  • Awesome video! If this show hadn't been cancelled Christy would have definitely picked Neil, because that's how the book ends. The book is awesome, btw! And I own this TV series on DVD. Also own the movies that were made later. But I liked the show better. :)

  • @Smalltowngal29 But she couldn't pick Niel like in the book, because they brought back his wife; he's still married! They'd need to do something about her for Christy to end up with him, or Cutter Gap would never have stood for it. lol.

  • @333Raina LOL You're right about Cutter Gap not putting up with that. But I'm sure the show's writers intended to 'remove' his wife. They could've used an illness, a train wreck, or even fixed it so he hadn't been legally married to her. Christy is a classic book. Changing it so she doesn't end up with Neil would be almost as wrong as making a movie of Pride & Prejudice and having Elizabeth marry someone besides Mr. Darcy! But I will admit the man playing David was gorgeous! :)

  • Stewy, stewy, stewy.. mate, you even broke my heart, and I've known you since 1974, even married your ex! LOL.

  • Oh come on! Let us view this from a mobile device! I'm traveling, want to watch some of my favorite videos and I can't. Boo hiss :(

  • @babyclearnhack89 I really like your comment! :D

  • If a woman can't choose between the good and the better, that's a disaster! David or Neil? They are both good men according to the show. The book, however describe David as more of a selfish person but in the show he is just as good as Neil. The problem left to Christy. She can't make up her mind and let them hanging for a long time. Such a pain in the butt. David and Neil, one of them should leave to help Christy in making her weak mind. That's true manliness! :D. I think David should leave.

  • And you will find a better woman who doesn't struggle to make up her mind. David can serve as a minister anywhere else, there were not only one cove where life condition was so critical. And who knows in another cove, another Mary, Rose, or Lavender...is worthier for him. Despite of what Christy could offer, she tortured the 2 men by her undecidable feeling. Such a drama, such a disaster! Weakness of women is that they can't decide, weakness of men is that they can't let go! Drama! Drama! Drama!

  • So real! So well portrayed. Thank you for the tip. more welcome thank you.

  • Love this.

  • probably my favorite christy video that i have seen. well put together. but when you excellent talent and perfectly cast characters, it makes putting a video like this so much easier. the show really should have been given a better chance and supported by cbs more than i think it was. luckily we can still enjoy the show now that its on dvd & of course the book is an american classic. kudos to a job well done.

  • God Neil is such a babe!!

  • This has become my favourite Christy/Neil tribute. A truly beautiful song and perfect for them.. thank you for putting it together and posting it :)

  • I have always been a Neil fan! Now I can close my eyes and say that this is how the series ended! I wish they had gone on another season :(

  • I hated the ending to this series...I was hooked on it with my sister like 8 years ago, but we always rooted for David. Niel was too old for her

  • I watched all the movies when I was younger but I just finished reading the book. I have to say I love this series, its my second favorite movie/book of all time.

  • @K1y7ou whats your favourite then?

  • @theolderversion my favorite would have to be the Anne of Green Gables series.

  • @K1y7ou That is so wierd I really like that two, me and my family watched no. 3 like last weekend!!

  • @theolderversion no kidding. I haven't watched it at least a yr so I'm good for a dose of Anne's big words and fiery temper. My grandma actually made me watch it so I'd leave her alone and I've been hooked ever since. My number 3 favorite movie is Gone With the Wind.

  • @K1y7ou Yeah I know didn't think I would like it but then it was like hey this actually really goood!! oh Maan I haven't heard of that film but I think I'll have a look at it as it seems we have the same taste films!

  • @theolderversion yeah it's a long movie I remember that much. After you watch Gone With the Wind, you should watch Scarlett. It's the sequel to it. I've only watched it once so I don't remember much about it but I'm pretty sure it's good too. Yeah I used to think all old movies were old and boring but I'm really glad I was pushed onto these. They're really good.

  • in some ways i see how neail and christy could be happy together but i still think she should be with david

  • the guy looks old enough to be her dad.

