  • John Carpenter always made sure his movies had memorable soundtracks no matter how well they did at the box office

  • Ghosts is underrated. It's not one of carpenter's top films, but it's a good one.

I've been midly or fully disappointed by a lot of films from directors that I love, but so far never by one of his.

  • The riff for kickass is fucking kick ass someone should cover it

  • wouldnt be surprised if the bass which appeared at 3:03 was recorded by Buckethead as well.

  • @JonnyYang123 I agree with you. The bass running through that section of his recording is exactly his slap style.

  • Does anyone know what distorion pedals they`re using?

  • @RDdaNINJA Probably none, just amps.

  • @PennGR Ah. I really like the soundtrack, and I want my guitar to soud like that.

  • vai is embarassing himself lol

  • Thrash Heaven.

  • Bucket can definitely play, but what was so great about what he did on this particular video that makes him "kick Vai's ass"? He essentially just did what Eddie Van Halen has been doing for years....tapping. Vai can do that, too. Lots of players can these days.

  • @Pacfanweb

8 finger finger nubbing isn't typical tapping. I don't think EVH can play it like Buckethead does it. And oh, about Vai, I think it's hard to compare him and Buckethead. It's matter of opinion. And please, listen more Buckethead's songs and you find out that he can do a lot more than just " tapping "...

  • @YoLpIsBest

Yes, I know Bucket can very much play, and is awesome. I said as much in my original post.....just that I don't see what he's doing here as anything that's new or groundbreaking. EVH could do it. Satriani could easily do it. Chris Broderick could easily do it. Lots of players can. That's all I'm saying....what he's doing is great, but not so great that it's some new playing style or something nobody else can do.

  • @Pacfanweb

    Play VH's "Eruption"

Then play the part that Buckethead plays in this.

Massive difference in terms of talent.

  • @JBOstler

I'm sure EVH could easily play that part, if he so desired. Especially the EVH from his younger days...not sure about EVH 'now', since he had surgery on one hand. But still, I watched that again, and honestly, it's nothing that EVH didn't play in his concert solos years ago. Watch some of his concert solos from the older days....he did lots of stuff that never was on a record.

Regardless, even if Bucket was doing something "newer", it's still a direct descendant of EVH.

  • @Pacfanweb

I can't find an EVH video where he ever taps more than on two strings, with four fingers. Buckethead's using all six year, with eight fingers.

It's true that what Buckethead is doing here isn't particularly revolutionary (Mainly cause he's been doing it since 1990), but to say that it's nothing EVH couldn't do is a lie.

  • @JBOstler "A lie"? Seriously? A lie is something that's not true and you say it anyway. Neither of us know whether it's true or not....just because you say you haven't SEEN it done by EVH doesn't mean he "Can't" do it.

Plus, not like Bucket invented 8 finger in the first place...it's been around much longer than him. Jeff Watson of Nightranger was one of the first. Stanley Jordan was, too. Vai can do it, Satch can, lots of people do it......and you think Eddie CAN'T? Ridiculous

  • I can't believe how much Vai's playin' is expressive on this one.

The sounds he can make out of his guitar are alive !

  • 1:30

    The original facemelter

  • Bucketheads frequency......it's... it's over 9000!

  • buckethead kickass

  • Am i the only one that thinks that this Movie is one of Carpenters Best and just Kicks Ass!?

  • Way to over use the tremelo bar, Steve

  • lol at steve vai, even his sound manager looked embarrassed...the look on his face was like "wtf, this sounds like shit!"

  • You're kidding, right?

  • who do you think shit themself first.Bucket for meeting one of his idols or JC for...Wait.JC shit himself because bucket brought thunder-sex-juice-to the ears!

  • JC has NOT scored all of his movies. His greatest, THE greatest movie of all time, The Thing, was scored by Ennio Morricone

  • Yeah, The Thing is Carpenter''s masterpiece and one of my all-time favorites...but Aliens is still king of the 80s flicks.

