@KevCal510 ...Poodles that come from solid working lines can be very effective in protection. .....I would rather have a well trained, working Poodle protecting me than a "Pet Bred" Rottweiler, Doberman or G. Shepherd.
Schutzhund and Police training spends a vast amount of time (6 months to 1.5 yrs) building the dogs confidence in his ability to attack a human and not only survive but win. Dogs are naturally afraid to bite people and will usually only nip if even that. Once confidence training is done though maintaining the dogs respect is critical to the owner/handlers safety and knowing how to dicipline your new combat ready K9 becomes critcal as well. Been there, done that, got the shepherd!
There's really no such thing as training a 'guard' dog. Guard dogs are dogs that give you warning that somebody/something is outside your property, nothing more. A guard dog can be any breed from chihuahua to st. bernard. If you want a dog for protection, you need a personal protection dog trained by a professional trainer. And that's such a false statement saying that most dogs will protect you, statistics and other tests prove otherwise.
@halfgoodhalfevil Could not agree more! Well said. I just don't understand how some people feel the need to make a video, not even knowing what they are talking about! Blows my mind.
@MrKp5259 I atched it 2 or 3 times when I first commented. And now after seeing your comment, I watched it again. Im still shaking my head. What the hell is the point? Ive worked with K9's for 6 years now in the CORPS and I have no clue what this lady is even trying to convey. Makes zero sense.
@halfgoodhalfevil YA, tell me about it!!! Everyone seems to think that just because a dog is big and barks that it will actually fight a human w/ malicious intent.
WAKE UP PEOPLE, 99.9% of all dogs will never, ever actually take on a human if needed. And YES, I'm even talking about big & powerful Rottweilers, G. Shepherds, Dobermans, Pit Bulls, etc.
It just won't happen. Unless you are actually afraid of the dog, it will mostly certainly avoid confrontation.
This video should be removed, not at all about what the title says. If I wanted a warning about the completely obvious, I wouldn't have watched this video!!
Sorry, this is NOT a "how to" video --- but simply her opinion. Clarification; most dogs will NOT naturally protect you. Most dogs may possibly bark - which is not defined as a protection operand, and they will typically do it out of fear.
Wow, just like ignorance gives the pit a bad name... this lady gives proper dog trainers a bad name. Not all dogs, and certainly not all breeds are capable of protection work, and most dogs will NOT protect their owners without proper training, temperament, etc. This is too much B.S. for this professional trainer to take. Please don't listen to this lady. You'll just ruin a good dog.
if i do go to court cause my pitbull bit a intruder and they say they going to kill my dog because it ripped his arm off am going to say ok would you wont me to have a gun instead of a dog and kill the inturder or let them live with somthing missing in there life to remind them of the day they tryed to break in a house im i right
@carnypimp You are confusing a dog that fights with other dogs with a dog that is trained to protect its handler. You have a bad understanding of how this works.
A dog that is poorly trained, out of control and is aggressive for pure aggression reasons is not suitable for protection work
This is some houswife that is showing a poodle as as "guard dog". What a joke. Even in the so called "defensive breeds" very few have the genetics to actually fight a man. Even if the dog has the genetics, it must also be taught the mechanics of fighting and how to bite a bite sleeve. Most breeds don't have the Guard Gene so to speak. Even those that do have it, they need to be trained of how to bring it out. Michael Jordan's son may have genetic potential to play b-ball, but needs training
actually, even in the so called "Guard" breeds, the GSD, the Malinois, the Rottweiler, the Dutch Shepard, and the Standard Schnauzer, only less than 1% of these dogs have the genetics to be protection trained. You see, to protect you, the dog needs to have what is known as "fight drive" and have the ability to work away from its handler. The dog is taught the mechanics of biting using prey drive, where the bite sleeve is the "prey" item and later put into "defense" drive, as he gets older.
You should research Livestock Guardian Dog breeds, the worlds best guard dog breeds.
They will kill you if you set foot on their property. Hell, they don't even need training. They are big and powerful yet agile. Some even reaching 100kg yet can run like a smaller dog.
They were bred to protect livestock from mostly Wolves, but also Cougars and Bears.
No offense but they will kill a Husky very quickly, and will finish off a Poodle almost instantly. Poodles are pathetic little girly dogs.
@carnypimp "Their is no CAO breeders in the United States. If find one send me a link."
Yes there is. But there is only 1. Its called AlabaiUSA. Look it up on google. They are top quality breeders. Too bad they are the only CAO breeders in the USA.

