@TheBlueGirlAnime it's the final scene of the movie but some versions don't have it- it is an extension though it was originally supposed to end with Mr. Bennet's acceptance of marriage...but you have to admit it's a pretty romantic addition :-)

jane austen was actually trying to comment on the relentless persuit of marriage and strict hierarchial society of georgian times...pride and prejudice is supposed to be funny. the marriage of darcy and elizabeth is simply austens 'ideal' - so yes she probably did want love but that would have been rare in her times as marriage was about money and economic stability. the marriage of darcy and elizabeth would have NEVER occurred

perfect portrayal of my favorite Jane Austen Novel. She was a lover and it saddens me to think she never had what she wrote so well.

Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen were awesome and I actually believe despite the other movies this is how I imagined the two to be while reading the book.

Pride & Prejudice is my favourite movie and also is my favourite book too. I always read this book I really like it, because I love Mr.Darcy and Matthew Macfadyen(L) :)

Yes both versions are quite different but there is only a certain amount that can be told in a 2 hour long movie compared with the bbc series. I think the makers of the film did a good job.

But both versions are way to different from each other!. In the 1995 one, they followed almost every part of the book, while in the 2005 version, they didn't showed all the characters very detailed.

I have to say that even though i loved Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, Matthew looked much more similar of what i thought Mr. Darcy should look and act.

can u imagine Matthew making the lake scene in the 1995's version though?? OMG!!!! *o*

I watched the 1995 bbc version with Colin Firth. It's ok and Firth is good in the role of Mr Darcy but I much prefer Matthews take on the part. He is still aloof, arrogant and proud but with a vulnerability to him that I think worked really well. And on a purely shallow note...while I think Firth is a fairly good looking bloke, he's got nothing on Macfadyen.

@majikminx I agree with you. in the book even after lizzy ahd decided to accept his proposal he did not lose his stance of arrogance and aloofness even though one did see a gentling of his stature. Macfadyen-gorgeous man that he is-showed that perfectly. and I also agree that he does look more like Darcy than Firth even though Firth is a beautiful man as well.

Personally I prefer the 1995 one, and I don't think Keira knightley is a very good lizzy, but i think I need to watch it again and see how mcfadyen (if that's how you spell his name) does with mr darcy. I love Colin firth as Darcy, he did a really good job. But I need to resee the 2005 one. By the way, this was really well made.
