with the right ball on the right lane you always hook. In my sport club we (1.BC Duisburg) play in the highest class in Germany...it´s common to see that hook....

Tonight at league i had to pick up a standing 7 and i released about 1 foot off of left gutter... it went 2 boards away from right gutter, and then hooked so hard it landed left gutter 8 inches in front of the seven... talk about being pissed...

@rgalli300 Actually, just so you are aware, it is completely illegal to do what he just did. You are not allowed to cross into the lane next to you on the approach. Next time you go bowling, you will notice a line that starts from the approach by the bowlers pit, and divides your lane from the next following up the gutter separation. Maybe you should re-read the rules yourself?

@austbalitos actually no its not... no thumb and 2 handed bowlers do it because they dont have the wrist strength to generate revolutions...i bowl 1 handed with my thumb in and have over 550rpms which can be a huge benefit.. these guys needed to find a way to get those revs... but the no thumb style is hard to control and fell out of popularity so the new fad is 2 handed

From my experience, guys who throw like this are never consistent. Bowled with a guy for 5 years on a scratch league who threw like this. He never threw the same shot twice and his average was well not very average lol. Most of the time he was all over the lane trying to throw that big hook and when he would get it to the pocket, would leave some of the weirdest spare shots. My shot is the 10 board and i stand in the center. A conservative shot that's easy to adjust when lane changes.
@Lugare2011 The more you hook the ball, the more optimal your angle. However, it comes at a downside of having less control. Some people can handle it better than others.
@Lugare2011 Tommy D. is a little different then the house hack no thumber you describe. He beats the best on sport conditions, he repeats shots with the best of them.

That's REALLY not that much hook! Bowlers start from the left like that all the time and still get it to come back. I bowl 2 handed and when i first started off on the left side i kept missing left with the hook, so this really isn;t that much hook

LOL... that was 5th arrow. That's deep, but I've seen about a hundred bowlers who can and have done that. Hell, I've done that. In college bowling when the lanes break down, people from the top schools are playing deeper than that in games 7 & 8.

That's REALLY not that much hook! Bowlers start from the left like that all the time and still get it to come back. I bowl 2 handed and when i first started off on the left side i kept missing left with the hook, so this really isn;t that much hook

@4lifedcfc But most people can't throw it that fast with as much accuracy and consistency with only 2 fingers. Hell, use as many fingers as you please and most people couldn't bowl as well as TD.

LOL... that was 5th arrow. That's deep, but I've seen about a hundred bowlers who can and have done that. Hell, I've done that. In college bowling when the lanes break down, people from the top schools are playing deeper than that in games 7 & 8.
