  • Bernie Sanders should run for President.

  • It's been about 15 years since I was able to see a dentist last. I now have a health care plan that includes dentistry, but even with the 80/20 coverage, knowing the very fact that every single tooth in my head is riddled with cavities there's simply no way I would be able to pay for them to all be drilled and filled. Not to mention the ones that are beyond that state and need to be replaced with false teeth. Even with my plan, I'd be bankrupt after all of that....

  • "well my sister was once told when she went in for treatment..." what a ridiculous argument. when the stats and facts don't back up your opinion you can always go to one-off horror stories. "I once saw a plane crash on the news... so flying is good...but only if you want to die in a firey explosion."

  • they also have higher taxes, who the hell wants to pay taxes?

  • People seem to forget that having a public health system doesn't mean getting rid of private practices. If you want to give birth in a public hospital then yes, you may have to give up certain comforts subject to funding. If you don't want to give up those comforts then you can pay to give birth in a private hospital.

  • @waori Whoa whoa, stop trying to spread communism.

Big business knows best for us.

  • @cyberslick18: lol.

  • Wow, Bernie Sanders made that privileged Republican look out of touch regaarding healthcare. He confidently said, "when people need emergency surgery and they can (afford) they come here in the U.S. The Bernie says, "yeah (if) they're rich." What good is the best heaalthcare if only a privileged few have access to it. It's easy for a rich white guy like that republican to dismiss that situation, We live in a system where you can't afford to get sick in the mean time. Speaking for middle class.

  • Hey! We in Europe have GREAT health care! That bloke doesn't know what he's talking about! Never had trouble with health care, it's one of the few things we have done to near-perfection!

  • Since when do you have a right to someone else's service?

  • @htiberian Ever heard of the police department? Why do you have a right to the police officers' protection? Idiot.

  • @Gayboose I make the same distinction. I never voted for the police and I have to pay for them anyway.

  • @htiberian You would pay into healthcare the same way you pay into the police department. And the next time you call 911 when somebody is about to harm you, I want you to think about what you just said.

  • @htiberian The Fire department? when your house is about to burn. Or the military? I could go on forever. You haven't a leg to stand on.

  • @Gayboose I have never been robbed by a burglar, but I get robbed on a regular basis by the government. You know the government is just a monopoly of force and people like you are stupid enough to believe it's legitimate. I take my own precautions - just a little thing called personal responsibility.

  • @htiberian <-- personal responsibilities? who have responsibilities to make roads? bridges? is there a person in america will built a road using their own money? republicans, these are people that have too many money benefit from poor people n now they complain that their money are been taken away. if u only look for your self, go live in a jungle. alone

  • We don't dress better in England ...thats the Italians job. (I made a funny.)

  • These guys are wearing so much make-up! It is ridiculous, they look like clowns!

  • Republican got OWNED!!!well done Bernie

  • 0:27 schlongly

  • Please stop ripping on the NHS. I live in England and the NHS is fantastic. Not perfect sure, but for every horror story there are a hundred saying how the NHS either dramatically improved their lives, or even save them. America would do well to copy to copy significant aspects of our NHS.

  • I forgot vermont was even a state because it's never talked about. But when it is talked about it's good things. love it!

  • 5:00 onwards...wow

  • What is with the star of david icons on youtube lately?

  • lol at the JKF reference. Tim did sound like his dear relative.

  • I really admire Bernie Sanders

  • americans are sooo dumb, spend that kind of money on nothing. welcome to sweden biatch :)

  • Americans are so fucking stupid.

  • Yeah, America has the best healthcare system. All the home surgery videos right here on YouTube prove that beyond a doubt.

  • Comment removed

  • The added expense to america's healthcare system is the profit! take away the profit for a minuscule number of people who own hospitals, and america will pay less per capita and everyone will be better off. Why fight for the super rich to become super duper rich?

  • I'm from England and on the whole we tend to take our NHS healthcare for granted. However I cannot imagine how I would survive without it, But it is whats right. Everyone deserves healthcare and to be treated when they are sick. Not just the rich who can afford to pay ridiculous charges and bills. I don't understand how America has not implemented any form of national healthcare yet.

