The fundamental problem isn't solutions per se but what motivated the economic system to become this way. It wasn't accidental. This is the result of specific policies which have been a part of a class war that has been going on for a long time. I gained some insight about this when I saw psychological research showing that liberals tend to be bothered by & conservatives tend not to be bothered by social inequality. To the conservative mindset, there is no problem & so no solution is needed.
This just goes to show how stupid America has become. The filthy rich are doing better and the masses suffer. So America gets a tea party that gives power to those that protect the rich. It's over, what they did in Chile will look like a cup scout overnighter. The American people will pay for being stupid, it has a price, the rich will set that price.
