN SIGHT scopes are for the mentally challenged. if you cant see a rock chuck you wont be able to put the scope to it anyway
@Warpath2198 It all depends on what their experience is with that particular firearm. What Semi was getting at was a lot of people think if you were in the Military you are automatically a great shot. This is not true.
@jetfuel545 /agree...i just read an article in the rifleman magazine that says the typical recruit only gets 60 shots at silouettes before they are sent to iraq or afghanistan. and the officer in charge of the marksmanship program suggests to parents that if they want their son or daughter to come home alive teach them marksmanship BEFORE they join the military. in ww2 65% of the populace lived on farms and already knew how to shoot. but by vietnam it was only 17% and it took 30k rounds/kill
True it does depend on target size. But, without optics, your front post is going to be bigger then a head at 300 yards. I suppose if you used a bench rest, but still! Awfully hard.
@danthman114 I bet you shoot Prairie dog's at 300 with iron sights too with your colt lightweight sporter. After all if you can shoot 5/5 in a 6x8 target at 300 who needs a scope 8 )
@semiautoriflelover This guy just spins everything. he is just ass hurt that an AK shot so well. he is a pure Ar fan boy. And you know how they can be. Like talking to a brick wall. I guess he thinks if an National match AR shooting match ammo can shoot a 6" group at 300 with irons, then a pencil barrel Ar should be able to do the same with XM193 ammo.
@danthman114 My targets are real life size, 6x8" head. And for not knowing how big my targets were how can you leave a comment saying if I did not score 5/5 head then i was doing something wrong? are you a troll leaving spam? Or just leaving B.S. comments? Hmm...
@jetfuel545 none of the above. like i said im not talking down on anyone, no need to get pissed. i know for a fact it can be done. the pic on my channel is on the 300 yd line in phoenix at the creedmoor shoot...
@danthman114 And dont vote down a vid because you cant handle talking fact. Talking to you is just like talking to a liberal about gun control. No matter how much sense you talk, reality does not sink it.
@Warpath2198 lol what? that is not that hard to do. with a rifle especially. pistol takes a bit longer but can still be done usually in less than 20 shots. dont project your lack of shooting ability on me.
@Allante715 300? He said he can make 5 out of 5 on a head at 500 meters with a worn out M16A2. My friend who was in the Marines said he couldn't even see a head on a target at 500 meters.
You have an M-4 length barrel which is shorter than the M-16 and not as accurate. And as for the AK of course the AK-74 is much more accurate than the AK-47
it was meant to be.

@dragonseptor The comparison was made to be as fair as possible. Same barrel length, profile, and similar cartridge. These are the results

@antiigravity

@antiigravity I know you like the AK, but why do you keep spamming this stuff on every video.

3. By contrast, soldiers armed with rapid fire weapons were much more likely to have fired their weapons in battle. These conclusions suggested that infantry should be equipped with a fully automatic rifle of some sort in order to increase the actual firepower of regular soldiers.
antiigravity 1 month ago

Project SALVO
1. In 1948, the Army organized the civilian Operations Research Office. Operations Research Office. Over 3 million battlefield reports from World War I and World War II were analyzed and over the next few years they released a series of reports on their findings. The conclusion was that most combat takes place at short range. In a highly mobile war, combat teams ran into each other largely by surprise; and the team with the higher firepower tended to win.
antiigravity 1 month ago
2. Our military purchases M4s from colt for $1799, Izhmash sells brand new AK-100 series rifles for $160 USD, You cant tell me its 7x more accurate. AK's are perfect for combat accuracy. War is not static, fire and maneuver is what wins the fight. Better ergos, accuracy, modularity, range and recoil manageability, lethality, and battery of operations means nothing if your weapon malfunctions 15 yards from the enemy.
antiigravity 1 month ago
Precision:
High ARs with match grade barrels don't last very long, AK 74s have less recoil than the AR does, the AR produces 5.3 Joules of recoil. AK in 5.45 only produces 3.9 joules of energy all. AK bolt has roughly 5oz more of moving mass. There are multiple manufactures that develop heavier bolt carriers for the AR to help reduce recoil, and give it longer dwell time.. In this case heavier is better. Look at the formula to calculate kinetic energy...
antiigravity 1 month ago
@antiigravity

