  • buaaaaaaaaaajajajajajajajjajajajajajajajajajajajaj

  • I was there. It is a pity the cameras strategically only show the few hundred important people and doesn't make even a single pan around for the entire ceremony to see the thousands of Kiwi expat 'commoners' who went to the dedication. We are standing just out of shot behind the tree.

  • Hayley is fantastic!

  • Deutschland hätte den Krieg gewinnen sollen

  • Ihr fotzen wir ficken die Qen . Deutschland über alles

  • @Antimoslima

  • @Panzergredi Ja leider ist was wares dran.............

  • @Antimoslima

  • @Antimoslima

Jedes davon zeichnet sich durch eigene Traditionen, religiöse Anschauungen und auch der Sprache, heute nur abwertend "Dialekt" genannt aus.

  • my cousin is in the maori group

  • @ickerboker. Fuck you ya ignorant duch basterd

  • WOW SHE IS AMAZING

  • I love New Zealand!!

  • haha, der haka ist einfach zu geil :)

    i loooove nz...

  • I'm a Hong Kong people who seldom listen to the National Anthem of New Zealand. Thanks Hayley for bringing this awesome song to me!

  • i love nzers they are a proud people like us scots

  • @65ninjabill

Damn tooting we are. Many of us have a wee bit of Tartan blood and damn proud of it

My ancestoral link is from the Cameron Highlanders

  • that day the queen was known in London as the Queen Of New Zealand..!!

  • The days are coming where all nz will be singing the anthem in all the stadiums and with gusto, for all will turn to the God of heaven and earth. Psalms 22.27 says all the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord

  • I'm surprised Prince Philip didn't say something inappropriate as he always does. lol. This was a haka performed with mana.

  • I have seen quite a few Hakas, but this is the first time I've seen one with people in uniform participating. Compared to the stuck up and dead way many "western" military personal stand during ceremonies, this seems so much more lively and full of power.

If I had to go to war, I'd totally want those guys behind (or better in front of) me.

  • ¿Alguien puede explicarme qué pasa al final con todos esos hombres disfrazados? Disculpen mi ignorancia de dicha cultura.

  • @celofan97 That's a peruperu, a war haka, a traditional dance of the Maori. Intended to frighten the enemies. Today NZ forces use it as a sign for the multicultural background. So you see "Europeans" performing it together with native Maori.

Not every haka (maori dance) is associated with war. Haka constitute an integral part of formal ceremonies for distinguished visitors or foreign dignitaries, serving to impart a sense of the importance of the occasion.

  • @crematio Thank you so much!!!

  • @crematio That's so cool. It was actually my favorite part of the video. haha. The Maori have such an interesting culture!

  • Were is this? New Zeeland?

  • @artistdeterminedmsv The New Zealand memorial (where this video of the dedication was shot) is at Hyde Park corner in London.

  • Dance Haka to the Queen?!

  • On the ANZAC day?

  • Heil dir im Siegerkranz..... ingnorant British ....

  • I dont like it when Kiwsi have to sing the english anthem just because the queen is there

  • @janson84 It's not just the English anthem, it is the official national anthem of New Zealand on equal standing to our other one, it would have been sung there without the Queen's prescence.

  • @iamthisguy007 god defend NZ is the national anthem of NZ on its own right. Thats why we have our own national anthem.

  • @janson84

God Save the Queen officially has equal standing with God Defend NZ actually.

  • @iamthisguy007

    num nuts

  • very good video, interesting :) thx

  • NZ is not a STATE, it's a Country!!

God Save THE QUEEN..NZ has it's own hierachy and Monarchy...haha

  • She could go home and be the Kiwi forces Sweetheart and then we could have our British sweetheart back .That is the one the British forces prefer ,our own British Katherine Jenkins .Then Hayleys team would have to take somebody elses job for Hayley

  • God Save the queen

  • Can some one translate the last part of this clip when the men expressed themselves in their national touge?