  • @noneyourbusinessfool In the book (and the series I think) he was supposed to be around 12-15 years older than her. He's just very rugged looking. The characters are wonderful though. Highly recommend the book.

  • @singdancelady23 oh. but there are a lot of good looking old guys, and this guy just looks kinda scary. no offense. but the series does sound interesting. can you tell me the name of the first book, i kinda want to read it now :)

  • @noneyourbusinessfool lol, understand :-) It's actually just one book that they built a series out of. It's Christy by Catherine Marshall, one of my favs.

  • @singdancelady23 okay, thanks a lot :)

  • @purlofagurl1 that is not true!

  • Is the last scene on this video in an actual movie? i have seen two different versions of this movie and they both end awful. :( any advice??

  • It all comes together here! Great vid!

  • I love the look on Neils face when Christy runs to him in the end. Someone one day will smile at me like that.

  • ok sorry to bother you but I've been looking for this song EVERYwhere. Where did you get it?

  • @invaderzooky me too!! I can't seem to find this recording..any advice?

  • Good Job I like it. :)

  • At first i liked the preacher beter but i am starting to like the docter more now!!

  • i'm rereading the Christy book... I ♥ it so much!!!

  • I luv this vid. best music vid Christy.

  • I just love them <3

    Best couple ever.

  • David was ok. He wanted to help people in the gap by helping them believe. Neil was a practical man of science and action who saw a problem and drugged it or cut it out.

  • Christy was definately an inspiration for me too as a kid. No surprise that now I'm a teacher to children in a highly rural area. I remember reading it as a kid and falling in love with Neil. He needed saving ;-)

  • Christy is my inspiration. Kellie Martin did a wonderful job protraying her.

  • aww soo sweet!^^D i think they have to be one of the sweetest couples in christy^.^ awesome job!

  • Does anyone know where Christy was filmed? Was it in Townsend, TN? If it was where in Townsend?

  • wow this was really good! I have not seen Christy in years but I have always always loved her with Neil!! I wanted her to be with Neil soooo badly! Those two actors really did have great chemistry and I still love them! Again great mvid! Would not mind seeing another Christy and Neil mvid :)

  • There are two Christy movies with Lauren Lee Smith, and good ole Stewart Finlay McClennon is still Doc Macneill! In the second movie she even marries Neil! The first one is Christy:Return to Cutter Gap . The second one is Christy:Choices of the heart. They're great!

  • Actually there were THREE Christy movies starring Lauren Lee Smith: Return to Cutter Gap, A New Beginning and A Change of Seasons. Each run about 90 minutes long and each are available on DVD. Kellie Martin was replaced with Lauren Lee Smith who was 8-inch taller and therefore making it very difficult to believe her in the role.

  • All I can say was that I was thrilled with her choice at the end of the novel :)

The important thing is that while David was a dashing boy, Neil was a MAN, a man with the experience of life to love and protect Christy

  • aw... that was adorable! ^_^ i havent seen this series in YEARS! wow. big ol' ball of cute, this is heehee honestly, i was one of those just as stuck as she was between her "choices." Neil and David both had a lot going for them. i should find a way to watch it again, see if i feel the same. hm... wonder where. newhosits, faved and 5*ed for sheer awesomeness

  • That was BY FAR my favorite Christy/Neil mv so far!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this :) You have just made my day!

  • People have tried to put other movies to this song, even movies I really like, but this movie is the only perfect one for this song, for those who have watched all of them! Awesome Job!! Great song, perfect movie!

  • still love this video soooo much!

  • Mmm, this is still my favourite Neil/Christy video ever. So good!

  • beautiful Loved this video and music. Wonderful. I imagine at this stage I have read the book Christy probably over 20+ times in my life.

  • Love the song! Love Christy! Love Neil! Love Video. Great job. Thanks for sharing. On my FAVS.

  • I sure wish someone would download some of these episodes of Christy!!!!