Brass cased vs steel cased ammo? How Fair. How about you get some Wolf for the AR and then come back and try again.
Allante715 2 months ago
@Allante715 No AR owner would use wolf ammo, that stuff is pure dog shit, a real test is using the ammo that is made for the rifle, in this case brass cased ammo for AR15 and steel for AK. Don't cry now.
semiautoriflelover1 2 months ago
@semiautoriflelover1
Don`t cry now
Allante715 2 months ago
@semiautoriflelover1
Besides if you don`t want to try wolf try Silver Bear 5.45. The point is you will lose accuracy with a steel cased round. If that somehow distorts your world view of the AK and AR, I am sooooooooooooooooooo sorry.

I think some of the accuracy issues with the ak is the crap ammo everyone gets for it shit I'm guilty of that with mine. I buy nice ammo for my AR and crap bulk forte ak cause it's cheap. elox02 3 months ago

If you hand load your ammo for the AR it makes a night and difference from Walmart ammo. Seriously store bought ammo sucks. Reload your own! you will be amazed at the accuracy. You can clover leaf at 100 meters with a little practice.
sandrifter 5 months ago
@sandrifter It sure does. I reload for most of my rifles. check out some of my other videos, like the Rock River National Match AR. This XM193 ammo does not score high for accuracy at range.
jetfuel545 5 months ago
@jetfuel545 XM193 is match ammo for most youtube heros, they claim they can get 1/2" groups with it. Walmart 7.62x39 is more accurate than Federal XM ammo. Federal puts saw dust in the cases to cut costs.
semiautoriflelover1 4 months ago
To each his own, but you need to work on your accuracy with your AR. Though your video shows that with a decent shooter the AK is an accurate weapon.
Shwanzig 5 months ago
@Shwanzig This guy fired a 2.2" group 5 shots at 300 yards with his new AR15, you will never see that done on youtube by some of the fakes, this AR is a thin barrel and is not super accurate, just bone stock with crap ammo.
semiautoriflelover1 4 months ago
Sorry not a good review. He needs to work on his trigger finger. Both groups should be tighter. Nice try though. Bring a guy that can shoot both rifle to make it even match. Im my opinion, with this distant, with the intermediate round, both of them are accurate. The AKs are prone with bad skeptics because of shooter dont know how to use the AK sights. The sights position are a challenge wit AR shooter like my self. In a hand of experiene AK shooter, AKs are accurate.

semiautoriflelover1 2 months ago
can you do an AR vs AK Accuracy test with a Scope? this way you can maximize the potential of both platform. I know there's so many variables involved, like weather conditions, ammo, location etc etc, but lets just say out of the box accuracy. I have a feeling that the AR would win any day, but dependability wise? obviously will go to a reputable made AK. I just went to the dark side again, after selling my AR10 6 months ago, I just can't live with an AK w/o an AR :D
koolmike79 5 months ago

EHSPP16 6 months ago
@EHSPP16 Thanks for the comment and your service. That is good accuracy for x39 Akm. I would be quite happy. I really like both guns. Im not a lover and hater like some are. They both make me happy. I think the most critical factor is always going to be the man/woman behind the trigger. That is what is going to get the job done.
jetfuel545 6 months ago
@EHSPP16 I agree with what you said, my norinco AKM was 3-5" depending on ammo, the usual groups were 10 shots inside 4" with iron sights, with my M4 the accuracy was total shit, the groups were never better than 3", my other AR15s with 20" barrels were all in the 1-2" range with the average being 1.5" with nato green tip ammo. I love the guys who claim an AK is getting 1/2" groups, lol, then they never post a video for proof.
semiautoriflelover1 4 months ago
three things i can tell off the bat. breathing. staring at the target and trigger squeeeze. you want a clear front sight post on a blury target. proper sight alignment. shoot on the exhale. and a slow steady trigger squeeze. dont anticipate your shot. i would like you to try this again using what i just said if possible. awesome weapons though.. my two favorite assault rifles ever.

