And if i went to change the display settings on my computer i could see the display setting window on my tv too. But how do i watch mp4 or avi movies on my tv with this? there really is no reason in getting mini display to hdmi because the quality doesn't actually come out HD I think the only way to get HD is a regular hdmi cable.

@offroad259 Well if you just use it, your mac will be the main display and tv you can drag windows there. or you can torn on screen mirroring then close macs monitor wait few seconds. Then move the mouse and your main monitor will be your tv.

No, it doesn't carry sound to the LCD display. It's just video.... I'm all about apple but this is a big drawback, NO HDMI out! So altogether you need an extra cable($50), which combines all together if you only want one cable running to your display. And then maybe a keyboard and a mouse($138). So up and running mac -mini about $800!!! Notebook including HDMI: about $350. The latest mac-mini is just a bad apple...