  • Hayley is a beautiful person...with an exquisite voice

  • Haley says God save the queen not God save our queen. Dont know anything about NZ but in Canada we say God save our Queen. wrong imo

  • @c00per69

It's God Save Our Gracious Queen at the start, the it goes to God Save the Queen. So depending on where Canadians sing God Save our Queen it could be wrong out right aha, but in New Zealand God Save the Queen is also the national anthem (but not sung often)

  • @JepJep92 its the royal anthem in canada

  • yes that include the chinese nationalist troops.i read history and knew about one battle fought against the japanese which the nationalist chinese won over the japanese and saved thousand of british soldiers with high ranking officials in Burma. This was recorded in history and not makeup by me.

  • wow.. never seen a maori celebration before.. very impressive!

  • For those who say that the Queen did not express any emotion during the anthem - I think you need to look at her eyes, there was emotion there. New Zealanders stand proud because our people went off to war to defend freedom and peace. We have tried hard to right the wrongs of colonialism and work hard in the world to resolve conflict. We stood strong against nuclear testing in the Pacific. The older I get the more it means to me to hold on to tradition. That includes the queen & our pride.

  • NZ tribal soldiers behave a bit funny...

  • @chrustt . Tottally different culture. I wonder how the Apaches or Comanches or the Texans would react to them in person?. Different ways for different folk. Great clip here. Hayley sings great.

  • progress. There would be no contest. The Maoris are much tougher than either the Apaches or Comanches. They were easily defeated in the US by the cavalry.

  • Are you sure? There were many Indian tribes in North America and outside of the Iroquior or the Mowhawk whos fighting was legendary, and of course the Comanche of Texas, well there were never a lot of Apache but they were one hell of a tough nut. The US Army found them a superb opponent. Between the Comanche and the Apache, the Mexicans lived in fear. Spikes the deadliest warrior matched the Apache against other warriors and they did well. Personally I would take the Spartans for toughess,

  • The other tribes called the Apaches, the enemy. See John Wayne the Searchers. Read, George Macdonal Frasier Book on Flashman in the West.

Somewhere in Time Apache Warriors still ride the Journda del Muerta as they head to the rancheros around Sante Fe in 1750.For toughness I would take the Scots Irish or the Welsh. British Major Ferguson sent a message to them once , Stay away or I will kill you all. At Kings Mountain

Scots Irish Rebels killed him and his mixed loyalist & British force!

  • progressive. Toughest troops ever? Have a look at the film "Sands of Iwo Jima" also staring John Wayne. It shows the capture of Mount Suribachi and the raising of the battle standard atop the mountain. This would have to be the bravest act ever, wouldn't it?

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger , The wages of courage is death. There's a true story, at Tarawa where marine took out a machine gun that was killing and wounding many, he died. They never learned his name. Courage and dedication and self sacrifice in the face of death is true bravery. Marines brag too much. My people served America 150 before the Marines were born. My great grandfather, the Judge, told his grandson, that on his 21st birthday in battle with Parsons Brigade, he had not eaten in 3 days.

  • progressiverebel. I have always wondered what the Marines thought of the Japanese soldiers they were facing. The media at the time depicted them as being cowards.

  • @progressiverebel Hi. I reread what you said. It is probably true. People were probably tougher as you "150 years before the Marines were born". I cannot imagine going into battle not having eaten for three days. I remember once when I was in the army, that the evening meal, delivered by helicopter, was half an hour later. Some of of the guys were beside themselves, really cracking up. Pathetic really. The guys of 150 years ago would have a good laugh about that!

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger , One more thing, a Marine Lt friend of my said once, that its still a given in the Marine Corp that the spirit of the Rebel Infantry lives in Marines. Many many Southern boys are Marines. John Thomason who wrote, the immortal Fix Bayonets, and was Officer Commander Marine Horse Guards At Peiking dedicated his book to his father. Confederate States Army, He also wrote a wonderful Biography of Jeb Stuart.

Lots of candidates, who dares dies.

  • Gotta love the NZ national anthem.Makes me feel proud for the NZ's.