  • LOVE this! Beautiful video reminded me how much I used to love this show

  • just bought the orig series with Kelli Martin for $25.99 on Amazon. That is the Amazon price but there are a couple of New listings from around $17 just make sure the vendor you use has a lot of feedback and it is high I have bought ALL my DVD's, cd's and books out there forever now.

  • I love this! 5/5

  • who does she choose? neil or david? i hope neil!

  • NEIL!!!!

  • I just found out that Kellie Martin was only like 17 to 18 when she played Christy. That makes me respect her as an actress even more than I did before. She did an incredible job in this role!

  • me too. Having read the book so many times, I think to me she just WAS Christy. It brought the book totally alive for me.

  • neil

  • Hey I was wondering if you could do a video of Christy and Neil with the song confession by josh groban? That is a great song for them I think it would be a good video! :)

  • This is a great video. I can't stop watching it. What is this song who sings it?

  • Have to add to the many other posts. This is a beautiful video and even though David is a fine man, I find Dr. McNeil fascinating. There is just something about him. Good one!!!!!! Mary from IN

  • She looks better with David.and David is hot.we had to watch these ep. in Social Studies (: i feel in love with them

  • Actually, I saw the new Christy movie to end the old 1994 series, and hated it.

I just didn't like how pretty much ALL of the characters were different except Neil! It just bothered me.

I wish they could have stuck with the original cast =/

  • The new Christy movies were filmed in Canada, and the producers had to use Canadian actors. They were restricted as to how many of the original cast they were able to use. I appreciate their efforts in continuing the legacy of Christy in the face of numerous challenges!

  • This is the best Christy clip, my favorite...:)

The other tributes I don't really enjoy.

And did anyone watch the new Christy? Is it any good? I want to watch it, but I can't find them....

  • I watched the new Christy first and I really enjoyed it. And in the new Christy she makes a choice between David and Neil!!! But now I've just finished watching the 1994 series and Christy, Miss Alice and David are just perfect in this!!! However the cliffhanger is a killer!!

  • In Italy, was broadcast a few times, but I loved this story!

I am sorry to have missed the last episode ...

In the end she chooses Neil or David?

  • neil

  • I love Christy and Neil!!! This song is so perfect for them! Although i think the book is better i love the show as well. Thanks for posting it, ive been looking for christy videos! Thumbs up 10 points :)

  • is this ripped off the song hallelueijah or the other way around?

  • o ya! this is off shrek! i was wondering where i had heard it...

  • Beautiful

  • In the book she marries Neil...but he isn't married. I think he was widdowed but she was definitely dead. Christy almost dies of scarlet fever and that is when she realizes who she loves. The book is better than the show although I loved the show. I hated that Margaret was alive and also all the "political correct" episodes they threw in that weren't in the book.

  • Wasn't it typhoid that Christy had?

  • Wow! Awesome vid!! Finally we get some Christy vids!! :-D I can't wait to see what you'll do next! Thank you!!

  • Wow!!!Sweet sweet video!

  • I think if the TV show were continued (dumb producers!), she would've likely chose Neil there too, at least eventually. Throughout most of the episodes, it is clear she is definitely intrigued by and attracted to Neil, while she just seems to be putting David off. It's unfortunate the writers and producers *had* to (contrary to the book) bring Margaret back into it; so it would've been against the spirit of the story for her to marry Neil, though that probably wouldn't have stopped Hollywood.

  • >"please tell me. How does she end up with? i have only watched the tv series and the ending left us hanging. "

In the PAX movie she chose Neil. In the book, it doesn't directly say, but the implication is that she and Neil are together there, too. In real life , she (Catherine Marshall's mother, whom the book is based on, with the movie based on the book -- changing a lot of things), she married the minister.

  • Love the video.

What episode was it during 2.09?

  • The Episode is called "Green Apples."

  • I love this video! I watch it daily.... I know...I'm obsessed! :)

  • Hey, I hope it's okay, but I put your video on my iPod so I can watch it anytime. I love it! You did a great job!