why does everyone compare the 7.62x39 to the 5.56x45?
if youre going to do an ak vs. ar debate, compare the 5.45x39 to the 5.56x45, since the 5.45 was made in response to the USA's newly adopted 5.56x45
compare the 7.62x39 ak47 to another .30 caliber US made equivalent, like the m1 carbine. the AK would win hands down and all the magpul mallninjas would throw a shitfit so thats why you never see this comparison. roofles

@cultofjimjones He's firing a 5.45 here. Or didn't you look? And there ISN'T a US made service rifle equivalent to a 7.62x 39. The M1 carbine is a pistol round.
WurledPeas 5 months ago
@cultofjimjones 30 carbine is essentially a magnum pistol round.
If we compare 5.45 vs 5.56 than 7.62x39 would be vs 7.62x51.
The 5.45 was designed to be equivalent to the 5.56 nato.
The 5.56 nato was created because the 7.62x51 was heavy.
fusionstar916 2 months ago
I have been training Afghans and Iraqis on the AKM for more than 5 years. You're shooting an AK74, so you cannot say this test is a comparison of the AK to the AR. Try shooting a 7.62x39mm AK at 300 and take a look at your group. It is a well know fact that the 7.62x39 shot from an AK will group between 4-6 inches at 100m. The Russian manual states that 6 inches is considered acceptable accuracy. Average AR groups at 100 will be under 2 inches, less than 6 inches at 300. Shoot your AR more!!
flash233cyahoocom 9 months ago
@flash233cyahoocom I cannot call this AK vs AR? Is the AK74 not an AK? This test is fairer and more accurate than shooting an 7.62x39 against an H-bar AR. Is that what you wanted to see? Now that would not be fair would it?
jetfuel545 9 months ago 27
@jetfuel545 Your vid is exactly as described...you'll never be able to make all of the internet "experts" happy, Thanks for the video. And to flash233c, it is not a difficult task to shoot an AK w/7.62x39 under 4-6" at 100m with practice. I suggest spending another 5 years training yourself on how to shoot instead of being another youtube hero.
cmaugel1 8 months ago 23
@jetfuel545 i'll agree with you that it should be 5.45 vs. 5.56...but the ar-15 IS a more inherently accurate system..not to say that the ak isn't accurate enough inside of 300 yards. the 5.56 has higher muzzle velocity than the 5.45 but the 5.45 has a higher sectional density...the ar-15 properly lubed and maintained is plenty reliable, but the ak is the more inherently reliable system!!! much ado about nothing in my book,,,either one is good enough and will kill the hell out of ya all day!!!
smartacus88 7 months ago 2
@smartacus88 +1 This should be obvious to most people yet people are so quick to deny the obvious in defense of their platform. My personally choice is an AK-47 SBR for close range and an accurized AR-10 for long range. The AK-47 is more reliable and fires a heavier round than an AR-15, the AR-10 fires an even heavier round and is more accurate than either the AK or the AR-15. Being a semi-auto it can also lay down a decent amount of fire at closer ranges in a pinch.

No need to say something about what you do not know. For the 7.62 * 39mm AK - 5 MOA accuracy at 100 yards - this accuracy of AK considered to be unfit for use and sent for recycling or repair.

AGS301 8 months ago 2
@flash233cyahoocom its also a well known fact that afghans and iraqis are only given limited training and that a fully trained soldier going semi auto should atleast get around 3" groupings i can get that easily with my WASR which for those of you who don't know is a civilian variant of the AK-47. But im not going to sit here and lie, AR is the more accurate rifle, I wouldn't try to make a shot with an AK-47 at any more than 300 Meters. With an AR, 400-500 meters. AK-74, 400 -450 meters.