  • Australia could learn alot from this.Good on New Zealand for respecting & embracing the Maori culture. They are much richer for it.

  • Didn't the Australian govt give an official apology to the Aboriginal people? Please don't bite my head off, I'm just curious :)

  • Naaah. no biting heads off.lol.Yep, an apology to the Stolen Generation. Not really about annexation.Nothings come from it tho.Just rhetoric.Nothing of substance even for the SG.

  • Anyone can say sorry but your actions is what will determine whether your sincere.

  • No sincerity yet that we can see. Thanks for asking anyway. You have a healthy curiosity :)

  • I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, "white man" will one day stop assuming that they are in some way superior to other races! Sadly, that attitude still exists and yes, I'm white! I would love to meet Aboriginal people one day!

  • Opps sorry. I meant eliminate. Decimate is literally to kill one in ten or figuratively to soundly defeat in battle. Brain fart. Anyway I have been on OZ on ANZAC day. Sad but there is no glory in slaughter I think.

  • ka pai

  • Wonderful stuff. Visited war graves in Malaysia last year and cried for both out own UK victims of the notorious death marches and the ANZACs. Bless all our fallen heroes and those still fighting to keep our world under some kind of control from present day threats. x

  • God bless them. Our NZ brothers.

  • and so much brothers¡¡¡¡¡¡ think new zealand was like australia ( that it resembles more to USA , and i was very surprised when i saw that new zealand is sooooooooooo similar to UK , the weather , the cities......... :)

  • I am so proud to be a kiwi! and watching this vid also reminds me that although we may seem small to the rest of the world, I am proud to belong to a nation that is proud of its culture!

  • I agree Hayley is gorgeous! I could listen to her sing all day.

    Sgtcrab 1 get a life.....dreamer....

  • Yes indeed it is a dream. A dream of peace and a better world. Not my nightmare from 65-68 in my military service. PAX

  • Good God, Hayley is gorgeous!

  • Very impressive! the last part I mean, is it a war chant or something?

  • in the last part they dance the haka which is a maori dance (maori are the original NZ's ihabitants) generally it's considered as a war dance

  • Good job New Zealand. NZ has an outstanding military history. It is such a shame the labour party has committed itself to decimating the New Zealand forces.

  • sgtcrab1. Well said. It would be nice to just keep the military just for show. The troops could get dressed up and parade occasionally, learn something useful in school, go overseas, eat nice food, and maybe help little old ladies home with the shopping. As for actually killing someone else - well, thats just not nice. Take care. :)

  • So you are proud of Imperialism? That the UK has destroyed and brought chaos to so many countries? Among them Burma, Zimbabwe and Israel/Palestine? And many others!

  • I wish the UK had some sort of tribal thing. They're very interesting (and entertaining - not gunna lie).

I just think it's very unique and really shows a unique part of their culture.

  • We do have. We are caled Welsh. Scottish, English and Ulstermen/women.

  • I bet you wouldn't have the balls to make thoes comments face to face with one of thoes so called "Niggers". You big internet tough guy.

  • Maori are not African, if anything they originate from Polynesia and then Asia. Anyway, racism is to expected to appear in every video that relates to a country, there is a racist to hate every country...annoyingly enough.

  • 02:55 Ahhh nice to see the StG 77 my Army Rifle !

PS: Great Britain is to liberal today ! The Liberals toke out the "Great" of Britain !

  • awesome!! proud kiwi

  • beautiful song sung by a beautiful young lady

  • Has the queen ever smiled in her life?

  • The queen has a lovely smile and smiles often.

But this event was a dedication for a war memorial for goodness sake - what do you expect her to do? Smile and wave to the crowds?

  • Oh stop...if she were smiling all the time people would say she's faking it. She's not a movie star, she's the Head of State. She behaves in a dignified manner and that is appropriate. Especially at the dedication of a war memorial. Think.

  • What a ridiculous comment to make. Yes she should have danced her way through the anthem as well.

  • The Queen represents the head of 1/3 of the worlds most civilised people and many millions of departed who died to preserve freedom all over the world.

