@destuctir They cant have a shield and claw. I use 4 claws and a shield in my squad. I don't know if that is the best, but I win Grand Tournaments. Does your friend?

@destuctir 3 hq units is against the rules, getting rid of one of them will allow you to change the combat squad to a tactical. a rhino and lrc isnt realy much in the department of transporting yout troops accross the board. you lack power to take out tanks and should probably take a devastor squad instead of the combat squad that is if you make your list legal!
Hey Jawa, incredibly good painting as normal, never sent you a msg before but I always enjoy your vids, Blood Angels have been my favourite chapter for 14 years.. Just one little thing about the "Las?Plas" Razorback, the weapon itself is counted as just one weapon, so if you get a weapon destroyed result, both weapons go as they're mounted on the same turret. Same goes to any Razorback weapon be it twin-linked heavy bolter or whatever. Conversions are very cool though, Keep it up.
@SassMaestro Thanks man. As far as las/plas, the official errata/faq clears up the issue. They are indeed considered separate weapon systems, so they require two weapon destroyed results to take out. Take a look!

@staticbatch No, DC with PW cost 35 points. Termy cost 40. But both have Furious Charge and Feel no pain with the priest in there, and the termies have 2+/5+ saves. Big difference after wiping out a squad on the charge and facing a turn of shooting!

Just a question about vanilla marines, would 1x land speeder, a couple of rhinos, 1x tac squad and 1x combat plus 2x assaults and a standard commander be a decent army? I plan on adding land speeders, scouts, etc, but just wondering if this will do for now.
First off love these vids! Just a couple questions 1) Why the landraider crusader? Wouldnt a standard landraider with its laz guns give you a little more bang for your buck? and 2) With your dred, might it not be better to deep strike him into the thick of battle rather than run behind your main force, give your opponent some thing to chew on while you bear down on him?

@screwmanx Hmm, well, I don't really do any conversions, just mix and match kit bashing. Most of my models are MKI and MKII vets. As I create my new infantry i will keep that in mind.

Chris wouldnt it be smarter if you had short ranged guns on the razorbacks that are out and about capturing objectives.you can move 12 already and shoot one gun. because your blood angles.but why not go with the assault cannon?
@AutarchAndrew because to be effective AC have to get close. I can sit back behind terrain and other tanks and shoot the las cannons, and if I need I can get a little closer and shoot the las and the plas. Plus with the BA tanks, I can sit back much longer, and then charge out when I need to at the end of the game. Las/plas, with 3 killer shots at close range is just as effective vs troops as AC are. But LP are way better vs tanks and at long range.

Also, I'm surprised that the assault squads are like...'assault squad lites,' if you get my meaning. It's interesting seeing the bare minimum on squads at this points level.

I think this is your first video I really enjoyed and learned a lot from. You explained everything in detail. I myself am trying to build an Iron Warrior army on similar principles, with the necessary chaotic changes of course. Still working the ins and outs.
@ThornVictorious The dread as I play him costs 150 points. The list itself is probably a bit over because I have changed it slightly since the Nova Open. But as I said, it was not an exact number, just "about" 2k points. :)
@jawaballs No worries, Jawaballs. Like I said, I am no expert on BAs. I play Codex Marines (the only regular who does anymore at the FLGS), so yeah. I've been inspired by a lot of your work, though. Your army videos and blog are among the few sources I view as credible in regards to how Marines can be played competitively. The tactics do change lots since BA's and Codex are so different now, but it gets me thinking. Props!

@ModelKlaani Yah, cant really compete with some of the SW builds. As far as a tank vid... no clue! I'm pretty sure Army Painter is coming out with a SW grey spray which will make tanks that much easier.
hey jawa i have some mixed feelings abuot the vangaurd vets in my blood angels list they have jump packs which makes their heroic intervention very useful but i only have the points space in 1750 for a squad of five, what do you think.
@wakcedout drop em. at best they will land, assault a squad and die. They may or may not kill the squad they assault. To make them really effective you have to spend over 200 points on them and I don't see them doing much other than eliminating some small annoying psycher squad or something. Buy an assault squad in razorback with PW, Melta and las/plas instead and use the rest of the points to buy a priest to go with them.
@jawaballs thanks for the advice i think i will run them in my pick up games until i can get an assault squad going and looking at the cost points of the five man vangaurd vets compared to the ten man assault squad with jumps packs i think it should be an easy swap although i might have to change the sergeants load out and if it free's up enough points i can put extra armor back on my vehicles.
I didn't mind that you weren't putting out videos, I love them don't get me wrong but you have a jawababy now, its unreasonable for everyone to expect you put out 5 videos or something a week. @JakeWithSocks that is re roll to wound, chaplains and the squad they have joined get a reroll to hit on their charge in the assault. if the chaplain is in a death company squad, the squad rerolls to hit and to wound

@DrunknStoner Well, this list is made to win tournaments. If you are fairly new to 40k there are two trends of thought about writing lists. Writing a list to win tournaments, or writing a list to play fluffy casual games. In my experience, both have their merit, but they definitely do not go together. A good tournament list takes advantage of redundancy and the codex's unique strengths. In my case, 3 predator tanks and 4 cheap razorback squads. Your gaming club is in the vast minority.
So basically, it's between playing to win or playing for fun. This is a to-win army. Stick with your for-fun army, makes more friends and makes the game more interesting.

