I would like to buy one if you have a alpha male pup tell me how much to buy and ship to america. I really want one. I am 100 % slavic from polska so it to me is bog.
@nikigurl08@nikigurl08 He usually howls and rarely barks, but even howling is rare.He is a quiet, peaceful animal, but in the wild, in nature he feels at home.He likes snow, water, running and jumping, he is very active in nature. This is why is preferable to have a large yard for this dog.Otherwise, if you stay in an apartment for example, you need to take him out at least 45minutes daily. How much wolf?Around 30%.Cheers!
What a beautiful breed! Thank you for the posting.
How do they compare with the German Shepherd in terms of eagerness to learn and carry out tasks, and ability to concentrate, please? I notice their back legs are longer and more natural looking. How common is the problem of hip joints?
@bluespangle1 Wolfdog was developed for frontier guard purpose. Hence he's almost tireless (his daily activity estimates up to 75 miles by fast walk, or trot). He is not recommended if you have a flat, since it is hyperactive and somewhat wild breed. Do NOT purchase it, if you have other small animals at home (Rabbits, chicken, guinea-pig, and so..) since it is very likely, that it will just kill them in moments of its boredness. Wolfdog does not have problems with hip joint as Shepherds do.
@DireEagle : Thank you for the information. As I live in Tokyo, and as my garden is tiny, I realise that a wolfdog is not within my reach. Your expression "frontier guard purpose" explains enough. Thanks again.
@kenzman9076. Cool vid. Me as Dutchman am very proud of our Saarlooswolfhonden, but like this breed a lot too. ;) in fact there apparently is a breeder of them in my village. But what I would really like to know is; who sings the song in this clip? What's the ban/groups name? Cheers, Jeff.
I want to get this dog when I get older, but it worries me: If it gets out, someone will most likely shoot it. They look SO much like wolves, that if I saw it i would assume it a wolf. I even have a neighbor that says he has his gun ready at all times for coyotes. Seems like you live on a farm, but im pictureing city life :)
How are these dogs for an apartment life. I have a fairly large apartment with 3 bedrooms.
I have experience with a Husky back when i had a house of my own. How are these different/similiar also between this and Saarlooswolfhound which would you recommend? Noise is now quite a factor as well so i'd hope to keep it to a minimum. (from Finalnd)
The CWD is actually of rather shy nature not as much as the Sarloos wolf hound but still much more than a German shepherd. They require a very very good socialisation as soon as you get the pup. Also they are not what you could call a beginner's dog^^
i know this comment you made was from 3 months ago , but what is it that makes this breed more difficult , and also what would be considered another breed to compare its temperament with
Hard to compare, It's not that they are that difficult, it's just that when you raise one you need to adapt differently. You need to be a strong, fair pack leader with them. The CWD don't respond the same way A german shepherd do. I have a GS as well older than my CWD if I am mad at him for some reason he will just go on the ground in submition, my CWD will look at me defiantly and test me all the time. If I m firm he will listen but I have less room for mistakes or weaknesses than with my GS.
oh and to Ektelon 15. 2-3 of the same litter or same age not always the easiest of choices. better get them with an age difference. Let you the time to get a good bound between you and your pups and not them bounding with each others and then you.
No.... not even alittle bit of shyness. As long as you are there they will go anywhere, do anything, and play with anyone :) There trusting and fearless as long as there "pack" is around.
I have a friend who lives in Norway now, but is from Germany. He has this Czechoslovakian wolfdog. Its really nice! I don't know the rules, but it seems okay to have this wolfdog in Norway. ;)
@Xtremicuz in Norway it¨s not legal i you have a wolf hybrid or czeck wolfdog the police shoot it on site and if your friend can be deported in worst case or if he is lucky a ticket minumun 20000euro
i wish to own this breed some day (after my current dogs). But unfortunaly here in Norway they are illegal =((((( they have no evidence for that the breed should be illigal, but unfortunaly there are people who know people of the law, and they just dont like the dogs. Therefore its illigal =(
I find these dogs really interesting and beautiful at the same time.
Yes, I live in Noway too... I hate the people who made that rule, that its illigal... :( :( :( I want to have a wolfdog... But I have to move out of Norway, And i am only 14...
@Cuvac Is so true, even if this breed is beautiful i would not have it in Norway (I would love it to be leagal) because it could be shot, mistaken for a wolf :'(
Now im 15, but im going to move to USA when i am about 20 years old, to be able to have breeds like the wolfdog and pitbull, allso snakes and reptiles ;D and sugar glider :-)
love so much this czech dog. Certainly the most beautiful and pure kinde of dog. is it hard to get one ?? and what is the behaviour of this type of dog ???
Please, can anyone tell me if there are breeders in America? Please, i feel so excited about this breed. Kenzman, where are you from?
And please, can anyone tell me the differences between These Czechoslovakian Wolf Dog and the Saarloos Wolfhound? Anywaym i like Czechoslovakian Wolf Dog Better.
Very beautiful animals, which I believe you must find a breeder from overseas to obtain. I have looked for over four months for a mention of a US breeder. I would also love to share my home with such a noble creature. We both share roots in the same geographical region. One set of my grandparents were from Hungary and the other side were from Czechoslovakia. I liked your choice of background music as well.
no such thing as czech wolfdog... it is czechoslovakian wolfdog, bred in former czechoslovakia. and if you want to call it other than that, please call it a slovak wolfdog as they were bred in western slovakia no czech republic... all the best, nice vid.

Why would they shoot such a rare animal as a wolf? They should protect it and give it space to live, humans are so bad to animals!

I'm not going to tutor you about the history of czechoslovakia, and these animals were bred in what was known as czechoslovakia, not either of them.
Don't bitch the dogs history, he deserves his rightful name.
