@saulisbomb By this point in the show they'd long since embraced the Brony culture, it's half the reason its become so popular because instead of ignoring or rejecting the older audience (say like Spongebob did) they instead actively catered to them. If you watch the first ten episodes they had moments of funny but were largely of a younger persuasion. Around ten and up they started putting in older jokes, by the end whole episodes ("A Party of One" for example) seemed to be shout outs.
