DS9 is b y f a r b e t t e r than BSG. In fact, DS9 is the best Star Trek series ever because of its outrageous actors ( Odo, Garak, Quark, O'Brien, Dukat) and sometimes gloomy, dark vibrancy. BSG is technically perfect in every aspect and Olmos is great, too, but I miss charism, heart, humor and romance.

I'd consider changing it to Bajor. There's a lot of suggestion, especially in the last few seasons, that even people like Sisko himself are beginning to consider not just Deep Space Nine but Bajor to be their home. Otherwise, spot-on. I've seen a lot of these crossover openings but this one is easily my favorite. Easily.

Wow you almost matched the BSG opening shot for shot. The scene where Sisko braces himself after the Defiant is hit and the runabout shoots through the corridor is almost identical to the shot of Adama bracing himself and the Vipers being launched. That's just amazing

@everlastt It's called the Gayatri Mantra, it's a very very old Hindu prayer written in a dead version of Sanskrit called Vedic-Metre. Some scholars say it could be as much as 6000 years old, though the first noted mentions are about 4000 years ago. I think it was Eddie Olmos who suggested that they use it and it was basically the last music Richard Gibbs wrote for the show before Bear took over. In the UK this was the theme from series 1, not 2 as in the US, so really it is the original.

both BSG and DS9 shares a lot of creative talents. Besides one being more formulaic, and the other is more open for anything to happen, the two shows are very similar and explores a lot of the same topics.

Especially when it comes to religion, terrorism, racism, population displacement, social class discrimination and other wonderful topics.

So I have trouble understanding why fan of one show can have so much hate for another. The only difference is DS9 the darkest trek is still happier.
