on the kboot line type: "boot-game-os" withoth the quotes. or you can hold the on/off button for about five seconds that will do a hard reset.

hold down the power button till it beeps twice. I did this yesterday and i was mad trying to figure it out, but then i did and uninstalled it. Because i have no clue how to press enter.

you can also chose boot-game-os from the drop down menu's once you are in Yellowdog.

All irrelevant anyway, i installed it out of curiosity.  It's shit.

the PS3 browser has plugins to play everything yet the Linux version can't play any media files without paid plugins, and ya can't install most of the plugins ya need to run everything, as they aren't supported, it's also really slow.

have no clue how to press enter? The most common button pressed on a keyboard. Are u serious?

Hmmm, thats funny i speak English and i understood 98% of what he was saying.

Sure the picture quality was shitty so ya can't read what he's showing ya but if you are so incompetent u can't work out this basic guide maybe you shouldn't be worrying about installing an OS on anything.

PS I agree with Anzor though, why would ya bother, PS3 is for games, movies.

Unless you don't have a PC already or your PC is 5+ yrs old PS3-PC is pointless.

step 2: The PS3 OS boot

you need a program for linux and ubuntu called wine. if you're not an uber geeky 13 year old i'd say don't try it. if you are, then go ahead, install wine, you can find tutorials and how to's on it pretty easy

Why Ubuntu? its like the slowest linux there is. Even if they unlock the rsx the only Linux that would have any chance of running games off the ps3 is Gentoo.

as a general purpose Linux distro, ubuntu runs faster than most. Gentoo is for geeks. If you want to play games then that's what the Ps3 is for. Now hope and pray that Sony develops GameOS into a Linux or Unix OS so no more need to dual boot.

Where did you get the otheros.bld from? My setup just looks different from yours. One annoying problem is that it doesn't fit my rear-projection tv, but i can work on that once i get it installed.

For some reason it wants to instal to stb instead of sta, is that alright still?

hmph which play station system do you own? 40 or 80? other thing the otheros.bld is already on the .iso i post in my first video, it's integrated on the CD, your play station should find it one the ps3, if your installation looks different you re using another version of otheros.bld and well good luck ;)

Need a little help here... I have the problem someone else has already reported. Everytime I try to install gutsy gibbon, it stucks at 15%, and has done so 3 times in a row. Any tips?

3 times in a row OMG... hmph how do you know its stucked? and other thing is your ps3 in a COOL place? this affect as well and hmph i suggest you using a 10 gb partition for linux =)

Well, in the 4rd try I let it at 15%, and the drive started making noise again. Screen was ubuntu, but no ubuntu is installed. Oh well, guess I'll just re-download and re-burn the ISO, re-format the PS3 and try again.

when you type it once it will boot up as ps3 always, until you change to Other Os =)
