Greenham had such a long and sometimes controversial history especially during Maggie's time as PM.

I grew up in Newbury, as a kid I waved to many a B-47 pilot taxiing in after a sortie. I remember the sky being very black after the '58 accident and also remember the arrival of a B-58 in '63. Never got to see a tattoo as my family moved away in '65.

Sad to see this landmark slowly disappear.

Poor old Greenham Common. There's not really much left of the runways & taxyways now, its all been dug up. There are still a few buildings there though, including the GLCM site & silos , which I think is listed under the IMF treaty.

Wow a fantastic bout of nostalgia! I went there a few times but not lately. I was there the day the SR71 arrived... argh I wish I had a camcorder back then.