@mortuus8 Ive seen it tried, and tried it myself. The sad fact is that for the cost of a 10 man wraithguard squad with a farseer, i think you can put a squad of assault terminators in a land raider crusader. They do not equate!

I have to agree with c2; lasplas is a single weapons system. If it were true that they were two different weapons systems then you it should exclude the option to take a storm bolter. I mean no offence by this, but I believe you are cheese hunting. IMO, since it replaces a single weapons system it must be a single weapons system. If it were two I believe it would have been written as replacing a HB with lascannon and THEN given the option to take a TL plasma gun. I could be wrong though.
@GenAhab Not really cheese hunting as it is a very minor difference. Most times razors are destroyed pretty easily. It would not exclude the option to take a storm bolter, since a rhino could actually have two. I simply read it as the codex saying that for 35 points you get a las cannon and a twin linked plasmagun, which is exactly as it is written. I certainly hope that is the way it is because I dont want to remodel my guns! But the first time I encountered the combo, this was how he played.
@jawaballs True enough, but even a slight advantage is better than none at all. Also, a rhino may be able to take two, but a razorback cannot. Although I suppose it doesn't really matter.

ok so whats up with twinlink plasma guns lately? ive seen a few armys with them and i havent figured out where you get the rules for them so is it a FW weapon that you can now use? is it a Blood Angel rule? or what? and whats up with the TL heavy flamer razorback? new rules as well ? o.O
@mam2087 - Blood angel vehicles are all of the fast type, where as codex space marine vehicles are not. BA pay extra for this of coarse in the base cost. Fast vehicles may move 6" and fire all weapons.
Furiosos need to be taken in 2+ and in drop pods, or taken in a storm raven to be useful. Dual talons will tear through weaker hordes, and infantry with out S8 power fists. Running them across the table is almost worthless. I say almost because they MIGHT do something late game. For the points you would probably want to take a multi-melta attack bike or two and hide them behind your other tanks until they can swoop out to pop armor.
@jawaballs - keep in mind, the priest bubble works through the sides of a tank. The bikes can receive the FnP bonus while riding along side. Speeders won't get this.
I liked the vid but JB technically the Lascannon and Twinlinked plasma gun are a single upgrade, and if you go by the original model on the Mk1 Razorback it is one weapon system. Unless you can link to where that has changed just pointing out that they are one wpn not singled out. if that was the case then instead of a Storm bolter is would add storm bolter entry and a Twin-linked plasmagun entry.
@c2ccards Hmm, interesting, but in the entry the upgrade says "Instead of Heavy bolter upgrade to: Lascannon and twin linked plasmagun." I would think that if it were a single weapon system, it would say Lascannon with TL Plasmagun no? The Razor does not come with a storm bolter, not that you said it does. But in this case, with 40ks permissive rules system, if it does not say "as a single weapon system" we have to assume they are separate.
@jawaballs i agree the rulebook is worded badly but i figure since there is a precidence of a previous model with it model'd with the lascannon and plasmaguns i would presume that the model intent has not changed. As i said just my interpretation and how i read the entry :)
@c2ccards Got an answer! In the Space Marine codex it has been FAQd that it is indeed two separate weapon systems. Think that tidies that one up! Phew!

anyone who would argue that both the lascannon and plasma guns were destroyed because you can't just remove one is a bit of a douche ;)
shame about the dread's non-performance. it's so rare to find models that are awesome and also useful.

@daisoke2001 It is an item from Space Hulk. I used a terminator storm shield arm, attached a tactical marine left hand, and just glued it in place.

That Furioso could've done with a bit of matte varnish perhaps, he was very shiny.
Otherwise cool stuff, I'm not a competitive player so I can't comment on list builds really... just a painter :P

I think this is your first video I really enjoyed and learned a lot from. You explained everything in detail. I myself am trying to build an Iron Warrior army on similar principles, with the necessary chaotic changes of course. Still working the ins and outs.

I'm no expert on BAs, but I think the dreadnought is over points if this is a 2k list. Otherwise, it's 2k exactly. Sorry if I'm wrong. :D

@ThornVictorious The dread as I play him costs 150 points. The list itself is probably a bit over because I have changed it slightly since the Nova Open. But as I said, it was not an exact number, just "about" 2k points. :)

@jawaballs No worries, Jawaballs. Like I said, I am no expert on BAs. I play Codex Marines (the only regular who does anymore at the FLGS), so yeah. I've been inspired by a lot of your work, though. Your army videos and blog are among the few sources I view as credible in regards to how Marines can be played competitively. The tactics do change lots since BA's and Codex are so different now, but it gets me thinking. Props!

