God, I LOVE the title music in this game!! The chords with the horns are just great!! I don' know which title screen I like better, though. I like how "Mother" has Earth as the "o" in the title, but I like how "Earth" and "ound" zoom in next to the enlarged "B" in the middle, and then the entire title vibrantly glows twice at the end. Maybe they should have done that for the Mother 2 logo, as well, then it'll be my definite choice. :D

I think the localizers actually did an OK job, given the circumstances. I can't tell if the dialogue was so quirky, odd, and engrishy in the Japanese version. Probably though.

If you know anything about Japan, you'll know that they love to use Roman characters. In fact, the name creation screen for the characters allows for 3 different text types: Hiragana, Katakana, and the Roman Alphabet.

Because its symmetrical. There are five letters on both the left and the right of the B.

Actually, the B is the sixth letter of the ten in the title, so it's not quite as symmetrical as you thought. Earth is 5 letters, and after the B, bound if four letters.

After having read a bit more about EarthBound oddities and facts on the internet, I found that a lot of the Beatles is actually incorporated into EB! For example, one of the default name sets in the Japanese version of EB were the names of the Beatles. Very interesting. :)

To DaVince21: I reckon it's because Shigesato Itoi was inspired by a Beatles song aptly named "Mother" to create the MOTHER series. Since then he's incorporated a similar style when hiring people for the music.

I highly doubt it. NoA ignores the fans and pretends the game doesn't exist. They would never recognize that it has a Japanese name. No, I'm sure it would just be EarthBound 2.

But it doesn't make a bit of difference, the balls are inert. That is to say, Nintendo of America sucks and will probably never translate the game or ever recognize the cries of the English-speaking fanbase.