As someone with that HUGE responsibility she is hardly crass enough to be smiling like a fool and laughing like an idiot - is she?

In some parts of this world she represents people who consider it rude to show emotion, you see its not all about just what you think.

Its a New Zealand Memorial Just the job for smiles and laughter.

  • that was fucking awesome!!! cheers 4 posting mate

  • Hayley went to my school. :)

  • i wish i spoke what they were speaking. it's so interesting.

  • do you mean maori cause you may want to learn what the language is before you learn it

  • To all the ANZAC diggers: Lest we forget.

You made this world a litte bit better.

  • The Australian memorial is on the other side of the grass there, behind the camera.

  • Allies, thank you for liberating Germany from the National Socialists. Europe would look different today without the sacrifice of your men.

    And Hayley: Absolutely adorable performance!

    5 Stars

  • God bless him and all the peace loving German people. The war is long over.

  • It is also known as The Kaiser Hymn.

  • Oh my god, I knew the name of the UK national anthem, but I never heard it performed. I had no idea it had that tune. (My Country tis...)

  • it is we Americans that changed the lyrics but kept the tune :)

  • If it were not for the Brits, much of Europe would now be speaking mongrel German. God Bless Britain.

  • noooooooooooooo

  • Ja mein herr. Remember the 6th June 1944, mein Teutonic friend. The free world stood against your evil ancestors. The men who died on those beaches were the soldiers of democracy and are the ones we owe our freedom to. And yours, too. We'll never forget them, Schultz.

  • listen, most german people did not want to fight for what was wrong, like my great grandad who died on the russian front, he did not want to fight

  • Go shopping and get yourself a brain.

  • As a American, watching this dedication I want to say thank you to our allies who served alongside us during WWII. God save the Queen. God bless America.

  • mystery. You said "As a American, watching this dedication I want to say thank you to our allies who served alongside us during WWII.". Does this include the Italians, the Chinese and the Soviets?

  • thats actually a good question. NZ gives no recognition to the USSR for their massive war efort, NZ state is a bloody hypocrite

  • TheNationalistParty. Yes. I agree with you. New Zealand has done some shameful things. Not recognising the USSR is one of them. My father was badly wounded in WW2. He said that the Japanese soliders mass murdered by New Zealanders at Featherston, New Zealand was an attrocity. He told me that this deed was to New Zealand's everlasting shame. I think my dad was right.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger -that's a powerful statement you made. All Honour to your father.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger I lived next to Featherston and know about the Japanese war camps.....I find it hard to believe that there were mass murders going on there. My aunty always talks of attending dances at the camps with the Japanese...not the officers. I grew up in school there and visited the site for history classes and dont believe we were shown gravesites, Since the school loved to speak of the wars and deaths of the thousands of maori...I doubt they would of glossed over the Japanese!

  • @jellybee68 Here is the reference which describes the massacre. For whatever reason, it was clear that unarmed prisoners were shot. As a New Zealander, I would say it was a war crime. nzhistory. net. nz /49-killed-during-riot-at-featherston-pow-camp

  • As a canadian watching this I could not be more proud of the Last Post and God save the queen

  • cuz it doesnt make a difference. It it now entirely for tradition and good relations with the UK. We have the same setup up here in canada.

  • Miller6604 seems forget the ability to post immature comments - came at a very heavy price: i.e. countless people gave their lives - to protect our respective countries and the freedom that we enjoy on both sides of the Atlantic and Pacific.

As IntrapersonalKent so aptly said: "Truly, honor, valliance and bravery prevail amidst the bleakest of darkness. "

  • Truly, honor, valliance and bravery prevail amidst the bleakest of darkness.

  • I visited the NZ Memorial just after it was unveiled, a very moving experience, another reason to make me proud to be a Kiwi. Thank you to those that fought defending us, to you we owe a great debt and we honour you.

  • Very nice moments !

  • Abrogate Waitangi Treaty!

    One Law for All!

  • That's already been tried, didn't work!