  • ahhhhhhhh this is so good... by the end of it I think even the Republican is questioning his beliefs... THIS NEEDS TO GO VIRAL!!

  • I love how Bernie started shaking his head when Heye's was saying Europe's healthcare system isn't working.

  • One thing these Republicans don't seem to understand is that the best healthcare in the world means nothing if you have no access to it. And FYI, 86 percent of Canadians say they would never trade their healthcare system for ours, and France's healthcare was recently rated as the best in the world.

  • @merchan5967 you are so right. I am a Canadian and we so would not change our health system for anything else. I find it strange that there are American people (reb and even possible dem) do not want to even look at the possiblility that a universal health care system would not only benefit the people but also the country.

  • @carad78 because most of them are probably on the take from lobby groups who want to keep the status quo. they want people to go to the emergency room as it cost a lot of money, they dont want preventable centres to stop it :( I live in England and i only go to the emergency room in a emergency and our doctors deal in preventable care. :)

  • @loudman12 that is so sad ahhh... you think that they would like to have a system that would provide for all and be a stronger health care system... sometime I get so tired listen to these so called individuals i.e. reb. and some dem. claim to care about America and the American people but all they care about is big business and war...

  • @carad78 The problem is that because the private health insurance companies makes billions of dollars they are virtually untouchable :( and even if you have the insurance they still have to authorise it. In England you pay national insurance from your income. So for example if i break my leg, i got to the hospital and get the care for free, no additional cost, free at the point of use. In england the government are scared of the people, in america the other way around

  • @loudman12 That last line you just wrote is the number one reason why we can't have socialize health care in the states. The US has 6 times the population of England and giving any government that much power is scary. States can have socialize health care and I see the benefits of it but the US as a whole can't have it at the federal level, all it will be is another means for the federal government to potentailly control our lives.

  • @whyamimrpink78 they already control your lives as it is, but the problem you have is that you have between 30-40 million uninsured users, potentially people are going to die from it, at the end of the day, socialised health care has its weakness, not all solutions will be perfect, but a population size is not a excuse administered correctly then it can work. america spends hundreds of billions on killing the army yet can not help it's people, that is sad :(

  • @loudman12 Well, the other problem is that medical cost is so different across the country. The federal government can't have a one size fits all policy. When states run it it will be managed better based on that particular state's cost of living and health factors. In some areas socialize healthcare would work, in others it won't. Let the states decide. It will work better and still allow to control the government better.

  • @loudman12 I totally agree with you, the same is here in Canada as well. People may rage against the machine per se but people are scared of the government here to, and your right in the United States they are not. That is the reason why their systems i.e. health care, education etc... is the way that it is. I am not saying that it is all bad, but it isn't getting any better because certain powers to be are scared of a social health care system were all people get treatment.

  • @merchan5967 As a Canadian who has lived in France, it is amazing to me that the US STILL hasn't fixed this issue. The republican here shows the colours of his arguments, and the lack of content and knowledge which is typical of his party's political communications with their constituents. France has AMAZING healthcare, even by Canadian standards. Drugs cost next to nothing, and a doctor's visit costs nothing. Republican USA, give your head a shake.

  • @CroisadeNoir The insurance industry is a billion dollar cash cow, and comhress is never going to cut off the lobby money.

  • @Mozart1220 I meant CONGRESS. Maybe if I lived in france I could get glasses...jeez...

  • Squawk.....SOCIALISM!!!! SQUAWK!!!!!

  • Ah the republican, even he didnt believe in the bullshit he was saying. You could see his akwardness, he kept fidgiting his hands

  • Love the show.

And the guy who's sister who didn't get an epidural because she was to healthy.

We believe that a healthy woman should be able to give birth naturally and we know anesthetics can hurt the baby.

But than us Europeans are funny that way.

  • damn somone get Doug a life line because Sanders just owned him LOL

  • I love this Bernie Sanders dude!! He's DA MAN!