@bluegama500 I love Cao's and the Corso both of theirs is very overweight. Their Corso is bigger than nany Corso on the planet. They keep making rest in peace videos about their CAO's dieng. Ever been to their website? I liked them at first they are a joke. You cant buy a real CAO for$500 they are out to make a check. To add I don't hate CAO's just never seen a well bred and trained one in the United States.
@carnypimp Wolves, Malamutes and Huskies have no guarding instincts. They were never bred to be guard dogs.
German shepherd were though. But German shepherds are not true guard dogs by nature. For example they will bark alot but when comeone comes in their yard they will back off without training.
@carnypimp No need to call them up since I have already read countless websites about them. They are all-round gun dogs.
I wasn't talking about a pitbull. But pitbulls are stronger than Poodles by a mile. Pitbulls make horrible guard dogs as well because they simply don't have any guarding instincts.
People who use pitbulls as guard dogs are idiots. You can just walk right in and the pitbull will back off.
@bluegama500 Thank you for clearing the truth on pits. I jumped the gun. I guess I was still a little mad because you called my dogs aggressive. Yet they are not just at home where they need to be aggressive.
@carnypimp You should look up "Caucasian Shepherd" on youtube and watch the first video. his breed will amaze you. They will kill a little overrated pitbull in no time.
They kill large Wolves, so pitbulls would be no sweat.
@bluegama500 Are you talking about the CAO they are not the top gaurd dog. Yes they will kill anything. Yes I have seen videos they grab a pits head and shake for a few minutes and let go and the pit died. Same thing goes with adult Kangals but those are very uncontrollable guard dogs not ideal for a dog to take out in public.
@carnypimp No I'm not talking about the Central Asian Shepherd, I'm talking about the Caucasian Shepherd, they truly are the ultimate guard dog. Agggh Look them up for f** sake.
CAO's are very well behaved dogs if socialized at a young age, same with any other LGD breeds.
You know a Kangal breeder? Well unless you have a large property don't buy one, ever. They bark and bark and bark, they never shut up. They laos need a lot of space to roam free.
@ilovedolly4 Bluegama is an idiot he said from watching my videos my dogs are aggressive. Watch my videos and you will get proof of how well trained my dogs are and how retarded Bluegama500 really is.
A real protection guard dog only protects when you are in danger. So teaching a guard breed is better because they learn when to bite and when not to. Socialize them with other dogs. You don't want your dog attacking another dog instead of a mean person.
another hippy get in the kitchen and make a cheese sandwich she didnt give any info ITS DANGEROUS NOT TO TRAIN A DOG HOW TO REACT IN A BAD SITUATION what so they give soldiers guns and tell them love each other on the battle field and everything will come natural
@ilovedolly4 lol you didn't even send that reply to me.
I don't have to see him if hes half lab. I just know hes weak. He won't protect your yard, trust me. If someone comes in he will just back off. Why? Because he has 0% guard dog genes and is NOT trained.
My dog Chevy he is a lab mix with pitbull and he guards he is a very good dog he walks the side of the fence every night and be barks and howls one night my dad came home from work he went into the back yard and chevy didnt know he was my dad and he ran as fast as he could to go bite the intruder but dad called his name and he was alright
If your dog dont protect you then they obviously dont love you, you shouldnt force a dog to attack someone, if they love you and you get attacked they will help you , if they dont love you they will run. build a bond and love your dog, If you need help, the love will make him act to save you, if theres no love he wont :/
this video is crap. She is saying something completely untrue. Most dogs, if not taught proper bite mechanism, on a bite sleeve, and then put under duress at a later stage in training, don't know when to bite and how to relieve the pressure of the aggressor intimidating them by driving him back. Most dogs faced with fight or flight would choose flight. She is totally wrong
@alexnds1 Yes your right. Most dogs would get scared. But it also depends on the breed. For example some breeds would fight to the death(Komondor, Caucasian shepherd etc), some would run away(Poodle, Labrador etc) and some will fight a bit then run(German Shepherd, Pitbull etc).
If its protecting the owner though then thats another story.
@bluegama500 Most dogs get scared I would hand you $150 to scare my Big Husky or my American Bulldog. Those two will not back away they will keep coming. I have three dogs two of them will break a criminals bones unless they shoot them.
@carnypimp Thats because your dogs are trained. If they are not, then no, they wouldn't attack a person.
