Whites are wasting their time and money seeing these big apes play. Consider that there has been at least 5,000 years of civilization most of it sports free. Great thinking does not come from sports minds.
good video but you gotta take into account that drugs like hgh and some various types of testosterone are unable to show up with modern drug tests... so just because your favorite athlete passes a test doesn't mean he's clean. Just look at UFC's Randy "HGH cures aging" Couture, the poster boy of MMA but he clearly exhibits all the outside side-effects of hgh abuse...
you couldnt be more wrong right now. sorry dude theres not enough room in this comment box to make my point that your way wrong about college sports. BUT i kinda agree with you on A rod. i feel the same way about Bonds he was still a GREAT player before steroids and the steroids could have inflated his numbers later in his career but how many people that WERE on steroids hit 73 homers in a season? not very many. it will take a lot more than steroids to make an average player into an all star.
Damn ur right scoop i feel so bad for college footbal players. They r gods on and off the feild, they r loved by all, they get pussy thrown at them all day everyday, free education that would usually cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Must be terrible to be a college athelete.
Scoop, I agree with you on better rights for college athletes. They should get an extra stipend or at least minimum wage based on the hours they put in beyond the maximum practice time the NCAA. The question is regulation. Would you pay a RB from USC the same as one from Georgia Southern? Is it based on what your program earns?
I don't agree with adding a major of the sport. Most athletes that end up as coaches or commentators major in communication or physical education/coaching.
Really? So then what about girls that are cheerleaders? Should they be major in cheerleading?! Masters in Cheering. Classes: spirit 101, spankies 101, toe touch 101
I agree except that most College Athletes (approx. 80%) do not go on to the play professional sports for that reason alone they should be able to make some money from their athletic abilities so they can better themselves in the life post-college.
average NFL career 3,5 yrs (not for life) so yeah no need for a masters on that shit... as for the analyst or commentator jobs u need to study journalism or communications. Not football!
Ooh Scoop, you are so far off that it isn't funny! The overwhelming majority of college atheletes revenue sports DON'T find careers in professional sports. The trade off of the scholarship for not having to work thru school or for tuition not being a burden is more than fair. If they take the opportunity to gain the same kind of start in a profession that any other college student has, without having to pay for the costs of a degree, is fair enough. It is very unenlightend point you argue.
Look at Keshawn Johnson. ( Think I butchered his name)
He's was an athlete, when he retired he used his degree in Design. If there such a program I think too many people would take it and there wouldnt be enough jobs for it. Any other course has plenty of space for everybody.
I think the reason they make these players take other courses is because there is an end to football and after the end there is still life. So to me it is important for these players to continue to make a life after football.
Scoop, I can see where you are coming from about getting a degree in football. If a pro football player blows out a knee and can't play anymore, what education does he have to fall back on?
I think it's good the way it is, because if the pro football player can't play anymore, he can fall back on his education, like business administration.
A-Rod has ALWAYS carried his teams. Mariners, Rangers and now the Yankees. College athletes should get a little extra money in their tuition refund check because they risk so much. But, a lot of athletes are Communications major so they can be a commentator or a analyst.
i agree scoop 100% they should atleast get something they are screwed if they blow their knee and most of the time they loose there scholarship. they need to fix that u have good points scoop
Actually they are treated Great...They get a Free Ride to College. That's thousands of dollars...Most of them won't even make it to pro and the people aren't coming for a specific player. They are coming for the team..If that's the cause, we need to pay High School Players.
I disagree with you on this one. First their are over 50-60 kids who play football on a college team and on even the best teams only 9-11 will play pro/semi-pro. The atheletes are getting a college education and basically joining a fraterinity for free. The biggest problems with the atheletes is that the college is failing to make sure they are student atheletes so if they dont make it or even if they do they will know stuff.
yankees suck you about to run into a buzzsaw know as Cliff Lee
I hate to go against the grain but here's the truth, those kids know what they signed up for. Ultimately, they're getting a chance to go to school . Not everyone has that shot. Stop whining or stop playing. Nuff sed.
6) most of the money earned by the schools goes to IMPROVING EDUCATION
7) you dont need a degree in NFL theory/history to play it. the degree you earn is for AFTER your football career. making it a football centric degree would be too limiting to these students. almost NONE of them will end up with a NFL related job after college/pros.
Good ideas though. It is important to explore the ideas, changes for the better may come from discussing it.
Yeah, but not all of these guys are gonna survive the pros past their early thirties, and that pro money isn't going to take them far. So they still need to learn something else productive.
as much as i want to disagree, i really cant. he has some very valid points

college sports should count as a credit or half a credit, the hours put in are more than equivalent to a course (basket weaving)
hackingtime88 10 months ago
ya no. Those athletes have tuition paid for and spending money. Fuck them for being whiny. Go through college and get paychecks after you graduate

1.good points bmd66.
2.college is a big money scam anyway, the system is very money-hungry and it's sad.

A few points from a current college player:
1) pro athletes cannot bet on sports either. if players could, they would be tempted to throw the game in favor of the side they bet on.
2) student athletes are well compensated by the free education (up to 50k at a private school)
3) student athletes have the best medical coverage in the world, for free
4) if youre in college you are NOT a pro. a very SMALL FRACTION of college football players ever make it to the pros.

5) this is amature sports. speaks for itself
6) most of the money earned by the schools goes to IMPROVING EDUCATION