@jetfuel545 i am and i have the same rifle but with a full stock. and i had an m4 when i was in the marines. i didnt choose to use the optics either, i always used the iron sites but that beside the point. if you only scored those hits your doing something wrong. the 300 yard target in all usmc rifle ranges is to simulate someone in the prone position. i think you have a sight alignment / picture problem. try focusing on the front site tip not the target...
danthman114 10 months ago
@danthman114 There is no sight alignment/ picture problem. Watch my other videos. I said in the video that I know the rifle is capable of better accuracy, and I did not have the time behind the trigger as with the 74. I am a competent shooter, and am aware that with this rifle/ammo and using irons you are not going to score 5/5 in the head. Maybe with a scope on the perfect day with match ammo. If you would like to show otherwise, please make a video and post as a response. Thanks
jetfuel545 10 months ago
@jetfuel545 im not trying to talk down to you bro. im just saying that the group on paper tells the whole story. peep sights are different than the ak and harder to learn. that group was sight alignment / picture. you'll see, once you learn that weapon, YOU CAN get all 5 in a 12 inch circle at 300.
danthman114 10 months ago
@danthman114 Lol, dude watch some of my other videos, I have a peep sight on the AK. The Krebs. Dont worry not taking anything personal, Im just trying to talk logic/reality. 16" lightweight, XM193, iron sights, 5/5 head shot, 300yd, not going to happen. Never, ever. Sorry to be brash, but I am not going to listen to fairy tales, or AR fan boy talk. This is a reality channel
jetfuel545 10 months ago
@jetfuel545 im not a fan boy or what ever you call it. i own both and like them equaly. i know what an ar can do. try this. try the marine corps corse of fire and you will see. better yet, just get the 300 yd target...
danthman114 9 months ago
@danthman114 So do I, and the rest of us who know are aware that you are blowing smoke up everybody's A__. Since you have the same rifle why dont you duplicate this test and show us how its done. That means draw an silhouette outline of an actual size like I did with a 6x8 size head. Fact is, you can not identify a drawn outline 6x8" at 300 thru iron sights. So quit feeding everyone your B.S.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@danthman114 Buy a $150 Kodak Zi8 HD camcorder and flip the video of you shooting, this is a video channel not just talking.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@danthman114 And the rifle is capable of 2.5moa, that = 7.5" @ 300, better than 12", My AK will shoot better than 12" @ 300 and the AR will out shoot that. And still 7.5" group is not going to be 5/5 head shots. May be if we were talking side profile of a neanderthal head, then 7.5 might work. lol
jetfuel545 10 months ago
@jetfuel545 the human head looking at it from the front is about 7". like i said if you cant get all 5 in the head at 300 youre doing something wrong because i know it can be done at 500 yds with a regular ol worn out m16a2...
danthman114 10 months ago
@danthman114 M16A2 has a longer sight radius and is way more accurate than a 16" pencil barrel. Also, with the M16A2 you are using the more accurate Nato green tip ammo with that 1-7 twist not the shit 55gr Federal shit ammo.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@jetfuel545 That colt has a 1-7 twist, way better suited for 62gr nato or up to 77gr.
semiautoriflelover 10 months ago

We ain't bull shit artists here, we can out shoot pretty much everyone on youtube except for top pro shooters and the top 10%.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@semiautoriflelover Lol, well thats pretty much NOT everybody!
kaptainkashstacka 9 months ago
@kaptainkashstacka Well, I can out shoot most likely 99% of AK owners(on youtube), they usually never fire past 25 yards and never actually zero the rifles. Me and jetfuel545 take them long range. Of course if you ever seen the dopes on here that isn't saying much.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@semiautoriflelover OK
kaptainkashstacka 9 months ago
@danthman114 He was using 55gr M193 ammo which is complete dog shit ammo, if he used the 62gr Nato ammo from Winchester the groups would be twice as good. Everyone of my AR15s have been way more accurate even with the reject rounds(62gr nato), the M193 ammo is total dog shit.

