  • was the name of the soundtrack

  • As for height calls the camera angle is pointing down look at the line of the it slopes up in relation to the bottom of the screen so at parallel in squat the leg will slope up relative to the ground.. and it is so boring getting people calling every squat video high (unless the camera is side on inline with the knees

  • Anybody know the weights being lifted at this meet?

  • why hasent he done WSM yet?!?! i know he is true to the powrlifting game but he would do so well!

  • I have a question about these very wide stance squats I see these days. If the lifters were to try this without the base of the rack bracing the sides of their feet, would their feet just slide out sideways from under them? Is there a lot of side pressure between their feet and the base?

  • lol, thats a very good question, ive been doing powerlifting for 4 years now and my coach and training partners have never used or talked about using that 'rack touching" stance, idk ill give it a shot the next time i do a full effort squat day and get back to u.

  • no rompes un culo

  • Sorry..but all those squats were VERY high....not even close. If they let that pass just because of who he is then there is no integrity in any of it.

  • the third squat was just deep enough, and thats the one that counts.

  • i agree with the people saying its a high squat, but only because i liek to squat so the top of my thigh and knee make a 90 degree angle. in powerlifting they count a full squat as when the shin and thigh bone make a 90 degree angle, so dont say its a half squat, cause in powerlifting it is a full squat. and its incredible

  • High squat i don't care what anyone thinks check out fred hatfields depth, thats a squat and don't give me that crap about they only go as far as they have to high is high is high.andys a madman no doubt yes he's the king but he's also squatting high i can squat about 730 but at his hieght i'd do 850 out

  • If you weigh 200lbs and you can squat 500lbs you're only pushing 700lbs into the air, if you weigh 300lbs and can squat 500lbs you're pushing 800lbs into the air and yet somehow people respect the former more than the latter.

  • By that logic It'd be more impressive if I squatted 200kg at 200lbs as opposed to if my 4 year old cousin squatted 200kg at 50lbs because my total weight plus the bars total weight would be more than my cousins.

It goes by power to weight ratio, not by maximum weight lifted. If a guy is 300lbs and only pushing the same at a 200lb guy, that's pretty pathetic really. The 300lb guys muscle would be pretty low quality muscle.

  • No, well it depends on the 200lbs guy. If you can squat 600lbs at any weight that's a very respectable lift, and what about those 200lb guys who can do 800lbs+, if you're 300lbs and you do 770lbs (350kg) is that supposed to be a shit lift because someone 100lbs lighter than you can do more?

  • In comparison to the lighter guy it wouldn't be as good yea.

So are you trying to say that you wouldn't be impressed by a 100lb woman who could lift the same as you could? Or have I got you wrong?

  • I would be impressed by it but not a ratio of 2:1. Okay so I weigh x and you weigh 2x it doesn't mean your lifts are twice as good as mine if we have the same weight on the bar.

Pulling, or pushing, the most weight is the most important part, everything else, body weight, gender, injuries etc is ancillary to the lift, the lift IS the bottom line in my opinion.

  • Pulling or pushing the largest weight possible is NOT the most important thing in powerlifting.

Pulling or pushing the most weight in comparison to your bodyweight IS the most important thing in powerlifting.

If you're just going for the biggest lift that you can personally achieve regardless of any factor, then pushing the most weight IS the most important thing. That would be more akin to strongman training as opposed to powerlifting. Then the circumstances are totally different.

  • what a load of bull druggie half squat

  • i know him :)

  • Man is strong as an elephant, but Wpc squats are just as far from original squats as one can get.

  • watch hossein rezazadeh videos at olympics

    thats real strength

  • IPF lifters use 1/3 of andy's squat !!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • That's because they actually bend their knees and hips beyond a ½ inch.

  • It's simple; Rezazadeh has more explosive power. Andy has more raw strength. Rezazadeh couldn't deadlift 1000 lbs, and Bolton certainly couldn't c&j anywhere near 580 lbs.

WPO squats are BS though; unlike IPF and Oly lifting, they're nowhere near breaking parallel, and they don't even have to walk the bar back off an actual stand/rack; and don't give me the "you try stepping backward with that amount of weight" crap - a few guys have done it in the past.

It's only about the numbers now.

  • I look at it this way. There are around 2 dozen feds to compete in these days. So, compete under the rules you want to and everybody else will compete under the rules they want to. Powerlifting, to me, is about setting PR's under the same conditions each time you lift. For instance, if you squat 350 1" above parallel and then a month later, you squat 375 1" above parallel, you have gotten stronger. Powerlifting is simply all about that, POWER.

  • THIS is squat? Funny, in IPF we call it 1/3 squat...

  • Well, what makes it funny is the fact that it's true!

  • what did he total in that meet

  • KAZ WAS STRONGER

  • IM NOT A POWERLIFTING FAN REALLY, assisted defo no ! but at least the rules were strict, andy did 500, 285, 295 missed and correctly done ! and also 415 kg deadlift !

  • Most powerful man alive.....

  • take a look at rezazadeh and than you will say "rezazadeh is the most powerful man alive"

  • I disagree, Rezazadeh is damn Powerful, but he is no Andy Bolton. I would bet that he couldn't roll 455kg along the floor. Let alone lift it... but I'm not knocking him, he just can't match Bolton... Along with the rest of us...

  • Yep, i gotta agree with u woolfman, Andy holds the deadlift, squat and total world records for a good reason rezag!

  • rezazadeh is as good a andy. but andy uses extremely heavy duty gear when he lifts, reza lifts raw and deep. those squats were not even half squats. im sorry, but i consider reza a better strength athlete

  • did he get last bench? i wouldnt of allowed that, and 500 kilo squat, soo just there, possibly!

  • They screwed Donnie Thompson. He squatted just as low if not lower than Bolton.

  • In opinion Thomspon attempted too much, he shouldve tried to gain back weight in the bench, Bolton's weakest lift. He didn't even squat 485, he shouldnt have attempted 530.

  • Bahahahahahaha, funniest thing i've heard all day!

  • 500 sqt, maybe, very very very shallow, strictly a no lift, but still, amazing weight !

  • almost, first squat, 2nd even closer :L, 3rd very lucky to get that tbh, 1st/2nd bench were great, great 370 deadlift, 415 was good, 455,5 lol haha god so there, bita grip practice maybe !

  • Andy won his weight class but Delroy McQueen won the overall best lifter...

  • who won the overall

  • great

  • squats were pretty high bench he blew that shit up. thats the same spot he dropped that last deadlift record

  • Do you know how much weight he lifted there?
