@Easleytee ..Bobby is a great drummer no doubt......to say he's "so far superior" is just silly....Bobby doesnt have Mike's speed, independence or double bass skills....cause you personally like a drummer over another drummer doesnt make the less liked drummer less of a drummer....and just cause your pointing out what you like better in a drummer over another...doesnt make it factual..which is how most people judge drummers. Bobby's great.....but not on Mangini's level....very few are!

Listen to the progressive instrumental music Petrucci does with the keyboardplayer, that is musically the most complex I have heard, bordering on free-form Jazz, but orchestrated. I rather think Portnoy has held them back, with Jarzombek they could go oh so far with their music...

@nengstro true quite a valid point i kno petrucci is a monster an as far as mastering there instruments go i feel apart from james labrie (hate him sounds like a whining baby) portnoy was by far the weakest link in the band! they could probably take it alot further with this guy!

I'm not a fan of Dream Theater but if they want to get a drummer i would suggest Aquiles Priester. That guy is literally an octopus...

I will agree with all of you and say that this guy is a machine, but is he truly ready for the spotlight.......?????
At this point it's not about if he's better than Portnoy or anybody else, I'm sure he's ready for the work load but it's a big step for him and Portnoy still has big shoes....

@rohanpogi hes the best in my opinion, at this. im not one of those guys who says hes king, cause i love all differant dudes, jordan, weckl, grohl, menza. but i agree, bobby is at the top of the "metal super drummers" list. i can't believe hes not playing in a bigger band. maybe a7x will look at him. does anyone know, is bobby left
