Dont get me wrong I love Santana's music and legacy , but I believe his super ego does not let him play the best that he could!

Its so funny because he is one of the guys that always talk about playing soulful and bashes on the KIDS that play fast licks, But what does he do the minute he picks up the guitar? I love fast licks I ll play them every time I can and wont bash on the guys that do that , except for when they only pick really fast a pentatonic scale without any concern of where they are headed as a target tone,and fool innocents into thinking they are awesome! Trucks on the other hand solid player, quick too!

those years of meditation did not do much to mellow Mr Santana's super-ego....I loved the early stuff, including Welcome, Caravanserai, Borboletta - and the Oneness album, the Swing of Delight and Illuminations albums...what happened to his (Carlos') mellow, humble character....perhaps just a ruse?