  • Brilliant! I love it! That's the ending I wanted to see! Thank you!

  • my god she is just so adorable here.

  • preacher boy reminds me of tag from friends

  • I'm a little confused about some of the posts. From what I understand, Christy is fictional-loosely based on Catherine Marshall's mother, I think. In the book, I felt the ending implied that she chose the doctor. It doesn't say in black and white, though. Correct me if I'm wrong. I choose the doc, however

  • A nice piece of editing. Love the choice of music. I've bookmarked it for when I need a SFM fix. Thank you.

  • Ok yeah Niel and Christy are so suited for one another David yeah was handsome and a preacher but his ways views were a bit backwards. Then there's Niel. He was there to reprimand, argue and really be there for her. He was something that David couldn't own up to, but yeah I with some of ya'll David was soooo handsome but Niel was breathtaking and ruggedly sweet, he really knew her deeply.

  • good job on the video too. can i ask what this song is called? i like it too. please and thanks.

  • It is you (I have loved) by Dana Glover. I love the song too!

  • Me too!! Have you seen the song with the post Under the Green wood Tree? It is beautiful as well

  • I would like to get the song, but I couldn't find in on itunes.

    Any idea?

  • i checked online about the real christy and she really marries the reverand but i think in the show i liked her better with the docter.

  • thats a good song

  • please tell me. How does she end up with? i have only watched the tv series and the ending left us hanging.

  • This Christy is the best ever!

  • In the movies she marries neil, in real life she married david and the tv show did not last long enough to find out. So I guess you get to decide.

  • do they get married or does she marry the preacher?

  • I love what you have put together here. How

beautiful! I think many of us desire to be

loved this much by another. Thank you

for sharing this lovely music and video.

  • I know I already commented twice =/ but is that Fairlight at 1:54?? cause I've been wanting to know what the actress looked like for her. and great job on the video!!! I forgot to say that in my other comments!!

  • Yes, that is Fairlight. She is played by Tess Harper. I think Kellie Martin is perfect as Christy. She is able to communicate her emotions with her face. The Christy on the 3 newer films just doesn't come close to conveying the depth of Christy's emotions. Too bad the show was canceled before they could tie all the loose ends- like Dan Scott who is not in the 3movies and who she married. The 3 movies don't cut it. They changed all of the main characters but MacNeil. The new people were terrible.

  • Absolute agreed! Although I also thought that if they had done the series with James Waterston that it would have been much better. To me, he better suited David as he was written.

Those PAX movies were awful! Like they thought we couldn't tell the difference between Appalachia and the Canadian Rockies!

  • Thanks for the vid. Christy is my favorite literary character and I loved the TV show. Too bad it didn't last very long.

  • wait is this the first actress or second?? i've just read the book its soooo good!! in this video i think Neil and, omgosh i cant believe I just forgot the other guys name!!! they match up with what i imagined, but this christy doesnt, but I haven't seen the shows so i dont know how well she acts.

  • just adding real quick to my other comment, does this show follow the book closely??? or does it kinda meander like other book based tv shows???

  • i want neil!!

  • i got the complete series of christy for my birthday one year, and when i got to the last episode, (the one where shes holding the ring and trying to decide who she wanted) i was holding my breath, WAITING for her answer AND THEN IT JUST ENDED!i was so mad! and then they change, like, all the main characters in the second series, i was REALLY disapointed. the second actor who played Christy didn't even come close! but thats just my opinion.

  • yeah i agree w/ you

  • i love this song i want it at my wedding.

  • I loved this show it was done so well. They really captured the feel of what I imagend cuttergap to be.But I wish they would have ended the show like it is in the book.

  • i luv this video great for the first time i luved the music and everything.

  • I completely luv this video music and all great job

  • i love how you used sepia tone on the ending scene where he pulls her up on his horse xD it adds to the storybook-romance terrificly. ^_^

dang i'd forgotten how much i loved these movies lol. *goes to the library*

  • I meant the show not movie.