  • YEAH BUCKETHEAD XD

  • how could you not have buckethead score something for ghost of mars !

  • i have not see it

  • ghost of mars? is that a movie? when does it come out? or is it out?

  • Steve vai shows off how well he can jack off here...

  • Bucketehad FTW!!!!!!

  • bucketheads song is really badass if u watched the movie and when ice cube and everyone else fiight the people it plays a kickass version of the song hes playing in the part and its ounds good ul like it tob bad its sounds way different in the movie and the soundtrack + it plays it at the end of the movie its a track name forgot what it was

  • The Master of the Universe, Giant Robot and Anthrax! cant get better

  • argg fuckin' hate steve vai x)

  • Jesus christ that tremolo system is fucking godly,The only bridge i could mash that much and never go out of tune was a Kahler Spider bridge man that thing smoked any Floyd i ever used.

  • I think it is funny how Buckethead even wears the mask behind the scenes. I bet he records all his stuff wearing the mask and bucket.

  • he just have it cause its recording there are vids with him without mask but blocked out

  • Comment removed

  • mask

  • hard to tell bro..uhm..real?

  • LOLLLOOOO

  • Would have been awesoem to have a Bucket and Vai jam.

  • the question is;

    "What couldnt they pull off?!?!"

    hahah!

  • @Banedarkwolf Buckethead does more than jordan. Please don't even mention jordan.

  • wuts the name of the song?

  • lol buckethead showed em

  • lol, i love buckethead. hes such a freak :)

vai was pretty awesome as well

  • if anyone is woundering the pedal on bucketheads lap is a DOD envolope fliter.

  • So Vai met Buckethead?!

  • vai must be like "What the hell?" when he sees buckethead playing. Who's solo was selected though?

  • bucketheads.

  • Tool should definitly have done some score for this mans movies

  • The movie was good really, its special. not like most hollywood movies.

  • that seriously makes me want to learn music

i mean thats a perfect example of how u that sound eventually comes to u

  • To be honest, the movie was horrible, but the music was awesome.

  • well i think vai owns this vid thats just my view

  • i dont think thats him he has longer hair and he be playing his les paul but idk i guess he was smart not to so it wasnt obvious

  • That's definitely Brian Carroll out of costume. It's 100% the same dude in the ClassX videos. I'm able to confirm the positive match using forensic science methods. Brian doesn't play his modified white Buckethead baritone guitars unless he's in costume. He's well known for playing a variety of guitars. Out of costume he plays normal 25.5 inch scale guitars as well as non-LP baritones. Out of costume guitars are either black or sunburst, and never white.

  • well buckethead is a better guitarist than brian carroll

  • I agree. Brian never really does anything as Brian, and ClassX was only a classic rock nightclub band that quite frankly sucked ass (Brian had the skill and talent, but couldn't explore it in ClassX). The Buckethead scheme was a great media allowing Brian access to explore and express his real talent, and put on one hell of a clown act at the same time. As Buckethead, he is surely MUCH better. He'd be nowhere just being Brian Carroll, just another dime-a-dozen shredder.

  • Dammit! There's a reply to to guitarfreak714 under my screen name. Had to change my password! Ouch! ClassX is a group of very talented musicians and Brian is much more than just a shredder! I had to do a search of wfd57fatman on Google and came up with lots of crap that I didn't enter, ticks me off! His writing impersonates me spot on, but he also commented on nipslip videos!

  • Not sure who you're on about, but the guy at 5.13 is the same detailed at 4.22 and identified as Frank Bello, Anthrax' bassist. I don't see how you can positively ID him at 5.13 anyway considering the light flare round his head, but the fact that he's playing bass is sort of a giveaway.

  • That's not him...Why would Buckethead be in costume for a portion of it but not the rest of it? Obviously, Brian was in costume for all of this work or he wouldn't have been at all. The guy you see is Frank Bello.

