I think Microsoft haven't lost yet, from what Steve Ballmer said, I assume they clearly know what their target is with Windows. They sell far too many products to fully focus on their far most important. Company' programmer division working on Windows is far too big, they have too many ideas, that make them forget about top priorities. As soon as Microsoft puts back it's goals in the right order, I am completely sure, that Windows will return to dominate our interest.

Your totally right. Microsoft is trying to make Windows do everything and in this process is pushing up the cost. Windows Operating System should be no more than a Operating System. It needs to help foster development of applications for the OS. Making it easier and less costly.

I use Firefox, and I like it. Its too bad that Internet Explorer 6 wont offer tabbed browsing. Internet Explorer 6 comes free with Windows XP home, and Windows XP Professional.

Windows 7 is really just the "seventh" major release. I guess Microsoft just dubbed it as Windows 7. So there you go.

Good question! Microsoft Windows is like a family tree. You got the MS-DOS based and 9x versions, the Server OS version, and the NT kernel based. These are 3 categories. Windows 7 is in the NT kernel platform. I guess Microsoft decided to call it that way. Simply put, the reason why its called Windows 7 is that its the seventh major release. But this is still a very good point.

No way,Windows 7 project should be canceled. Just put back Windows 2000 an Windows XP on the stock market and sell them on stores because they are more reliable. Windows Vista should be discontinued because it always give errors and it's not reliable and Windows Vista does not even have classic log on screen option and I bet Windows 7 will even be worst. Windows Vista is making everything worst and I bet Windows will be the 7. I just giving my input because I know which OS is more reliable.

Windows XP feels reliable, I don't know why. Windows Vista and Windows 7 is just eye candy. Its kind of funny, Windows Vista does not even look like Windows XP at all. Thats telling you something.
