  • Totally agree with him. That passage is really awkward (Tchaik, 2nd page, around the middle part). Tried almost every fingering combo possible, the fingers just don't fall well.

Having large hands, on the other hand, rocks when you're playing Paganini. Big jumping shifts, tenths all work well when you have huge hands.

  • @GabrielleduVent I totally agree, and I'm glad I'm not the only one!

  • from the ist movement of the violin concerto (a couple of minutes into the movement).

  • what Tchaikovsky was he playing from in the beginning?

  • @2010thevoice Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto

  • my hands are big and fat as hell but i can still play the violin!!

  • what song is he playing

  • you know what they say ,

    big hands big ...

  • He plays it fine. I don't know what he's bitching about.

  • @cello39mn I wouldn't call it "bitching": he is drawing a comparison between passages which are more comfortable or less so for himself to play for various reasons. That discomfort clearly doesn't prevent him from playing the less comfortable one with brilliance as we hear.

  • its cool how can he play this extremely difficult pieces while sitting chillin around!

  • ''oh there is this passage in tchaicovsky that is not comfortable'',but than he can play it while he his brushing his teeth

  • We love you Mr Perlman.

  • Hehe. I've big hands and none of his skill.

  • Fat my ass, you have golden hands lol

  • Oooooooooooooo.........

I guess you had enough to fight in your life..and you're a REAL WINNER !

aaand..to your large AMAZING hands..You are a guy with a LARGE HEART:-)

    ..pleasant smile too;-)

    Thank You !!!

  • thanks a lot for the video!! How did you get this???

Is it inside a edited DVD or Videotape??

    I'm very interested in it,

    Thanks!!

  • You are very welcome! It came from a rather short "sampler" videotape. I don't think it is available but maybe somewhere it is. I think this was the most interesting part.

  • thanks for your answer! and for your videos :)

    regards

  • He barely had to take note of where he was going for those shifts..they were simply "there", just a whisper away...IF my husband could play, he could reach well over a full octave without even trying...with a good stretch he could reach (on the E string) I am estimating..to the B..since he was not really trying to hold the violin correctly (it inconvenieced him too much to placate me)

  • @OriginalMoonbeam who gives a damn about your husband...