  • Please see my reply to eirik22 below. I have for about a month now became quite convinced that I was mistaken and that is in fact Bello playing bass in that brief shot, as you and others have been correct to point out. BTW I see you have lots of great videos in your YT collection! Thanks for posting!

  • hhahaaha wtf, no, brian has longer hair, and i think its a bass player.

  • Yeah... maybe you're probably right on this one. I went back and viewed the vids over and over, doing stop frames again and again, and I now think it's just a similar face expression due to angle, similar posture and the bass player does have hair similar to what Brian used to have many years ago. Brian does own a bass and can play it, but no I think it's your call on this one.

  • B-head!!

  • vai must be like "What the hell?" when he sees buckethead playing. Who's solo was selected though?

  • a room full of bullets, amazing cast we have here,Buckethead you rule.

  • holy fuck its like a room full of gods.

  • at 3:36 thats the actual God O' meter going off the charts.,- all hail the bucket

  • YES!!!!

  • You never mentioned that Steve Vai is in this video. And doing some of his amazing as usual stuff.

  • The movie isn't that good but the soundtrack is great.

  • ok is 3:45 to 3:47 part of Jordan cause it sounds like it to me and im not sure so if it isn't please don't get to angry at me im just getting in to Buckethead

  • Nah that's not Jordan. Glad you're gettin into bucket but try to branch away from Jordan, try Colma, Giant Robot and Pepper's Ghost. Anything by Bhead is amazing.

  • thanks i do listen to other songs by them not just Jordan i was just wondering i just downloaded Enter the Chicken and Buckethead Land 2 and i can't get enough of them lol they rock and im glad you responded to fast thanks

  • Word man, keep rockin in the free world

  • does anyone know where i can get the soundtrack for this movie, or at least help me find the beginning one.=P thx.

  • no. if you want to see what buckethead looks like without his mask google it and you will find an old news paper clipping from his hometown, from when he was ranked 8th top guitarist in the world

  • Erm, so, what is he ranked now then?

  • dont know anymore, i think its still the same

  • that depends on every different person.

  • no that is what he was judged. i know everyone has different opinions on guitarist its what people voted him

  • 3rd as of 2007

  • serious, fucking hell:P. i could beleive it as he is shit hot and very creative

  • do any u guys know wat kind of effect buckethead used in the intro of his solo it was on his lap i think

  • Vai's solo was awesome, and BH still rulez!

  • Buckethead puts a smile on my face every time I see him play.

  • omg buckethead is god and john carpenter is god at composing music like in his movie The Thing

  • Buckethead is a genius. He kicks vai's ass.

  • Buckethead and Vai are apples and oranges, they both have their own distinct musical identities which is a pretty fucking admiral achievement IMO.

  • @Ruebe85 I don't understand why you would compare such vastly different guitarists, especially when Buckethead lists Vai as one of his main influences and Vai is reputed to be one of if not the best living guitarist.

  • @NeutralAtJSP - im not saying ALL his stuff is awful , but some of it really is, i do agree he has some fantastic tunes also...just sayin it like i see / hear it is all.

  • @Ruebe85 - true he is a genius, but kicks vais ass...? geta grip, theyr completely different styles. alot of BH stuff is awful, shure hes facst and does some amazing tapping, but theres a little biut more to music than that. Its ok to get excited about BH but no need for a wet dream.

  • @fugyoutoo I agree, don't ever compare musicians, each is it's own individual and unique, but saying Buckethead's music is awful? Have you heard his albums Colma, Electric Tears, just to name a few. Those are beautifully written and just magical. I suggest checking those out

  • that video fuckin sucked.....except for buckethead

  • has anyone actually seen his face before

  • he only really wears the mask and shit on stage. most of the time he does'nt even bother backstage. people just don't photograph him out of respect

  • now thats respect :)

  • Yeah right, no-one's EVER snapped him backstage and he lets his meticulously crafted public image slip as soon as he meets his fans? Nonsense.

  • Hah, love how Scott Ian strokes his beard at 1:07

  • steve vai!!