  • my sister-in-law's neighbor's friend's co-worker's daughter's boyfriend's mother's aunt couldn't get treated for bad breath in the czech republic, so they had to fly her to america, where we have the greatest healthcare system on earth...see how i proved my point? see how i'm right and you're wrong? you're welcome.

shut up, asshat. moronic, trifling, ignore-the-reality-of-the-situation anecdotes are not enough.

  • WHY IS HEALTHCARE EVEN AN ISSUE?

The problem fixes itself if you just do what EVERYONE else is doing America.

  • JasonCIAHudson

that's a great fact. However, still does not fix America's piece of shit health system.

fact of the matter is: America has allowed corporate profit and sharehold dividends as the philosophical basis for its healthcare system and not the princple of:

    PROVIDING HEALTH !

it's not about socialism, communism, or capitalism, it is about making sure people are healthy so they can live longer to

    a) have freedom

    b) make money

    c) be exploited

    d) have babies

  • Here's a socialist study for you Bill:

"According to the way statistics are calculated in Canada, Germany (Norway)...a premature baby weighing less than 500 kg is not considered a living

child. But in the U.S., such low birth weight babies are considered livebirths... when the main determinant of mortality rates in the world is factored in, Norway has no better survival rates than the United States."

Infant mortality rate mean nothing as long as Europe lies about it.

  • @JasonCIAHudson wait...what? if a premature baby waying less than 500 kg is a mark for a dead baby in canada and germany (btw german != norway...um which one is it?) but a live baby in america, then doesnt that actually increase the infant mortality rate not decrease it? if those babies became counted toward successful births (as they are in america) the infant mortality rate would therefore be even LOWER than it is now.

  • @tuseroni No they don't count at all. So if said baby is born in Germany and it dies within a year it doesn't count. Were in America it would count.

  • Isn't the denial of an Epidural as a result of a medical condition (the woman was fit and healthy enough) a decision made by a doctor for medical reasons, not by some guy on a death panel out to getcha? Compare that to an insurance company denying people numerous other operations and procedures for financial reason.

  • England is not in Europe it is an Island of the coast of Europe stupid right wing trash!

They always lie about other countries they have never gone anywhere outside their own state and pretend to be do worldly.

I and many others around the world are sick of Right Wing Americans thinking they know about us when the DO NOT!

  • I live in London, and that's not true.

  • I say Tim for president.

  • @aegisgfx I know; he SOUNDS like a Kennedy!

  • That republican is the stupidest mannequin I have ever seen.

  • Wow, Bernie Sanders rules. Captain Crewcut got pwned

  • I wonder if they got through to that republican? Is it naive to hope that they did?

  • the guy in the green is beating off

  • bill is my nigga

  • "Anecdotes are not enough."

That needs to be stated over and over and over again. The con arguement always depends on "I know someone who knows someone that didn't get everything they think they should've and I know for a fact that I heard they aren't exaggerating the bad and understating the good in their experience for political reasons etc etc etc."

  • @Sardog1

the entire republican party platform is based on Anecdotes... so if you get rid of that it would eliminate them entirely.

  • i brushed and flossed right away after watching this lol go Bernie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That idiot who talked about "bad healthcare" in europe....

Well nr1. he proves the point that he works for the medical companies.

nr2. The health care in the USA is equal to a slaughterhouse!

nr3. He wants people to die so he can get bribes from the medical industry.

nr4. privatizing ANYTHING is a TERRIBLE thing. I thought the USA had learned that by now. But the average american is to STUPID to get it.

The more privatized = the less ACTUAL control the government and the people have!

  • This republican talking own Europe doesnt know shit.Europes health care and food are FAR BETTER for the average person than the USA.

  • Sen. Bernie Sanders is a socialist and thats why he rocks

  • @Dixafix He doesn't sound like a socialist - In Europe he would be called a social democrat. He seems like a really smart man, I wish he would lead your country.

