In Toronto, they have de-icing pads with stations for aircraft. Summer or Winter (usually, since some aircraft go past the 'artic' on the way to Asia).
@bait28 If I didn't say it clearly, the De-icing pads are designed to allow the aircraft to be de-iced by de-icing trucks, and allowing the 'liquid' to be drained, so it wouldn't take up the space used for aircraft for other purposes.

I love that the A380 had a crash in its first week of service... Pilot didnt realise how large the wings are and clipped a hong kong terminal building! It had to fiy for a few weeks without winglets while they were being repaired!!! nice
watch paying higher fares cause all the airports have to "conform" to this ugly beast. having an a380 is not needed. that's why boeing always calls it right
the dreamliner is gonna knock the sox outta airbutt
i wonder how long it would take to de ice this thing
k8lyn55555 2 years ago
@k8lyn55555 Porbably not long, there's a on-board de-ice system, it's no bad.

@PhysicsTowerTeam idk. i know it works.

@bait28 Yeah, it does :P In flight to get off the ice that built up.

@PhysicsTowerTeam so then how do they de-ice it on ground? hair dryers?
bait28 9 months ago
@bait28 De-Icing trucks? :P

@PhysicsTowerTeam LOL. i'd rather have deicing pads with massive heat lamps or 175,000 BTU Kerosene air dryers.

I wasn't really sure what you mean't :P

@PhysicsTowerTeam i mean at the pad. I don't know what on the trucks... Really big hair dryers?

@bait28 It's a special liquid to remove the ice off the aircraft. Search it up on google, there are several different kinds.