  • I never liked David. He was very sissy-looking, and didn't have a good personality like McNeil. Even though David is "supposedly" Christian, he is very messed up in his views, and you can tell this movie is taken from Hollywood's perspective of Christianity.

  • Be really careful about pointing your finger at people who don't add up to your definition of what "Christian" is. After all, to some, your life might not reflect Christ at all. This gets subjective. Don't judge. It's not your place.

    Blessed be.

  • >"Even though David is "supposedly" Christian, he is very messed up in his views, and you can tell this movie is taken from Hollywood's perspective of Christianity."

You can see some influences of early 20th century "modernism" in David's theology in both the book and movie, probably characteristic of the seminary he attended. Of course in another episode, he challenges Neil's evolutionary beliefs (re the origin/age of rocks) with Biblical creationism; so the writers weren't very consistent.

  • Definitely agreed re the "Hollywoodizing" of the story. I didn't like the part where Neil charges Dr. Ferrand with promoting "fear" (of God) through the mission's charitable works. It sounded as if the screenwriters/producers were trying to project their own views about religion through the "Christy" characters. Not only was it an unfair, unbalanced accusation; but something about the way "Neil's" objections were presented (in the TV series) sounded a bit too contemporary for that era.

  • Wow great work. This show will always be the best ever on TV!

  • Chisty and Avonlea.

  • Incredible job on this video. Your music choice was absolutely perfect. For me, David and Christy were always just too cookie cutter 'perfect'; the couple it felt like you were suppose to love and could have settled for but then once you saw Neil & Christy, understood what it meant for 2 people to be soulmates. KM & SFM just had a very natural onscreen chemistry that was hard to deny and impossible to manufacture. The PAX movies didn't even come close.

  • Where can I get the other dvds?

  • Are you talking about to buy? Just do a Google search for Christy the Complete Series on DVD. I have seen it going for about $35 recently. If you are just looking to view, if you join Blockbuster or Netflix online, you can rent both the series and the final movies from them. IMO the t.v. series is so much better than the the PAX movies though, as only one of the main cast came back to star in those. If you want to see how things wrap up, they are still worth seeing though.

  • i got the complete set at walmart about a year ago for 20 dollars

  • love it! :)

  • I like david better but i have only seen the first two Christy movies!

  • wow

  • Neil is beautiful and i'm 14!!! lol. i love this character.

  • i love david. neil has issues

  • Everyone has issues just like Neil. Thats the great thing God loves you no matter how much and what you do. David had many issues also and nobody is perfect he was just annoying!

  • i like david and i think thed be great together. FOR A WHILE . in the end christy and neil r a couple made in heaven

  • Yes, David and christy seemed well together from the start but then it became annoying. Neil and Christy were the best couple in the world!

    Tina :)

  • i read the book. just now its awesome!

  • what?!?! how can u say that? david all he ever did was RUSH himself upon Christy...Neil was a REAL persoN! he took time with christy instead of throwing out a ring like david did and sya "marry me!"

  • i know but read the last sentence, -in the end neil and christy r a couple made in heaven.- i like neil. but take thi in thought. i have onley seen the first three. so there

  • I believe that Neil was the best thing that happened in the story with Christy. They challenged eachother and neil/christy had the true love in the world that only certain people wish for.

    Tina :)

  • pure poetry! i love neil adn christy and i always will....

  • I guess in a silly way I believe there is someone like Neil and Christy for every person if you have faith and believe it can happen for you. I hope someday God can show that love with someone for eachother like they did. They loved eachother especially for their faults and got to know eachother for every kind of emotion one can feel.

    Tina :)

  • Good video...my family actually found the filming location last year during our visit to the Great Smokies. ALL of the buildings are still standing, including the infamous school, Neil's cabin, the Mission house, and the El Pano barn. A gravel road actually runs right throught the middle of the field in front of the school, but trick photography kept it out of the eyes of the casual viewer. All buildings are on private property but can be seen clearly from the road...if you can find the road!