@ModelKlaani Yah, cant really compete with some of the SW builds. As far as a tank vid... no clue! I'm pretty sure Army Painter is coming out with a SW grey spray which will make tanks that much easier.

hey jawa i have some mixed feelings abuot the vangaurd vets in my blood angels list they have jump packs which makes their heroic intervention very useful but i only have the points space in 1750 for a squad of five, what do you think.

@wakcedout drop em. at best they will land, assault a squad and die. They may or may not kill the squad they assault. To make them really effective you have to spend over 200 points on them and I don't see them doing much other than eliminating some small annoying psycher squad or something. Buy an assault squad in razorback with PW, Melta and las/plas instead and use the rest of the points to buy a priest to go with them.

@jawaballs thanks for the advice i think i will run them in my pick up games until i can get an assault squad going and looking at the cost points of the five man vangaurd vets compared to the ten man assault squad with jumps packs i think it should be an easy swap although i might have to change the sergeants load out and if it free's up enough points i can put extra armor back on my vehicles.

I didn't mind that you weren't putting out videos, I love them don't get me wrong but you have a jawababy now, its unreasonable for everyone to expect you put out 5 videos or something a week. @JakeWithSocks that is re roll to wound, chaplains and the squad they have joined get a reroll to hit on their charge in the assault. if the chaplain is in a death company squad, the squad rerolls to hit and to wound

@DrunknStoner Well, this list is made to win tournaments. If you are fairly new to 40k there are two trends of thought about writing lists. Writing a list to win tournaments, or writing a list to play fluffy casual games. In my experience, both have their merit, but they definitely do not go together. A good tournament list takes advantage of redundancy and the codex's unique strengths. In my case, 3 predator tanks and 4 cheap razorback squads. Your gaming club is in the vast minority.

@mortuus8 Ive seen it tried, and tried it myself. The sad fact is that for the cost of a 10 man wraithguard squad with a farseer, i think you can put a squad of assault terminators in a land raider crusader. They do not equate!

I have to agree with c2; lasplas is a single weapons system. If it were true that they were two different weapons systems then you it should exclude the option to take a storm bolter. I mean no offence by this, but I believe you are cheese hunting. IMO, since it replaces a single weapons system it must be a single weapons system. If it were two I believe it would have been written as replacing a HB with lascannon and THEN given the option to take a TL plasma gun. I could be wrong though.

@GenAhab Not really cheese hunting as it is a very minor difference. Most times razors are destroyed pretty easily. It would not exclude the option to take a storm bolter, since a rhino could actually have two. I simply read it as the codex saying that for 35 points you get a las cannon and a twin linked plasmagun, which is exactly as it is written. I certainly hope that is the way it is because I dont want to remodel my guns! But the first time I encountered the combo, this was how he played.

@jawaballs True enough, but even a slight advantage is better than none at all. Also, a rhino may be able to take two, but a razorback cannot. Although I suppose it doesn't really matter.

ok so whats up with twinlink plasma guns lately? ive seen a few armys with them and i havent figured out where you get the rules for them so is it a FW weapon that you can now use? is it a Blood Angel rule? or what? and whats up with the TL heavy flamer razorback? new rules as well ? o.O

@mam2087 - Blood angel vehicles are all of the fast type, where as codex space marine vehicles are not. BA pay extra for this of coarse in the base cost. Fast vehicles may move 6" and fire all weapons.

Furiosos need to be taken in 2+ and in drop pods, or taken in a storm raven to be useful. Dual talons will tear through weaker hordes, and infantry with out S8 power fists. Running them across the table is almost worthless. I say almost because they MIGHT do something late game. For the points you would probably want to take a multi-melta attack bike or two and hide them behind your other tanks until they can swoop out to pop armor.

@jawaballs - keep in mind, the priest bubble works through the sides of a tank. The bikes can receive the FnP bonus while riding along side. Speeders won't get this.

I liked the vid but JB technically the Lascannon and Twinlinked plasma gun are a single upgrade, and if you go by the original model on the Mk1 Razorback it is one weapon system. Unless you can link to where that has changed just pointing out that they are one wpn not singled out. if that was the case then instead of a Storm bolter is would add storm bolter entry and a Twin-linked plasmagun entry.

@c2ccards Hmm, interesting, but in the entry the upgrade says "Instead of Heavy bolter upgrade to: Lascannon and twin linked plasmagun." I would think that if it were a single weapon system, it would say Lascannon with TL Plasmagun no? The Razor does not come with a storm bolter, not that you said it does. But in this case, with 40ks permissive rules system, if it does not say "as a single weapon system" we have to assume they are separate.

@jawaballs i agree the rulebook is worded badly but i figure since there is a precidence of a previous model with it model'd with the lascannon and plasmaguns i would presume that the model intent has not changed. As i said just my interpretation and how i read the entry :)