  • I have never been a big fan of this kind of music in films, but I have to say that this music was pretty good and fit the movie perfectly. Great job!

  • what a cool job. I would love to do any of this for a living

  • I heard this movie sucked

  • I like how after buckethead plays the director goes.. "That's neat" haha

  • and buckethead with no bucket...

its not buckethead. same with his mask

  • It's steve vai...

or didn't he meant the one with the white guitar?

  • I think he got a Les Paul because he needed one in order to play with GNR. This video was recorded shortly after he joined. But then I guess he's really enjoyed playing with one ever since!

  • I could be wrong...

BUT he had his LP way before he went to GNR...

And... it's not a normal LP but heavily customized cause HE wanted that...

It's just a guitar that he wanted and not that he needed...

  • this must be when he first got his white les paul cause you can see the pickup selector but then later got it moved

  • actually dude, he has two white les pauls that look the same, one is heavily modified, but the other isnt

  • Stevie Vai is about as spaztic as i am. Thats a lot

  • he wears that stuff so people don't see him for his look or fashion, but purely for his musical talent...and it's cool

  • Can anyone PLEASE tell me why this guy wears a bucket on his head & mask!?!? ... He is obviously an incredible talent with the guitar- no question. BUT I really think that the shtick with the KFC bucket/white mask greatly detracts from his music/talent ... Why in the world does he do it? when did he start wearing this costume, does he ever take it off? does he give any reason for wearing the stuff??????

  • It's exactly the opposite of that, actually; the best way I can describe it is that Buckethead... is his music. He is one with it. Buckethead does it for his music, as he is one- I... I can't describe it. Once you get into... it, you'll get it. Enter the coop ;)

  • steve and bucket are both pretty whipass, but i think they are too fucking perfect to be compared

  • Why is it that EVERYTHING Buckethead does is crazy, amazing, unbelievably talented, and sexy all at the same time?

  • when steve vai finished his lick, john seem liked no choice but to raise a thumb up...(just to appease him), but when buckethead plays, he didn;t raised a thumb, he was awed !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always wondered if Buckethead wore the bucket and mask while recording.

Everyone is looking at him while playing...thinking, "damn, I wish I was that good."

  • buckethead did not write the power rangers theme...he covered it and made his own version.

steve vai sucks? go fuck urself u dont know shit about anything noob.

  • i sure am glad you're going around sticking up for steve vai lol fanboy.

  • yall are ALL fucking children just watch the dam vid without argument, steve vai is to buckethead is to yngwie malmsteen is to paul gilbert they are ALL masters at what they do just in different ways so SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

  • ty i agree they can do it however the hell they want...ps bucketheads way is best!

  • wat bit u in the ass

  • steve vai sucks

  • bucket head is better than anthrax

  • Wow, you've apparently never listened to any of his albums. He plays slowly MOST of the time. ;O

Also, as far as not being able to write a song with mass appeal? Jordan ring a bell? Power Rangers? Soothsayer? Yeah, thought so.

  • i never knew buckethead made power ranges theme song till last night

  • read the buckethead faq.. he didnt write the thyme song.

  • how can you say that vai SUCKS compared to anyone? opinion is opinion, but youre opinion is wrong. just because vai doesn't play at supersonic speeds and play twelve tone solos like buckethead doesn't mean buckethead is better. vai is just more western.

  • dude vai doesnt suck ok thats down lol but who gives a crap if u compare i dont necesarily think speed is everything like yngie hes not very good he just strings alot of notes to gether and hope ppl doesnt notice but buckethead accually plays music and vai hes good but i think he uses the wammy to much thats just my opinion

  • you know, you'd think he'd take his mask off in the studio. i wonder if he wares that all the time...

  • I'd like to see Vai, and Buckethead jam. I think there styles could mesh pretty well.

  • where's claypool?

