Okay, I've watched a number of these Spore videos, so once you create a weird creature, then what? Just show it off or can you get these creatures to fight? Do they guard a nest or territory?

no, it's much more complex than that. as you evolve over time by exploring your world and fighting or befriending other creatures, you get more parts to create your creature with. eventually you form a tribe of your creature, then a civilization, until you're exploring space!
