Look guys, whenever you see these big flowing massively circular technique in aikido you need to realise that this isn't the way you use the technique in combat. It is nothing more than a display of or practice of the principles behind the techniques. If you don't get that you're in the wrong martial art or your sensei needs to be retaking his 6th kyu. In reality these techniques are tiny movements, smaller balance breaks and faster applications.
Effortless for him by now. Looks a lot like his dad. :-) Moves in a similar way, too; it's a bit unusual for your taisabaki to resemble O-sensei's that much: his manner of taking steps, even.
That's intentional. This is a partnership you see here. The "attacker" is not being competitive, he is role playing. These videos you see of Aikido are demonstrations of the movements, not combat.
pedritoelmalote, have you ever seen kata... or bonkai.... in any art these will look fake. because there's no such thing as a realistic kata. these are movements and patterns made to teach you whatever the art is meant to teach. throwing a GOOD aikidoka that don't want to is usually harder than you would think, also if u used another art.
Well, in this case it is difficult, he died allready. Bu you are rightg of course. A true "master" will throw you also with high age ... if you PM me where you live I probably can tell you a good aikido sensei ... but if you will be allowed to attack him at will and get throw, who knows ...
@wmsom Do you really think I practice Aikido since 25 years because I can not use it for self defense? And how long do you practice Aikido? Not at all? Lol ... if you would do *any* martial art you had no need to hang out in a "forum" and bash well respected Budo masters ...
@wmsom I have used the techniques do defend myself so I know for a fact they work. If you doubt the art thats fine but show some respect as i will show your art respect(if in fact you really train?). If you can't do that then you need to come by my dojo for a lesson in technique or respect, both are equally painful for guys like you!

It is only a demo, but you can see Morihei Ueshiba, The Aikido`s founder, or Koichi Tohei.

ROFL, it is a "demonstration", you know? HE shows how stuff works ... and is not fighting ...
Also: don't forget the guy is roughly 75 years old ... so what do you expect him to do?

@wmsom U will know it is a self defence in fact, as soon you felt and experienced it.

3代目よりずっと動きが軽い!
3代目も凄い軽いと思ったけど、流石は2代目。道主30年のキャリアは違う、と感じた(初代は更に凄いが)。