  • @LocoGroove yeah he is a socialist he is featured in one of micheal moors movies and i am Canadian and yeah i wish he would lead my country instead of this stupid conservative parliment

  • @Dixafix Well okay, everything that supports the idea of equality seems to be socialist in North America. To me he sounds like a social democrat but whatever. And yes, I though you were American.

  • @LocoGroove well it probably is a social democrat and dont worry no harm done

  • When I gave birth in the USA I had no epidural for the very same reason. It wasn't needed.

  • With Universal Health care and stem cell research the cost of medical treatment will go down and greatly reduce medical spending.

Stem Cell is starting to prove itself to be an awesome and efficient field of medical science. Embryonic Stem Cell Research have the potential to cure cancer, aids, parkinson's and all types of injuries and possibly eventually lead to life extension for the human race.

The future looks a bit brighter these days.

  • That conservative dude got destroyed. He did his best to protect his political agenda, even dropped in the little 'OH YEAH MY NEIGHBOUR WAS IN EUROPE AND SHE DIED LIKE ALMOST INSTANTELY'.

  • @Churchx77 watch his hands and how he fidgets, he knows he's getting destroyed

  • What is up with conservatives and hating on Europe.

  • As an Australian... i find it odd you lot are still arguing over health care... we have universal health care, education and welfare and we're still not broke...

  • @WarriorCrimson BUT BUT BUT!

  • @Churchx77 I should add, these things sent half of Europe broke but that had a lot to do with stagnation in employment and wealth creation, unlike Australia where job and wage growth due to continuous GDP growth for 20 years. The US of A could have acheived this had it not pissed so much money up against the wall fighting two wars it couldn't afford to and had tried to repay 30 years of debts before they became the problem they are now.

  • Bernie Sanders for President

  • Also, I really wish Maher had not interrupted Tim Shriver. As for Doug Heye's contribution ... rather odd. He comes off as a career politician that refuses to see anything independent of the filtered configuration provided for him by his party. Most of his responses were Red Herrings. His contribution was terribly poor.

  • Tim Shriver's story is demonstrative of the problem. The man he spoke to had no clue because he was probably ignoring the issue. He listened to one group of people's idea's while remaining trapped in a bubble. Meanwhile, I read newspapers and watch myriad video news sources. Every time I heard the President speak about healthcare, I heard him discussing pre-existing conditions. So, obviously some people simply do not care. "Obamacare is a disaster." But what the hell do you know about it?

  • I effing LOVE Bernie!

  • wow 15% of those randomly screened at special Olympics events have to go to the emergency room...thats crazy right there....thats pretty bad this health care debate is really a hard one, especially from a perspective of the constitution, which is where any freedom loving american should base their values on...this is the only real deciding factor....thats why i lean in favor of this universal health system but its a tough debate,

  • This in unbelievable to me, why is this even a debate? Give everybody the right to healthcare for fuck sake!

  • "When people need emergenty surgeory and they can afford it, they come to the United States." Oh how I love when a republican jumps in without thinking and makes the democrats point for him. Reminds me of the guy in Religoules saying "You don't need to take an IQ test to become a senator", and then you see his face, and you know he's thinking: "Holy shit did I just say that?".

  • @MindfulFutureMedia [Here in Canada we also reap the rewards of a robust socialised healthcare system]

That's why the tax rate on all good is 15% and they pay $5.25 per GALLON/gas. That's why one of my in-law who's diabetic and could'nt walk anymore on his clogged legs was put on a 6 months waiting list and after constantly crying to his doctor because he was in pain, he managed to have one leg operated on after 4 months (cancelation because of Christmas) and the other at the 6 months mark.

  • @rivieracar1992 While I'm sorry to hear about your in-law, what you said was that it was EVENTUALLY treated, just not right away. If we are going to do the personal story card, my one uncle had cancer on his lung and it was treated and cured, and my other uncle had cancer and it was also eventually cured. They have both said that they were very grateful for our system (and they are both conservative). Ps. it's 13% and the cost for gas is different for each area ;).

  • lol studying is SOCIALIST

  • I don't think Vermont is actually the first at passing cost effective healthcare for all. Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Hawaii had this for about 30 years now?