  • Bucket was perfect because he's wierd haha

  • best is bucket head, Vai, Satch and a couple other but those are the top

  • It takes a bold motherfucker to come in a chickenbucket and mask around those kind of heavyweights hahah buckethead is christ!

  • do you know who he is are you fucking retared he blows anthrax out of the water in talent and showmanship. ive seen both of them buckethead and anthrax and they should be lucky to have had him come in and play

  • you fucking moron. I'm giving props to buckethead.

  • Holy crap john carpenter looks like hes gonna keel over right then and there

  • I don't understand how some shitty movie got all these great artists to work together to create a sound track.

  • well i know buckethead would jump at the chance to work with john carpenter

  • i think vai has more control of the instrument than just about anyone out there

  • i sit here lonely amongst you guitar guys (because i am a bass player) and i can appreciate any g-players style. thats where the challenge lays you know. be it laying a nice groove around vai's licks, or the dramatic tempo and timing changes of b-head. thats where the fun is. dont get me wrong, i play guitar as well and i admirer everyone from shredders to power chord players, but you fuckers need to drop this shit and just push it aside man. you each have your opinion and leave it at that...

  • Glad to see someone finnaly just say it... :)

  • all hail the mind of the bassist for his lack of ego and give a dam make his words wise and meaningful. Dumbness aside i really do agree

  • Buckethead > Vai > Anthrax

    End of story.

  • You said it,bro. :P

  • for some reason i felt that Vai sould have done more of his shred style rather than the melodic with the tremelo. thats just my oppinion, Buckethead on the otherhand ..... what can oyu say about him. he's just bad ass

  • shimineblah

  • Hey you watch your mouth kid you know nothing about music. Anthrax is bad. And Buckethead actually DOES right good stuff...try researching an artist before judging you idiot. Haters like you always try to find any way to criticize shredders or good musicians. GET OVER IT. THEY OWN,you'll just have to live with the fact that there are better bands than FallOut Boy.

  • Your a fuckin bitch, and im a skinny white boy and i got pussy half an hour ago..i get all the pussy i want.. so fuckoff you fat black cunt

Buckethead is a fuckin monster... show me some of your vids..do even own a guitar?? Have you ever played one

  • fuck you you pice of shit. go back to your room and cut your self y u listin to fall out boy

  • are use calling me a rasist prick? lol i jus prefferd vais guitar in this one dude

  • not you. fucking doodoomuffin is the prick.

  • are you totaly shitting me? bucket groves like no other. you obviously havent seen any videos other than ones like this where he shreds. go educate yourself before you talk down about somthing. prick.

  • y the fuck doesnt it mention steve vai his solo was by far the best for the movie and jus the best overall

  • All he did was whammy the hell out of a few notes, which is basically the same thing he does in every song and solo he plays. It's boring, get over it.

  • you don't know what you're talking about and you both should just grow a brain. that solo was lame as hell, but he was hired to do it. as far as that being all he does, dilutedfaith i don't think you've ever listened to steve vai if you make a comment like that.

  • Actually, I was once forced to watch all of Alien Love Secrets, and it was one of the most boring things I've ever seen in my life. Put bluntly, Vai is the most overrated guitarist I've ever listened to, aside from Joe Satriani. Buckethead, John Petrucci, Shawn Lane, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Chris Impelliterri, hell, even John 5 and Regi Wooten are better if you ask me.

  • the thing is, i could find so many people that would substitute any of those two names and insert vai and satriani into the good list. According to people like you, they are all overrated. why cant you just listen to them and like them all? you're just another one of those people that can't appreciate good playing unless its from certain people.. btw the only regi wooten video ive encountered was horrile. him jammin with his bro.

  • No, I'm just one of the people that think that playing the same songs over and over for the last twenty years and never changing anything about it is lame. I'm not saying by any means Satriani or Vai are bad players, just that they're incredibly boring to listen to and/or watch, they don't do anything out of the box or particularly interesting. They're really only popular due to their technical skills, but their songwriting is, in my opinion, terrible.
