@wyattthompson1 No! Whats that? Fucking dick. They breathe through their skin through cutaneous respiration when in the water. Why do you think they have to be wet all the time retard. Google it, a 5 year old would have before they looked like as much as a tool as you do right now.
@MoNgOoSeSxiNxmYxbEd they do not breathe underwater. they need to resurface to breathe. yes they can absorb things threw there skin but they cannot fully breathe underwater. they can absorb small amounts of air so they can stay sub surface longer, if a newt could really breath fully underwater than it would be able to live in a fish tank filled with water. but they cant.
@MoNgOoSeSxiNxmYxbEd calm the fuck down psycho. ok they breath underwater, my life is so much different and the world is a better place now. Thank you
They live on both land and water as that is the ecological niche they fill. Not because they havn't evolved like that over millions of years or anything
I had a Japanese shrimp from '04 to last year, I think. My latest, I bought September '09. My oldest firebelly is from Xmas 2004. She ees my law- ver.
i would not recommend these newts. I had 3 of them for breakfast one morning and didn't feel well for the rest of the day. I don't understand why people keep them if they just make you unwell. They didn't even taste nice.
you can feed them normal fish food. but its not healthy for them. go to your local pet store and ask for bloodworms or black worms. they prefer these and its easier to feed them
haha youre a fucking idiot. where abouts does this mention feeding? i'm guessing the shrimps are a seperate pet, not meant for eating.. maybe to help maintain the tank by eating algae and stuff.
I love your video - I'm glad somebody else keeps big shrimps with little newts. I have 4 CBFN's & just bought 3 Amano Shrimp like yours to eat algae (& newt poo). I thought the newts may try to eat them but they are scared of them as they jump so quick! The shrimps bumble about unhindered while the newts hide in the new plant I bought for the shrimps to hide in! They have taken over the newts' floaty log & steal big clumps of bloodworm at feeding time. I hope they will all get along together.
Are those gold fish in the bak?! Big mistake!! FBN should be kept without other fish, and their tank should be about 25% land and 75% water depending on how mature your newt is. Gold fish and FBNs have completely different water requirements. Also, avoid feeding him pellet or processed food, a better choise is frozen blod worms and the occasional pinhead cricket. Get him in his own tank! Trust me, I've been breading these little guys for over 7 yrs.
When firebellied newts are young juveniles, they will spend most of their time on land and not venture into deeper water. When they get older, they will usually spend most of their time in the deeper water, but some will occasionally stick to land, even as adults.
ive had my shrimp since march 2004 and my wee chinese fire belly xmas 04. white clouds and zebra danios go well. all east asia. how big do japanese newts grow? do they behave unaggressively?
They behave unaggressively to other fish so u can have Poecilia reticulata with the newt but if its hungry it will (Sometimes) bite the tail of the fish.
This newt (Cynops Orientalis) will grow 10.5-13cm.
it definatly depends on how big the newt and the fish is. if it fits in the newts mouth itd try, but may not actually eat it. i have a goldfish that got big and now if i dont feed him enough he nibbles on the newt! he was just a feeder fish the newts never ate and now ive have him like 2 years(maybe less)
how did u make ur tank???? i had a couple and i put sum rocks and a little water and feed it these pellets and sadly they died they didnt eat they didnt move much i went through 4 ofem cos i thought the first 1s were sick
hmm i have a couple of question about nuts so if u can email me at pat_levesque23@hm cuz im interested in getting some again and i cant remember can they stay underwater there hole life or do i need to make land for them so if u can email me plzz big help thanks alot man
I'm not sure if newt's toxin could harm fish living in the same tank. I've got 3 orientalis and 6 "kolibrifish" (Tanichthys albonubes) in aprox. 60 l for 4 months (I know, it's not a long time), and they do well together, fish have produced some fry, too (just 2 of them are being alive now, but because of limited food resources).
you can't he has got it wrong i dont wanna be a boff but the toxins of the newts can kill fish but you can keep chinese fire bellies with japanese and as for the corys add a plec and a few guppies tetras and mollies etc.

some FBN stay under for their whole life while others like stay on land most of the time. FBN have different personalities.