  • Doug Heye mentions that in England (I think he meant to say Britain) we aren't as healthy. Thats because we've adopted an American lifestyle of fast food and inactivity. We've become the fattest nation in Europe, but it's not because of our welfare system. It's because we eat shit and don't exercise anymore.

  • Dough Heye should have just stopped talking once Bernie Sanders and Bill Maher made their points.

  • @MindRapeHa shut up u broke azz wetback

  • @MindRapeHa BEANER U IOWN U...COME PICK MY FRUITS

  • Another anecdote... a friend, an American girl student who was living in the UK for about 18 months, came down with spinal meningitis. She got long-term treatment in an NHS hospital in Edinburgh Scotland (where she lived), and got all the treatment for recovery which took months. Apart from still having to use (free) prescription drugs, she recovered great. Her family did NOT have to spend one penny for anything. Her parents were immensely grateful, and I'm proud of the NHS here.

  • "You think it''s expensive now wait until it's free" - uh, NO, it would never be "free" - a single payer system is NOT "free" - but it is much better for a nation as a whole than America's health care "system" is !!!

  • Alright Bernie! Representing Vermont well :3

  • Doug Heye is an embarrassment to Conservative Republicans and Ron Paul should kick his ass for not doing some basic research before stepping on Bill Maher's stage.

  • god foresaken shitholes of the world...lol

  • Whaaat? England has certainly not the best medical system... France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Holland have the best.

And we pay 51% Taxes and live good life.

  • I just wish someone would say, as a legislator, or as a person in power, we are going to raise your taxes by 600 dollars, so that you can have universal health care and not have to pay 6000 dollars a year for health insurance. We are going to save you money.

  • Just last week, 2 different insurance companies here in Oregon denied my application for health insurance because of pre-existing conditions I have. .......what's next for me?

  • @MrKriebs

    Come and live in Europe!

I would be happy to have a bit more American immigrants in Belgium.

  • @aenarion1984 just let me know how. i will move there. happily. i was told if u r not wealthy n just a common working poor person they don't want u. that there's income requirements(yearly) that ur skill/ salary matters when trying to immigrate to europe.

  • bernie sanders for president ! doug heye is a tard he has bought into all the republican bullshit stop being a republican or a democrat be a fucking american and a human being!

  • Go Bernie!

  • Man that doug guy looks like a manager at wal-mart and he has a really big wife.

  • Dear America,

Please keep tabs on this Sen. Bernie Sanders. He will lead your country back to greatness one day.

    Signed,

    The World

  • @freakystyley4000

    Dear America,

Sen. Sanders will lead your country where Gorbatschov lead his.

    Signed,

    The Reality from Soviet Union

  • @akaee - er dude, the Soviet Union don't exist no more... you do know this right?

  • @freakystyley4000

Well that's the whole point you genious!

  • @akaee - and you do realise that due to the fall of the Soviet Union that Russia is now a democratic country right? They didn't exactly go to hell in a handbasket, and NO, I'm not implying that Russia is now a libertarian's paradise... far from it. Though, I'm less likely to get shot in Moscow, compared to Newark NJ.

  • @freakystyley4000 some people still deny that the soviet union doesnt exist, we call them mental patients

  • bernie is a cool guy,he speaks common sense..

  • Doug Heye ur an asshole!!!!

  • Here's an anecdote for you. A New Jersey woman went to a hospital to give birth. She was having no complications at all but the doctor still demanded she sign a c-section authorization; she refused to sign unless something goes wrong (FYI Doctors get to bill double the amount for a delivery via c-sect). So the doctor delivered her child, no problems occured, then had the child immediately siezed by protective services since her refusal to sign constitutes child endangerment.

  • wait wait wait.....DID BERNIE SANDERS JUST SLAP THE SHIT OUT OF A REPUBLICAN WITH FACT, LOGIC AND ARGUMENTS

  • @dramatish Bernie Sanders rocks---Too bad we dont have more representatives like him in congress.

  • @dramatish LOVE !!! he Certainly did!

