like i've said before, this version is not going to be faithful to the original novel, but the visuals (and in 3-D, no less) look interesting. I think the worst film version of the classic novel by Monsieur Dumas was the film that came out in the 1970's with Michael York, and the even worse sequel released a decade later. the 1921 version starring Douglas Fairbanks is good, notable for Mr. Fairbanks' performing his own stunts and the 1993 Disney version which was for kids, hence it was a comedy.

Two films that should have been awesome entertainments, but the trailers were enough to let you know someone had no clue how to handle the material. The movies ended up sucking worse than the trailers. The 3 Musketeers doesn't look terrible, it just looks stupid. Now the film "The Musketeer" was just as bad, but at least they didn't appropriate the title of the book.

The actors were so pissed off that most film contracts now have a Salkind (after the producer) clause to prevent this from happening again. The Return of the Musketeers is a sequel based on the Dumas novel Twenty Years After.
