i found a really easy way to cut my little guy's nails. I just put a dab of peanut butter on my wrist and set him on my lap. He gets distracted and licks the heck out of my wrist leaving me free to clip away.

This is where I always disagree. It does NOT take two people. Fold large towel half lengthwise. Roll ends together. Turn over and form a "V". Place ferret on back in "V" and quickly put FerreTone on belly and chest. Ferret will be totally oblivious to nail clipping (or anything else) as long as they have FerreTone to lick.

An animal adoption place taught me if you just put a couple of drops of ( 8 in 1 FerreTone Skin & Coat Food Supplement) on your ferret stomach they lick at it long enough for you to get all there nails done without any help or needing to scruff them. They love the taste of the stuff and its good for them

it depends on your ferret's cage. if the cage has large doors or many doors, as long as you can reach any where in the cage. or if the ferret is litter trained it isn't hard at all.

@DanielleSarah7 generally no...just make sure you take out any toys and give them a wash, any "furniture" also you want to wash at least monthly...of course scoop the litter boxes daily. Spend 5-10 minutes a day and you'll have a happy ferret... :-)

Not difficult at all it is very fun and not too expensive. they run about 100 dollars if you buy one form a pet store but i got mine off of craigslist (dot) com 3 ferrets and a cage for 501 bucks and mine are doing perfectly well. ferret food is cheap and so is bedding.

Thanks for that info about scruffing them, I plan to get one in a week or two cos my roommate had one but gave her away cos she moved...but she would blindly cut her nails at first then she just let the nails go, and that just didnt seem right to the poor little critter.

Erm you dont have to clip the nails if he roams free in the house cuz the materials like carpets or wood help keep the nails trim
