  • this really brings back memories :) used to watch it and Superstars on SKY ONE back in the 90-s. good old days of WWF wrestling :)

  • Best team ever!

It's better than "blah blah blah" "Shut up Cole."

  • The best commentary team in wrestling history! R.I.P. Gorilla!

  • MAN!!!!! i miss these days of wrestling!!!

  • I actually liked the version of this intro after this one, where they added sound effects when the guys would hit the moves on the jobbers

  • my god what great memories, I wish my directv has wwe 24/7, but they havent gotten it,

  • Absolute legends, both of them.

  • Oh my God, these two crack me up. Absolute legends. Heenan was indeed hilarious, but Monsoon was BRILLIANT as the "straight man". Man... now I need to score some old-school Wrestling Challenge/Superstars broadcasts...

  • @unclestrug i have them

  • Oh my God, these two crack me up. Absolute legends. Heenan was indeed hilarious, but Monsoon was BRILLIANT as the "straight man". Man... now I need to score some old-school Wrestling Challenge/Superstars broadcasts...

  • Haha The Brain

  • Gorilla and the Brain were amazing. All the best anouncers came along at the same time unfortunately.

  • HERE WE GO!!!!

  • I remembered this wwf challenge show. It is what they call now a Super Show. I was there in attendance as wwf presents Wrestling Challenge & Prime Time Wrestling. This event took place at the then Capital Center in Landover,Md. So many wrestling memories, Hocky events & other memoral events that took place there. Its a shame that the capital center (Arena) no longer stands there anymore. (Thank you for the memories and the arena!)

  • @hotstudd505

Yep, I was there in MD for this show, as well. It was taped Wednesday night, September 2, 1992.

  • MY GOD what a roster WWF had back then! I miss commentators like Heenan, Gorilla, Jessie and even McMahon. Not to say the managers...

  • Richard M Nixion not Richard P Nixion Bobby!

  • Heenan is so awesome.

  • You're outta here! *smack*

  • bobby heenan is the real life Cartman !

  • They sounded like an old married couple, lol.

  • Just for a quick trivia....can anyone name any of the jobbers in these clips? :P

  • 0:50 Brooklyn Brawler (vs Tatanka),

0:52 Ron Cumberledge or Scott Colentonio (vs Ric Flair)

0:55 Scott Taylor (vs Beverly Bros)

1:05 Glen Ruth (vs Razor Ramon)

    I'm just guessing, no garan-damn-ty ;)

  • You win points for trying. You're probably right!

  • I would have voted for Heenan.

  • Best commentating duo,the brain and the gorilla

  • "Do unto others from behind with a board" - Heenan was amazing.

  • those were the days too bad I was not allowed to watch wrestling during the best era I was really little

  • Pure class, I hate to harp on about the past but nothing comes even close to this - Gorilla and the Brain are unbeatable, even the wrestling was more entertaining!

  • I couldnt agree more!

  • Thank you. I wonder how the brain's health is. I hope he gets better. WWE should invite him back for one night to be a guest color commentator without Vince saying one goddamn word to him in his headphones. Just let the brain be the brain and let him loose.

  • I really really miss seeing The Brain and Monsoon. Sometimes I wish i can take a magic wand and just turn Cole and Lawler into th brain and monsoon. Raw would be 110% more entertaining than this current shitfest thats on right now.

  • i think about that every time i watch.

  • Damn, that was a mean looking razors edge at the end, the dude folded up like a accordion.

  • Damn hearing Monsoon's voice brings back memories for sure.

  • nobody did it better than the brain and monsoon.

  • and macho man , n jessie the body ventura lol so insulting they were

  • No to were better. Jeese and Mondoon were good too but I think Brain was the best.

  • me too. J R and King are good.

    my top 5

    1. Brain and Monsoon

    2. Gordon Solie and Terry funk

    3. Jesse and Vince

    4. Michael Cole and Tazz

    5. Mike Tennay and Larry Zybsco (sorry for the mispelling)

Tony Schovonie I cannot stand him.

  • You forgot Lord Alfred Hayes and Craig DeGeorge

  • I wasn't even born when them 2 were JR and the King. I do remeber Lord Alfred Hayes was the Mean Jean Okerland around the late 80's and early 90's.

  • I'd take the mid-carders vs. jobbers from back then...

Then the Superstars vs. Superstars they have today...

  • Wrestling challenge was just like WWF (WWE) Superstars , mid card wrestlers face jobbers .

  • Classic stuff - Brain and Gorilla were golden indeed!

  • YES THEY WERE!!!!

  • Heenan is Prime Minister!!

i enjoyed the raft between theses 2 Heenan and the late Gorilla

    RIP: Gorilla

  • i love this theme!