  • this is the most beautiful video! i wish they would have kept the characters the same on the movie but the series is the BEST! and to all those people who don't like the way neil looks. i think he is freakin hot! i do think that i didn't like haveing margaret in the story cause it made that episode a bit confusing but it wasn't bad. i think that neil and christy are the perfect couple. this video was soo great! thank you so much for making it!

  • Great video~

I just finished watching the show.. and I was very disapointed. In my estimation they totaly ruined the beautiful relationship between Neil and Christy by having Margaret show up. I do think the actor they picked to play Neil was PERFECT though! And I don't like David one bit! Never did in the book either!

  • It also bugged me really bad that the movie doesn't portray Neils change of heart. In the book it ends with him praying to God for Christy... leaving the impression that he was no longer an unbeliever.

  • Finally someone who agrees with me I cant stand david just annoying. I never liked him

  • I read the book in high school 20 years ago and liked it a lot. While waiting for the fourth Twilight book to come out, I read Christy for the second time this past week and absolutely loved it (now it's a toss up between Neil and Edward:). For those who think Neil is too old and ugly for Christy, I beg to differ. The book's description of him (rugged, chisled features that weren't finished and polished and his age seemingly in his thirties) and the show's portrayal are quite close.

  • I totally agree with you! I am a young teacher right now and loved the story. I was jumping with joy and crying when she picked Neil finally! I don't know why but David after a while just annoyed me.They were perfect together minds, hearts, souls, and love.Neil I believe is very handsome and christy pretty perfect couples.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I literally screamed when she chose Neil in the newer version. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

  • How could you say that?! Neil was awesome and david was annoying all the time nag nag nag! Neil was the best choice in the world...

  • Sorry, I just have major issues when the guy is almost 20 years older than the girl.

  • That may be true, but at that time it was more common for younger women to marry older men. Even my grandparents (alive around the "Christy" era) had a 13 year age difference. The book also describes Dr. Mac as in his 30s while Christy was only 19.

  • Like I said, I have a problem with that. We don't have to get into a discussion about it.

  • Hey I said my thoughts and you did too. Relax!

  • I can see how you would think that because it was a couple years ago.The thing is older men are the best thing because of a lot of reasons. I am 22 years old and have dated up to 35 and its been great evertime!Everyone has an opinion though and your entitled to it.Just don't disregard a man because of his age.

  • Catherine Marshall based the book on her mother's experience. I don't know if her mother was torn between two men but she did marry a minister (Catherine's father). In the book Christy, recovering from typhoid wakes from a coma with Neil by her side and realizes it is him she loves. End of story. So if you want to say there is a "real" Christy, she married the minister but the fictional Christy chose Neil. (Excellent choice!) So I guess it depends on your point of view as to who she chose.

  • Actually it is based on a true story and its from Catherine Marshall's parents. There is even an event called the Christy fest held in Tennessee every year about it. I am just starting the book now.

  • Ok there are two other dvd that will give you the rest of the story. Unforchantly, the christy we learned to love switches actresses for the last 3 dvds.Well, towards the end of the show Neil accepts god into his heart and starts to believe in him. Its a good finish!

  • Great series but neil is just too old for her.... in my opinion.

  • Christy and Neil got married, right?

  • And this is your first "Christy" video?

You have a quality beyond talent, beyhond art... You put your heart in what you do. Great work!

  • Great video! I loved this show AND the cast. Much preferred this cast to the one in the movies they made. Kelly Martin and Stewart Finlay McClennan had some great chemistry!

  • This was amazing! 5/5 4 sure!

  • What song is this and who is it by?

    PS I LOVEEEEEE the vid

  • The song is "It Is You (I Have Loved)" by Dana Glover

  • I found the song on itunes as part of the soundtrack for shrek, but in this video it's different with the kind of celtic touch in the beginning. Did you add that while you were making it? i love it!!

  • if you subscribe to netflix theve got them all
