  • lol.. ok how much did this vette cost? you can put less then 10 thousand into a 20 thousand dollar supra and make just as much if not more power :P not bashing vettes. they are ok, but i happen to like imports better. as i watch my friends WRX (not an sti) walk mustang/corvettes/slowmaros nearly every day. and he hasnt put muc into the car at all.

  • @kennycoil and your an idiot for not searching the internet. ive seen both mark 3, and mk4 supras for anywhere from 6 thousand up, granted they may be automatic and non-turbo. not only that ive owned one that was a 5 speed and turbocharged that i only paid 2 grand for. had a little over 320hp. not much to brag about but lets see you find a running corvette in decent shape for 2 grand.

  • to put this all to rest. the corvette can out drag a turbo viper, out handle a skyline/porche/s2000, higher top speed and acceleration G's than a supra, can out brake a veyron, and can do all this in ONE car. if you had a ViPorLineRonUpra2000 you could do it. but they don't now, never have, and never will make such a car. the other supers are single use. While lingenfelter and all corvette mods are the complete package. you can stop from 70 in 92 feet which matches the best out there porche GT3R

  • Does anyone know what a 2006 Vette (LS2) actually puts out via horsepower? My 2006 Vette is supposebly rated at 400hp and I'm told by a friend it's higher than that but GM can't list the true specs (it feels slow to me) but I'm accustomed to riding sportbikes and anything with four wheels feels slow to me. I would like to increase the horsepower but must be economical about it (i.e. chip, programming etc) no super, turbo charging, etc....

  • It's all about how fast it tachs up, torque is more important then horsepower.

    Having 100 horsepower won't give you acceleratioon, torque will.

    That thing torqued up pretty damn quick, and hard.

    If you were driving that on the street and you had that much torque, you probably wouldn't be able to handle it.

    Yes and no, gearing is more important. F1 cars have 800+ hp but under 200lb/ft of torque. Yet they scream around. Torque = long gears, power + tons of short gears.

  • This vette and others with more power run 215mph to 230mph in the mile at most, the Veyron runs in that same area, you need a Supra, TTgallardo or TTGT to go faster than that, which they do by 15+mph.

  • @Lolicorez Try port and polishing, boring the block, shaving the heads, grinding a little bit on the camshaft, and stroking the crank and you'd be suprised. Before you go to a turbo or Supercharger just try that. What ever you drive may it be honda toyota mitsubishi or whatever. Try that and then come back and compare the displacement ratio.

    F20/22C 325 lbs 250hp .77 hp/lb

    LS3 460 lbs 430hp .93 hp/lb

    Even though the little 4 banger has 32% of the displacement of the LS3, it has 70% of the weight. The question is, why have a heavy, low CID 4 cylinder when you can have a light, high cube v8 that makes more than 2x the torque.

Comparing this vette to an evo/sti is comparing apples to oranges, RALLY cars with awd that grip in mud and snow versus this monster doesn't make any sense. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Lingenfelter vettes and domestic muscle, but as a Mitsubishi owner, I've seen plenty of Evo's and Sti's that can make BIG horsepower....think that vette can catch up when the turns get sharp and the road gets rough ?

The 2008/9 Dodge Viper ACR TOPPED the ZR1's lap time on the Nurburgring (where the two cars have been the hot topic of the season), and with the margin it beat it by, it's undoubtedly beating it everywhere else, too. Both are phenomenal cars, but honestly, you should know when to give up and/or do a bit of research.

  • The fascia is the same, the front spoiler is also on the car from the showroom floor. All ACRs are street legal unless you make them NOT street legal. There was nothing on that stock, factory ACR that made those lap times that makes it not street legal or isn't there stock. I would like to see your sources.

    Also, if you did any research on the car, you would realize that they ALL have that from spoiler on the bottom of the fascia and the fins or splitters on the sides.

  • Actually if you did read the article on the Viper beating the Corvette, the Viper was driven by a professional driver and had it's suspension tuned after each lap to adapt to the conditions and turns. The Corvette was bone stock with an engineer driving and never did any modifying. I don't know why Corvette hasn't been back to settle this issue.
