@Fabioapf im not sure, your best bet would be to ask a fender dealer, if you enjoy the jm sound youd enjoy his big dipper pickups, im not sure if you can get them without buying his signature guitar, or email fender and ask the nearest pickup to his that they do,
@MUSIC4URDOG Yes, he is running gain/compression/delay and most likely his stereo dual amp set up. In order to get close you'll need a stereo set up (For more bottom end/fill out sound) or a really good overdrive/gain pedal. I suggest the Amp11 pedal.
@MUSIC4URDOG I watched the whole video. He's right. You play it right, but the tone is way off. Not sure if you were trying to get a Mayer tone though. Just didn't seem to have any highs and muddy mids. Of course we all hear different things out of different computer speakers.
@phatfieldguitar - I didn't know this was an instructional video, you completely missed the point of music being ART.....say something nice, or shut the hell up and go back to lurking in the guitar shop. Guys like you are the reason music is going to shit today and none of it is live or barbie is up there with her autotune, always more concerned about everything but being creative and REAL....
@sincityblues85 What...? I think YOU missed the boat dude, this is a TONE TEST as it reads in the TITLE of the video. And how am I arguing anything being synthetic or 'un real', and when did I mention auto tune? I just gave him advice on how to achieve the TONE he's looking for... You need to take it easy and find some other video to post your insensible blabber on.
hi there im split position between neck and middle, both tones on bout 8, vol on about 7 just to take out a bit of the bite and smooth it out, hope this helps
My ears are better than my playing, so forgive my inability to back it up much when I say that you're 99% there. Tone sounds good, I know how it sucks with the crappy camera/mic setup. But the first two notes of each phrase seem to be too staccato in several videos like this. Am I the only one who thinks so? I just think the finger should hold down the fret through each note. I know it's an opinion when it comes to improv, but as for the playback I just wanted to throw in my two cents...
@MUSIC4URDOG I think he was referring to the amp, not the guitar. The eq does sound pretty flat. Considering it's a strat, there could definitely be more spank and sparkle there...
its a little staccato but great tone!!

@MUSIC4URDOG Such a large volume (100W?), and think that sounds acceptable to the flats. He that can sound in a quiet volume?