FIrst of all, Huskies are sled dogs, not bred for guarding(so they need to be trained) and American Bulldogs were bred for guarding but were not bred very well when it comes to doing their job.
Now would you stop calling me names and actually talk to me like a man, not an angry child.
"I have three dogs two of them will break a criminals bones unless they shoot them."
No dog can break a criminals forearm bones(Radius and Ulna). There jaws simply aren't strong enough. Even the big dogs still can't apply enough pressure to break the forearm bone.
No offense but you really need to research dog breeds before arguing about them with people who have already done their research.
@bluegama500 Your lack of knowledge of guard dogs just makes me go crazy. I said the same thing about Poodles. I met a breeder and was educated on them they make great guard dogs.
why no one show how to train dog 2 attack from start not when they r already traind like my dog he never attack anything and love ppl how can i chnage this and make him attack any 1 i want ?????????
@911ShikoX He obviously dont love you, you shouldnt force a dog to attack someone, if they love you and you get attacked they will help you , if they dont love you they will run. build a bond and love your dog, If you need help, the love will make him act to save you, if theres no love he wont :/
expertvillage where do you get these people... because they don't know what they are talking about... a dog needs training to protect someone in a real event...
i can't believe people wold kill a dog if it bites someone, i mean really dogs are human, they are smart enough to think about killing someone, give a dog a second chance if it bites someone by protecting its owner,
A dog not trained to bite would enter fight or flight response and not protect its owner...so she has no idea of what she is saying. First of all, a dog needs fight drive...and a Poodle is not IT!! 2nd, a dog is taught how to bite on a sleeve in prey drive and letter, defense drive, where the helper is a fighting partner, not a "buddy" . A dog only taught on equipment doesn't develop the aggressiveness to take on an attacker. A dog conditioned to bite and to out is key
@skellingtonkr3w How much do you know? The Standard Poodle is a good working dog / Police dog, FFL and SEALS have a good association with them, now who is a silly boy then....
This lady just said that if your dog senses you are in danger... you dont want it to protect you....The issue is not aggression towards threats, its determining whats a threat... I bet shes a total liberal.
what the hell, that damn poodle aint gonna do shit...i thought the whole point was to bite?i got a doberman and he wont such as show his teeth unless hes gonna protect my family
Whwn i get a dalmatian im gunna have it as a guard dog but i also want it 2 b friendly wiv people so it knows when 2 guard the house and not going 4 people
Most dogs will not protect without proper training. I trained dogs for many years and saw dogs that the owners would swear up and down that their dog would be great for personal protection simply because the dog barked at strangers. Only to find out that the dog would roll over and piss on itself with only mild agitation. Bottom line is ..DON'T STAKE YOUR LIFE ON AN UNTRAINED DOG!
This video is not only dangerous in the misinformation it provides, but also leaves people with the grossly mistaken impression that most dogs will protect their family.
What a terrible video!
Check out garymnk9 channel for some more realistic advice, or simply do some more in depth research for yourself.
lol a poodle and a guard and attack dog?lol poodle are weak girly little show dogs NOT strength dogs.that poodle would get killed by a full grown man if it fights with him.
you have never been face to face with a standard poodle have you? They are very intelligent and are very good guard dogs. They have the jaw and facial structure of a doberman and I wouldnt take one on. You forget what breeds were the original guardian dont assume that because it isn`t a "pit" that it can`t protect itself.
What a waste of time. This video is disseiminating PORR INFO. most dogs may GUARD your house i.e bark but to actually PROTECT...most dogs will cower if not trained properly. The correct way is through protection training and skits where "badguys" are introduced and the dog encouraged to do the right thing. This vid is crap
not true a dog will naturally protect its owner if you have a dog and it sees that someones hurting you it will protect you the only reason people say dogs are scared is somewhat right but wen they know your really in danger they will protect and if you expect your dog not to be scared his first year of life then your retarded
Your right. That is why so many dogs are put down and owners are are being sued and or jailed. Improper training or not trained at all. Biting should be done under control.
that costs a lot of money so i want to kno how to make my dogs more aggressive an simple bite the shit out of anyone that comes through my gate unauthorized plz teach this

