what u are doing in this video is not safe and should not be followed by ANY ONE. a lot more thorough should have going into the the anchor rig up, and nobody should approach the edge of a cliff with out being tried in as almost all abseiling deaths happen because of people falling of the edge with all the equipment set up but not spending the extra $30 on some extra cord and carabiners, slip and die.
always use dynamic ropes if your climbing. static ropes are only used in cases were there are no shock forces (falls) as far as i know. I own 60m and 70m ropes but it depends on the length of the pitch you are going to climb the most often
you should already be using the harness and tied to the rope (or to the rappeling system) to get to the edge of the cliff wont´ you? isn´t safer that way? thanks and keep safe!
@ThePickledgamer@ThePickledgamer He is showing a setup for a double rappel (two lines through descending device), so in this situation the rope is not tied to the tree but simply around it with both ends on the ground over the cliff. See another video for tying into the rope.
@ThePickledgamer you do not need to tie knots in the rope to connect yourself to the tree in order to rappel. do some reading on it. need any suggestions let me know
if you are rappeling it is much better to use a static line how ever if you are climbing too you can rappel with a dynamic but it is very strechey never climb with a static line it does not cushin your fall so it can hert your back when you fall on your rope most ropes are around 60meters but some are longer that around 190feet i think
Click on my name to go to our channel and check out our rappelling/rock climbing shirts--and the Vietnamese model we enlisted to show them off!