@danthman114 The myth that a Marine can out shoot a person who never served is just that a myth.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@semiautoriflelover A lot of Marines in combat arms are very good shots. I have seen kids straight out of the war with 8 hours of pistol training score in the 240's on Fed shoots.
Warpath2198 9 months ago
@Warpath2198 i have no idea what a score of 240 is but i am assuming they are shooting at GARGANTUAN human silouettes...i shoot beer bottles because that is the size of the varmits i hunt. 40 to 100 yards is typical. my personal best is 200 yards. OPEN SIGHT scopes are for the mentally challenged. if you cant see a rock chuck you wont be able to put the scope to it anyway
amyhuk 9 months ago
@Warpath2198 It all depends on what their experience is with that particular firearm. What Semi was getting at was a lot of people think if you were in the Military you are automatically a great shot. This is not true.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@jetfuel545 /agree...i just read an article in the rifleman magazine that says the typical recruit only gets 60 shots at silouettes before they are sent to iraq or afghanistan. and the officer in charge of the marksmanship program suggests to parents that if they want their son or daughter to come home alive teach them marksmanship BEFORE they join the military. in ww2 65% of the populace lived on farms and already knew how to shoot. but by vietnam it was only 17% and it took 30k rounds/kill

@danthman114
Quick Question. How the hell can you see a head at 300 yards without optics? Let alone hit it?
Allante715 10 months ago
@Allante715 300 yards isnt THAT far. granted i have no idea how big his targets were but it is possible...
danthman114 9 months ago
@danthman114
True it does depend on target size. But, without optics, your front post is going to be bigger then a head at 300 yards. I suppose if you used a bench rest, but still! Awfully hard.
Allante715 9 months ago
@danthman114 I bet you shoot Prairie dog's at 300 with iron sights too with your colt lightweight sporter. After all if you can shoot 5/5 in a 6x8 target at 300 who needs a scope 8 )
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@jetfuel545 LOL, Prairie dogs. I shoot them standing at 400 with my .22-250.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@semiautoriflelover This guy just spins everything. he is just ass hurt that an AK shot so well. he is a pure Ar fan boy. And you know how they can be. Like talking to a brick wall. I guess he thinks if an National match AR shooting match ammo can shoot a 6" group at 300 with irons, then a pencil barrel Ar should be able to do the same with XM193 ammo.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@jetfuel545 Maybe he is talking about Rosie O'Donnell's head? that head is so huge you could print all shots inside that 20".
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@danthman114 My targets are real life size, 6x8" head. And for not knowing how big my targets were how can you leave a comment saying if I did not score 5/5 head then i was doing something wrong? are you a troll leaving spam? Or just leaving B.S. comments? Hmm...
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@jetfuel545 none of the above. like i said im not talking down on anyone, no need to get pissed. i know for a fact it can be done. the pic on my channel is on the 300 yd line in phoenix at the creedmoor shoot...
danthman114 9 months ago
@danthman114 And what does that have to do with your false comments? Stop the spin buddy.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@danthman114 And dont vote down a vid because you cant handle talking fact. Talking to you is just like talking to a liberal about gun control. No matter how much sense you talk, reality does not sink it.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@danthman114 I can hit a 12" plate standing at 100 yards with a handgun, I'd like to see a marine do that.
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@semiautoriflelover i can hit a beer bottle (2 1/2" X 7") standing at 100 yards with a pistol.
amyhuk 9 months ago
@amyhuk 300 feet with an open sight and anything bigger than a 22 caliber? lol bullshit.
Warpath2198 9 months ago
@Warpath2198 lol what? that is not that hard to do. with a rifle especially. pistol takes a bit longer but can still be done usually in less than 20 shots. dont project your lack of shooting ability on me.
amyhuk 9 months ago
@amyhuk In how many shots? Make a video, we would love to see.
jetfuel545 9 months ago
@Allante715 300? He said he can make 5 out of 5 on a head at 500 meters with a worn out M16A2. My friend who was in the Marines said he couldn't even see a head on a target at 500 meters.
semiautoriflelover1 4 months ago
@semiautoriflelover1 Maybe you're friend isn't that good of a shot......
pac6010 4 months ago
@danthman114 You do know you are talking to a former Israeli commando right? How many combat kills do you have?
semiautoriflelover 9 months ago
@danthman114 The guy was shooting a 16" Pencil Barrel AR. Ill have to agree with jetfuel, you are out of line.