@carnypimp A proper guard dog should:
* Be able to tell when you are in danger, when to react, what to do and wait for you to make the decision.
* Have strong guarding instincts and even attack someone if they enter its territory without the owner.
* Be strong enough to fight an opponent.
* Be courageous and protect its owner no matter what.
A Poodle does not fit any of those.
Give me a break, Poodles were never, ever bred to be guard dogs.

If your dog dont protect you then they obviously dont love you, you shouldnt force a dog to attack someone, if they love you and you get attacked they will help you , if they dont love you they will run. build a bond and love your dog, If you need help, the love will make him act to save you, if theres no love he wont :/

@officernick They use them as police dogs in france :)

TrueEpic 1 year ago
this video is crap. She is totally wrong
alexnds1 1 year ago
@alexnds1 Yes your right. Most dogs would get scared. But it also depends on the breed. For example some breeds would fight to the death(Komondor, Caucasian shepherd etc), some would run away(Poodle, Labrador etc) and some will fight a bit then run(German Shepherd, Pitbull etc).
If its protecting the owner though then thats another story.
bluegama500 1 year ago
@bluegama500 Most dogs get scared I would hand you $150 to scare my Big Husky or my American Bulldog. Those two will not back away they will keep coming. I have three dogs two of them will break a criminals bones unless they shoot them.
carnypimp 1 year ago
@carnypimp Thats because your dogs are trained. If they are not, then no, they wouldn't attack a person.
FIrst of all, Huskies are sled dogs, not bred for guarding(so they need to be trained) and American Bulldogs were bred for guarding but were not bred very well when it comes to doing their job.
bluegama500 1 year ago
Now would you stop calling me names and actually talk to me like a man, not an angry child.
"I have three dogs two of them will break a criminals bones unless they shoot them."
No dog can break a criminals forearm bones(Radius and Ulna). There jaws simply aren't strong enough. Even the big dogs still can't apply enough pressure to break the forearm bone.
No offense but you really need to research dog breeds before arguing about them with people who have already done their research.
bluegama500 1 year ago
Look, I'm not having a go at you or trying to insult you. I'm just saying that you lack a lot of knowledge about dog breeds in general.
I actually thought you were around 10 years old until I saw you in one of your videos.
bluegama500 1 year ago
@bluegama500 Your lack of knowledge of guard dogs just makes me go crazy. I said the same thing about Poodles. I met a breeder and was educated on them they make great guard dogs.
carnypimp 1 year ago
@carnypimp I highly doubt a breeder would say that.
But you sound like your telling the truth. If he did say that then hes a complete idiot who has barely any knowledge about his own breed.
Just because you breed them doesn't mean you have researched them.
For example, I could just buy Dobermans and start breeding them without even knowing the history of the breed(even though I do).
They make horrible guard dogs. They are gun dogs, not guard dogs.
Plus they are too weak to stand a chance.

i can't believe people wold kill a dog if it bites someone, i mean really dogs are human, they are smart enough to think about killing someone, give a dog a second chance if it bites someone by protecting its owner,

this bitch is fucking stupid! shes using a fucking poodle! i mean WHAT THE FUCK!!!
skellingtonkr3w 2 years ago 19
A dog not trained to bite would enter fight or flight response and not protect its owner...so she has no idea of what she is saying. First of all, a dog needs fight drive...and a Poodle is not IT!! 2nd, a dog is taught how to bite on a sleeve in prey drive and letter, defense drive, where the helper is a fighting partner, not a "buddy" . A dog only taught on equipment doesn't develop the aggressiveness to take on an attacker. A dog conditioned to bite and to out is key
alexnds1 2 years ago
they are ranked in the top 3 most intelligent dogs, and were originally used for hunting. not so stupid.

@skellingtonkr3w How much do you know? The Standard Poodle is a good working dog / Police dog, FFL and SEALS have a good association with them, now who is a silly boy then....
bobkats 1 year ago
This lady just said that if your dog senses you are in danger... you dont want it to protect you....The issue is not aggression towards threats, its determining whats a threat... I bet shes a total liberal.

What a terrible video!
Check out garymnk9 channel for some more realistic advice, or simply do some more in depth research for yourself.

onlineADHDmonkey 2 years ago
you have never been face to face with a standard poodle have you? They are very intelligent and are very good guard dogs. They have the jaw and facial structure of a doberman and I wouldnt take one on. You forget what breeds were the original guardian dont assume that because it isn`t a "pit" that it can`t protect itself.
MsFxgt 2 years ago
Any dog over 200 pounds can over power the avarage man. And doberman's attack style size and speed is superior to the poodle (in my opinion).
linkinfan12 2 years ago
What a waste of time. This video is disseiminating PORR INFO. most dogs may GUARD your house i.e bark but to actually PROTECT...most dogs will cower if not trained properly. The correct way is through protection training and skits where "badguys" are introduced and the dog encouraged to do the right thing. This vid is crap
cassiusclaynyc 2 years ago 11
not true a dog will naturally protect its owner if you have a dog and it sees that someones hurting you it will protect you the only reason people say dogs are scared is somewhat right but wen they know your really in danger they will protect and if you expect your dog not to be scared his first year of life then your retarded

Your right. That is why so many dogs are put down and owners are are being sued and or jailed. Improper training or not trained at all. Biting should be done under control.