God Defend New Zealand!....please cause we don't have REAL armed forces anymore

  • are you serious, do you think Willy Apiata was awarded the Victoria Cross for sitting on his ass watching Shortland Street?

If you've got no faith in NZ's forces then move to Australia

  • I live in Australia, as for Willy Apiata, deserves the VC, but understandably NZ doesn't have any armed forces ready to defend it, hence I live and work for the RAAF in Darwin, where work actually gets done!

GOD Defend NZ! Cause Australia is doing it's bit to Defend the World!

  • Look buddy, you're entitled to your opinion...but don't go showing your ignorance for all to see.

Understandably you're proud of Australia, fair enough at that...but don't you EVER slam NZ. We're out there doing the yards just the same as you Aussies, and the NZ in ANZAC stands for NEW ZEALAND, something you Aussies seem to forget at times.

A New Zealand Serviceman (17 years and counting beneath the flag...)

  • Mate I am with you. I served in the RNZN years ago. I am now in the US Army.

  • I just returned to hear this all again and got the "it's remoned" stuff. WHY? Everything about it was good! (except for some of the comments) I hope it is returned - and soon.

  • so proud to be a kiwi most young people dont realise how much their ancestors gave up for them

  • I don't think Helen Clarke was singing.... very disappointing

  • I don't think she is Prime Minister anymore either.

  • What a pigface.

  • the queen wasnt singing her national anthem either though.

  • she´s not allowed to sing a dedication to her... it´s a fact, I think it´s something she doesn´t like but that´s never been official stated.

  • the last dambusters raid airman still alive is newzealander Les Munroe

  • Wonderful..

  • God Save Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of All of Britain and New Zealand.

  • Forty-two percent of men of military age served in the NZEF. 16,697 New Zealanders were killed and 41,317 were wounded during the war - a 58 percent casualty rate. Approximately a further thousand men died within five years of the war's end, as a result of injuries sustained, and 507 died whilst training in New Zealand between 1914 and 1918. New Zealand had the highest casualty and death rate per capita of any country involved in the war.

  • hey look everybody! Its helen clark!

  • Chel nak! Nice voice.

  • Hayley is so wonderful! This performance gives me goosebumps.

  • bunch of bloody savages, rock on!

  • The patch of land in Hyde Park donated by England for a New Zealand War Memorial represents to me acknowledgement of our loss supporting Britain during both World Wars. I'm very grateful for that.

The Memorial Dedication was very moving.

  • being a kiwi rocks

  • Im a serving army soldier and its great to see our sacrifice being recognised by hte Queen. Hayley Westenra is the best choice for this as she has an amazing voice and has great poise. Kia Kaha to everyone of Ngati Tumatauenga.

    A McMaster 3ANR

  • So nice the song and the voice!

  • total goosebumpss

  • I AM SO PROUD TO BE A KIWI!!!!!!!!

  • So am i :)

  • makes me proud to be who i am

God save our Queen and all the land in which she rules.

  • Kiwi pride - we are tough mothers - in battle or on the rugby field - stand proud of our country - our multi-cultural heritage, the envy of many. I am Maori/Scottish/English ancestry. Ake Ake Kia Kaha Aotearoa!

  • God Save New Zealand

  • Hayley Westenra is one classy lady :)

  • are there many people speaking maori or is it an antique and dead language???

  • maori is certainly not dead. it is an official language of nz with english. altho not widely spoken it is in common use in place names and many organisations have alternative maori names.

  • May God defend your magnificent land of New Zealand. Greetings from a brother of the Commonweath.

  • One of the best things to come out of NZ is their national anthem & yeah what do you expect the Queen to do during a national anthem a bloody handstand and a jig? Seriously what does anybody do during a national anthem? Thats right, stand their and soak it in

  • How long have you guys been alive? You should know already that the Queen is not suppose to show any emotion in public.

  • Totally agree, the Queen does not show any emotion during anthems, it's just the done thing, not any disrespect at all... Queen Elizabeth the 2nd has been on the throne over 60 years and heard many anthems, giver her a break chaps... please...

    God Bless You Maam...
