  • Shocked! ! The secret to become a good ballet website: bal.nn.cx

  • Comment removed

  • It looks like soo much fun =D hahah

  • cool ich hab was unanständiges entdeckt

  • Hello there! Have you thought about the maximus muscle 247 workout (google it)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my father gained a ton of muscle with it.

  • his voice is sexy.

  • i have this, and for me as a ballet student it was difficult. because they didn't turnout and ended in the metaphorical "sixth position" like on the assembles, and I'm used to landing in fifth. Still it's a good exercise on how to be able to change to choreography.

  • @LilRedBallerina yeah me too! everything is done with the legs parallel while we are used to turning out.. it confuses me as much as I want to try this lol.

  • is there a section where they teach each move separately (and slowly)?!??? I'd love to do this, but it's difficult unless you know how to do the moves first. Would be super helpful if they did each one slowly, and perhaps facing the opposite direction (backs to screen so the orientation is easy to follow).

  • @visceralanding Yes, they do show all the moves more slowly on the DVD, this is the part where they put everything together and do it fast. Also, they mean for you to mirror the dancers' moves so that there's no confusion about which leg goes where and such... Hope this helps. :) I own the DVD and it's very good!

  • The narrator's "good job" was so encouraging and enthusiastic at 2:19...... haha

  • lol, oh, them fancy dancers look like theyre dancing as they workout... lol i love it!!

  • i like this its actually what they do in real ballet classes and companys

  • where are parts 1-9 for this???(:

  • At first i was like 'lol' but then I tried it and was like ' Ow.'

  • why is this all in sixth??

  • If I want to do this, but have no ballet traning what DVD should I look for?

  • @TheLonghairraven First thing: don't be afraid to repeat exercises over and over until you get them. You may look ridiculous for a while, but I have some training and still had to repeat the basic stuff. So no worries about no training :) Second: the NYCB came out with two volumes and this is the second one. I'd look for the first one. I know Barnes and Noble has a two disc package that has Workouts 1&2 for about $30. A little less if you have the membership. Happy dancing, hoped this helped :)

  • What do you do once you get through this video? Do they have a second one?

  • theres something sinister about the guy giving the dance commands at the dancers.

  • This is a fine workout, but if you really want total results--to really be able to pull this off, you're going to need to see this whole thing first before you even attempt any of it. They don't even really explain the exercises beforehand.

You've just got to go with the flow... immanently. They don't even attempt a slow demo before class begins. This isn't an at-home workout. This IS class with the New York City Ballet.

  • they're not even "dancing" (working out - whatever) together. LOL...LMAO. *pew pew* you're FIRED! (Actually, that might explain why they're doing in this video.)

  • what music is this?

  • I LOVE this piece to death (Louis Gottschalk's "Tarentella"). But, I've never liked dancing: certainly not doing it, nor watching it - except for modern dance, because the human body really isn't made for dance. There's not much one can do with it. So, the only way to make dance interesting is to "go all out". Modern dance (e.g. Pilobolus) is really cool & creative, but I don't find dance inspiring.

  • @duck24x people dance since the beggining of time....

  • what is the song?

  • thank you for posting this! I'm coming back to ballet after a bad injury and this helps me to prepare for actual class again : )

  • i used to do ballet more than ten years ago and this was one heck of a refresher course to get back into it! thank you for posting!

  • @weirdsister97 ... Good, its hard to just start back fresh. I didn't do Ballet to my adult years (20), Its been sometime but now I wish I would've leaned earlier, but yeah, good luck ... Very encouraging you are, so thank you, A lot !

Did you have a lot of rude people telling you not to do so ?

... Yes, thanks a ton for the video !

  • This looks so much more eloquent than some aerobics classes. As they say, less is sometime more.

  • anyone actually try this whole dvd and feel results?

  • i joined a dance class at the end of august and not in three weeks did i start seeing results. of course i had the class every other day, but wow! my entire body was different, my legs are so shapely now, and not chunky.

we dont do the same stuff they are, but its close.

  • You exercised every other day a la ballet? Kudos to you punkish duck! Kudos! The work itself is the reward and you deserve it! Are you young by any chance? Ballet every other day let alone everyday I might vomit...:P

But anyways, keep it up. Dance a lil dance for me maybe?

  • yea, im fairly young. i guess that may be a factor in the physical change, but after i quit volleyball, my metabolism really went downhill and it was difficult to stay in shape.

  • Uhh were they in parallel for most of that?? Even after assemble!? o.O

  • lol Yes. Assemblés look SO weird in parallel. I've ordered this DVD but I think when I use it, I'm going to do everything properly turned out. I just don't do parallel.

  • @MoodyMellerina They switch everything to turn out later on I think. I haven't watched all of the stuff yet, but they switch the exercises I've watched to turned out later in the exercise.

  • @CryingSmiles Jesus... It's a WORKOUT dvd. Get over it.

  • this is cool

its based off of the ballet tarantella

    a really fun dance

  • gonna try this tomorrow morning. Anyone who's done it thinks it is a good workout?

  • It makes you sweat a lot, and your muscles will hurt if you do correctly, did you start doing this yet???

  • i think its good. I am sweating!!!

  • I was sssssoooooo off.......XD

  • well those steps with 'wierd arms and turned in and toe and heel tapping stuff' are from classical character ballet that you would do in RAD syllabus for most grades.

This is a good dvd and a nice variation for ballet beginners as well as more advanced.

  • I wouldn't pass then...the heel toe thing was hard......for me....lol

  • K that wasn't even classical ballet! They were real steps but they were done wrong. turned in, weird arms and toe and heel tapping stuff!

  • omg thank you so much for posting this! I am going to use it all the time !! ; )

  • Except I'm sweating like hell...need shower...

  • Dude that was such a fun exercise =D

  • What a fun little variation!

  • i couldn't do it...too much choreography...simple jumping jacks, punching and kicking will have to do for me...it so sad...i wish i had just a little rhythm just a little....

  • The DVD breaks down the choreography so it's easier to follow along.