  • *wrestling crowd cheer*

  • the wrestling moves they did bak then looked much realer bak then n it looked like it really did hurt, cause 2day theres alot of missed wrestling moves that dont make it look realistic or too fake lookin lol

  • thats because the amateurs that pass as wrestlers now rush through their matches. During the good ol days wrestling was a methodical art that these guys mastered.

  • This was an opening from my one and only Challenge taping I attended in Landover, MD.

  • The good old Capital Centre/US Air Arena. That building had some great events held in it. The 1995 Survivor Series was held there and I believe SummerSlam '92 was supposed to be there before they moved it to London. Oh yeah, and the Bullets/Wizards and the Caps played there too.

  • You are absolutely correct in that SummerSlam 1992 was supposed to be right here, at the Capital Centre, before it was moved to Wembley Stadium. I was pissed, because I had never been to a WWE TV event ever, as you know TV basically never came out this way. But instead of SummerSlam, we at least got this Wrestling Challenge taping. What a long night that was (lol). My father took me at the time, because I was too young to drive, and he wasn't happy since he had to work early the next day

  • Brain is awesome, lol!

    Monsoon: "Will you STOP!"

    :D

  • I would have voted for Heenan.

  • I used to love all that Heenan/Monsoon banter, but it just sounds so stupid now.

  • Suck it you humorless tool

  • Do you have the other version with the sound effects?

  • hahaha god i love the brain! :0)

  • Monsoon and Heenan, my second favorite comedy team to The Three Stooges :~)

  • I really wish Bobby Heenan was president

  • I love the way Mr. Perfect did the dropkick and drove the feet into you.

  • Getting nostalgic here seeing that razor's edge and then the fade into wwf logo. Brings back a lot of memories. Heenan was awesome! Interesting comments about the announcers not actually being at the event, I bet those links were all filmed in front of a green screen in the same wwe studio at titan towers they use for afterburn and velocity to this day!

They should bring back the old shows, instead of the raw/smackdown split wrestlers should either be drafted to challenge or superstars!

  • rip monsoon

  • Best duo ever. JR and King have fallen off together in recent years. Gorilla and Ventura was just once a year. McMahon and Ventura could blend but didn't have that same level of timing. Cole and JBL was good but JBL carried Smackdown broadcasts and made Cole watchable (a testament to his talent as a color man) Joey and Tazz just didn't have any good action to call really, but when they got some they flourished.

  • Wow a Shaker Heights Spike by the Beverly Brothers!!!! I love it!!!

  • Superstars in order: Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Tatanka, Ric Flair, Mr. Perfect, Beverly Brothers, Undertaker, Big Boss Man, Jerry Sags, Papa Shango, Ted DiBiase, and Razor Ramon

  • this wwf theme rocks!

  • Perfect totally nailed that drop kick at 0:54 - what a legend!

  • that looked like it hurt for real

  • Best Commentors:

    Gorila Moonson,BobbY Heena,Vince MCmahon,JR,King(when hes heel),JBL,Joey,Tazz

  • yeah u re right!

    Jr:Wats that?

    PH:Music wat u think?

  • I liked it when Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura commentated for Wrestlemania VI, and Alfred Hayes was good to listen to during the main event at [the first] Wrestlemania during the Hogan-Mr.T vs. Piper-Orndorf match.

  • I miss Wrestling Challenge. I remember watching this when i was little. they should have brought this back with The Main Event

  • I was actually here for this Wrestling Challenge taping in Landover, MD. A lot of people don't realize that the announcers, as above ... were not. Monsoon and Heenan are standing behind a blue screen here, and weren't even at the show ... unless they were backstage ... but they never appeared the entire night.

  • I attended Superstars of Wrestling at Arco Arena in Sacramento in 1991. It was when Macho Man proposed to Miss Elizabeth. The announcers were not there and when Elizabeth pointed and said something about loving Macho, she was just pointing at the crowd. Mean Gene came out to get all teh cheering for the openings.

  • Yeah, same basic thing. Believe it or not, I actually remember that show you were describing when Elizabeth pointed to "Randy". For some reason, I have a good memory back in those days.

  • does any one have any wwf wrestling challenge or superstars for sale???

  • me.....i have superstars 1990 and 1991. pm me if interested

  • How awesome would Monday Night Raw have been with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the Brain as the announcers. People just do not know what they are missing. These two guys had the best chemistry. RIP Gorilla and God Bless The Brain.

  • Totally Agree

  • Finally, a Wrestling Challenge open NOT taped with a camcorder pointing at a TV!!!

  • Heenan was the man.

Seriously made me laugh all the time LOL.

  • This is just hilarious.

    I loved watching these two..

    Total Gold..

  • whatever it took to get your attention. He was good at getting under your skin.

  • I would have voted for Heenan.

  • Heenan is fucking hilarious!
