Yes That's what I hate about the satellite grips too even soapy water or hairspray wouldn't keep it still.. I ended up switching them out for Oury Grips black.
@FreshNoobDancer You can the lock down grips at your LBS for about 25 bucks, same design and the stay in place. I put them on mine check out my video.
Nice bike. I can't decide between the FX 7.3 and the Specialized Sirrus Elite. Both have the Deore components and are selling for $599 at my local bike shop.
@MidwoodBrooklyn Hi, incase you haven't decided yet.. I have some info.
The Trek is about $50-100 cheaper than the Sirrus. The Trek's components are of better quality, but the Sirrus comes with a carbon fiber fork. The Trek comes with an ergonomic grip while the Sirrus has standard grips with barends. I own the Trek 7.3 FX and I love it, but if someone stole my Trek and replaced it with the Sirrus, I wouldn't mind at all.
I have a 7.3 FX and I loooove it. Only thing it's lacking is the awesome disc brakes. I can't wait to load mine up with racks and do some long distance rides
hi guys, i bought this bike a few weeks ago...one thing...my front brakes are controlled by the left hand lever and my back brakes are controlled by the right. This is the way the guys in the shop assembled it. They do the same with all the other Trek bikes they sell. Is this standard? I am accustomed to the opposite set up, so when i have to stop suddenly, I automatically go for the wrong brake and I find this really dangerous and have taken a serious tumble already because of it. Any ideas?
@mosesposes77 It's the standard to have the rear brake controlled by the right hand (the strongest hand for most people). The best thing would be to learn to break using both hands as it's the most efficient way of stopping. Or you could just change places of the brakes, or get a bicycle-repairshop to do it for you.
@mosesposes77 See chapter 3, page 26 of the user manual, it covers how to reverse this to normal.
Regarding mt69298's comment about "learning to brake with both hands", this doesn't really apply because you'll always be braking differently with front and rear brakes on any bike, especially off road or when cornering on the road when jabbing on the front brake will low side you instantly!
I just bought one of these and let me tell you all it is a sweet ride for the money! Been riding a Trek Fuel EX 7 and I feel like I got off the cow and got on the horse!
That music is unnecessary.

Hy, i would like to buy the same model of the 2012 line.
Have some questions: is it comfortable? any vibrations etc.
Is it possible to put bigger tyres on it?
thanks