  • @dramatish it was neat to see the republican fold his hands... the facts just aren't there for any of his arguments :D awesome to see!

  • @dramatish That'll do no good. Republicans are plumbed into the sewage pipe :)

  • @dramatish I cudnt believe it either!!!

  • Keep plugging the facts Bernie and maybe just maybe it reach the masses!

  • Tim looks like his uncle Ted, it's so damn scary.

  • @ForbesFortune I thought the exact same thing! I was like he has to be a Kennedy because he a dead ringer for a young Ted Kennedy.

  • This guy is so full of shit with his stupid anecdote about his sister in London. Guess what. I live in France. When my mom came to visit me here, she visited a dentist and had a new cap put in for about 25 bucks. The same procedure in the States would've cost hundreds. No comparison.

  • I've watched this video a bunch of times now and I think the best part is when the RNC tool start spouting his talking points to Bernie Sanders and Bernie Sanders shoots them down so vigorously ... there is this look on his face that says "wait, usually when I spout my talking points points people just consume them without thinking too critically; WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?"

  • 4:22 is fucking hilarious.

  • This is so true about why the European-style healthcare system is better.

I recently went to the doctor sbout a medical issue I was having and my doctor first wanted me to "walk it off" then she wanted me to "wait and see"...... and then I finally convinced her that I was having real pain and that I wanted blood-work and a urine sample done. She finally agreed.

The lab work revealed I had an infection and needed anti-biotics to get rid of it or else it may become chronic. CORRECT THE PROBLEM

  • I could see the republican in the room before he even opened his cock sucker.

  • @USAFFountain HAHAHA, man this made my night!

  • @USAFFountain You mis-spelled "Kochsucker"

  • What's so good about a single payer health care system? I'm not really good at subjects like this [medicare etc.] x_x;

  • @kmelfina under single payer everybody gets health coverage and its cheaper overall for the country because we pool our money together. we pay the most in the world for healthcare and yet there are huge gaps where people aren't covered (ie uninsured/underinsured), our system is broken.

  • Its scary to have free healthcare? Stupid republicans... Theyre scared of losing their medical lobby money, thats whats scary. The ignorance just has no bounds...

  • I thoroughly enjoy watching Doug Heye shut his stupid mouth when presented with facts.

  • It's amazing to think that I was born into a republican, conservative, christian, homeschooling family in the middle of the Bible Belt. How far I've come since then. After learning more about the world, and having to actually work for a living, I have rejected all of the economic philosophies that I was taught as part of that community. If there is one thing I have learned, it's that the only true lazy, corrupt welfare queens living off of handouts are believers in conservative economics.

  • @dch3348 GREAT

  • Bernie is one the best things to happen to politics in the last 30 years.

  • Bill Maher is the BEST!!!

  • LOL Tim, your Kennedy's showing.

  • We've tried the soap box and the ballot box with no success. What's next? The ammo box?

  • @kodiakfred140 maybe a fast food box

  • I think that Republican got slammed by Bernie.

  • The problem is the insurance industry is too deeply rooted into our political system that it calls the shots, sets the price, and denies coverage at its own devices all for the price of paying off politicians. We will NEVER see effective change in our country in anything until there is effective lobby reform to greatly curtail buying off politicians.

  • @sarkelcpa totally agree....the insurance companies have all the lobbiest up on capital hill

  • @sarkelcpa Yeah good luck with that....no major politician is going to "reform' lobbying. That's their bread and butter.

  • Thanks for sharing this video and thereby promoting Medicare for all. Enough people have died already.

  • bernie sanders is probably the only american politician i ve seen who really has a pretty good idea of what's going on in usa and the rest of the world

  • @eggsandwine That's true, he is. There is also Alan Grayson and Anthony Weiner.

  • He really does look like a Kennedy.

  • I really enjoyed this panel. Bernie owned, and I loved the JFK bit.... Fuuuny lol

  • I hope the rest of the States follow Vermont!!!!

  • doug you look like shit there, BAIL BAIL!!!

  • "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his job depends on not understanding it." Upton Sinclair (1878 – 1968)
