@kmacmuzikmafia27 i just heard lady gaga acoustic versions and i think they're bad but her lyrics don't go well with the style and they're completely diffrent it would be interesting to see winehouse with fiona apple but i still don't agree with gaga because she is more like a pop girl
@kmacmuzikmafia27 do you know paulina rubio (mexican singer) why don't u listen 2 her? she wanted to sing with lady gaga
but they're not working together lady gaga said i don't even know her! and paulina feel disappointed do you think paulina rubio was good enough f or her?
@kmacmuzikmafia27 Winehouse is terrible. I can't even properly articulate this feeling. She has zero talent, she just hides behind an amazing band.
Lady Gaga, I really have no big qualms with her. She wears McQueen as crazy couture shit and it's very cool. She writes catchy songs that I can dig.
But she, in my opinion, cannot hold a candle to Fiona Apple. Fiona Apple is organic and tortured and a genius, while Gaga can only hope that people view her in that regard. Gaga is fun, yet unoriginal.
I can't really argue about Winehouse since it's just an opinion
(but my comeback would have been: I'm right, your wrong, clean your ears out you idiotic stupid bitch). Ahem...sorry :)
I read an article on Lady Gaga in the new Rolling Stone issue - if you want evidence that she's a bit of a tortured genius, you should read that. I get the unoriginal point, a lot of her songs are purely for dance and fun. Hopefully her new album is a little deeper.
@kmacmuzikmafia27 Well, I'll have to pick up that issue of Rolling Stone. Until then, I'll only have my memory of the Gaga interview in Cosmo and the "I'm the modern Andy Warhol." comment.
Hopefully new insights will help me change my mind about her, I guess.
Fiona Apple kills both, trumps all, and beasts always. Or else I wouldn't have said anything.
Omg! So I had this song on a cd a really long time ago, and lately I have been listening to the album Extraordinary Machine and have been thinking that the song is wayyy different than what I had remembered. THIS is the version I knew.
God its such a tragedy the Jon Brion produced version of this album never saw public release. I honestly think its one of the best albums of all time. I'm talking Pet Sounds/Sgt. Pepper/Ok Computer good.
This version is *far* better than Tymps. It's a prime example of why a producer should never f*** with a true artist's work. No good can come of it...
Both versions have their strengths. This version has an improvised feel to it. However, there is so much happening musically that Fiona's vocals get drowned. However, even though the "Tymps" version has a similar improvised feeling, Fiona's vocals take front and center. Also, there is an underlying beat in the "Tymps" version that drives the song along.
She didn't really say anything stupid, she just seem nervous saying what she said cause she probably didn't expect to go up there competing with best new artiest against jameriqui and hanson (lol), but I believe what she said was something the effect of "this doesn't matter, don't let anyone tell you who to be, be yourself, and screw everyone else... I want to thank my mom, i love you dad, if i forgot anyone, it doesn't matter, whatever."
...Very punk. Very ballsy. She is my greatest inspiration
I think Fiona Apple got as much recognition and fame as she wanted to get. She's still highly regarded and I've seen her name come up countless times in television shows. her music is very well known already, but I do agree with you that she should have gotten more praise than she did. And what stupid thing did she say exactly?
i'll be in the minority and admit that i like the album version better. somehow, this version doesn't sound like something she'd do at all. still love me some jon brion though.
I disagree. I was at friends house when she put this in the cd player, at the sound of the first chord I instantly asked her if it was Fiona and she replied yes. It put me in the mind of paperbag for some strange reason. I always know a Fiona song when I hear one. To each his own, but I likke this version much better than "Tymps, the sick in the head song"
Personally, I can't stand these rough versions -- sound like Brion masturbated all over them, turning them into funhouse mirror anthems for some knock-off Tim Burton flick. Per recent interviews, Fiona hates these rough tracks, too ... she said they turned her songs into "Jon Brion songs." She wants to release the FINAL DRAFT versions of them, yeah, but what was leaked, she's not fond of.
Sometimes, less if more. Brion knew this on Pawn, but either forgot it for EM or completely lost his mind between albums. Thank God this version of EM was never marketed -- it would only have hurt Fi's career, imo.
you're quite naive if you believe the story that sony made up about EM. fiona is contractually obligated to go along with whatever sony says about the project. however, fiona's best friend jon brion has no contract w/ sony, and he's maintained that sony did indeed shelve the record. what exactly do you think please please please was about? the leaked version was not the final brion version. they were rough cuts. and the rough cut of used to love him beats Tymps any day.
So why did I kiss him so hard late last friday night
And keep on letting him change all my plans
I'm either so sick in the head
I need to be bled dry to quit
Or I just really used to love him
I sure hope that's it~

Fiona Apple, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, all acoustic with piano, singing together.
Of course it probably wouldn't work cuz they each have amazing voices and would drown each other out lol, but hey I can fantasize.

Anyways, thanks for the civil and funny argument. Can't find many of those on YouTube ya know. :)
