  • this guy probably need 5min to make some meth at home))

  • are you from saw??? are you ready to play a game?

  • Delocated much?

  • I like how he says "PISSING" xD

  • hmm, I don't think I will be making this

  • "this impure stuff is terrible" that's what i say about my drugs. ;-d

  • where did u buy the commercial one?

  • We do glassblowing, how would I figure out glass compatibilities? Cool idea! You also mention a hydrogen environment for commercial powder. There are videos on an HHO generator that may spark some ideas for you. Just make sure that is all it sparks!

  • hold on, let me go pick up the ingredients from my local wal-mart.

  • @bunnehsrus make them.

  • Fun stuff thx

  • Can you show us how to make Crystal, my dude got busted :(

  • @dj8083 One of the ingredients is mineral sprites... Go ahead "experiment". Thus I do not take any responsibly for anything stupid you do based off this Info I have given you.

  • keep the videos coming there great

  • i think that the reaction is not completet O.o

  • You Sound like you came from a different Planet.. "Greetings Fellow Nerd" o-o

  • lol lol lol lol scientific words is funny

  • why diguise you're voice

  • BAHAHA "Before you get any stupid ideas and start pissing all over your lab..." You're amazing.

  • This is very impressive, especially all the detailed instructions.

Do you know of any research into how the powder actually works? I can find lots of obvious stuff on Google about excited electrons emitting photons but why is the rare-earth mix key? What _is_ the final product?

  • Whats with the GAY voice ? omggg

  • Yeah, it's so legal and safe that author of this video had to use voice changer 0_o

  • Comment removed

  • why didn't you piss in your powder

  • cool toilet lol xD

  • "Entirely from chemicals we could easily buy or make ourselves"?

    -Ultra-pure aluminum nitrate nonahydrate

    -Ultra-pure strontium nitrate

    -Europium nitrate pentahydrate

    -Dysprosium nitrate pentahydrate

Those don't seem like things easily obtained, much less synthesizable at home O_o

  • @LolzICanFly If you check the video description you'll find all the chemicals linked in previous videos where they are all made.

  • @LolzICanFly they are if you watch the other nurdrage videos..

  • @LolzICanFly i have strontium nitrate standing in front of me right know

  • What if you mix Smash&glow powder with this stuff?

  • what would you use this for ?

  • i would love your videos but the voice disguise is really annoying to me

  • 10 months of expirementing LOL

  • is it radio active?

  • @wanabango002 no, this isn't cold fusion XD

  • Nice Garden you have. :P

  • before you get any stupid ideas and start p***ing all over your lab" LOL

  • really amazing experiment i'd like to try it

  • "this is the first time we used a microwave to create something rather than destroy it" destroy it? DO I SENSE A IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO MICROWAVE THIS REFERENCE?

  • wat happens if u put food colring in with the third example?

  • ru pouring different color chemicals?

  • TO MANY NUMBERS

  • Can i eat litle bit..?

    plz

  • oh Barack Obama, and his interests in chemistry... :)

  • i want to play a game

  • ..ASCK..: what abouth phosphor from crt monitor?

  • appreciate the crushing of my expectations....in order to complete my most awesome Halloween decorations Ever, I purchased the powder form from my local vendor - completely appreciate the process and enjoyed watching

  • AWESOME! can you show how to make dry ice? i rlly wanna kno how to make it :3

  • @tinkerbell798 its the solid form of carbon dioxide and I think its a complicated method.

  • you really do have a nice garden

  • good stuff!!!

  • You can treat silver isocyanate with ammonium chloride. To make urea, I guess you could also boil urine.

  • today how urea is made by pissing all over your lab and recrystallized lol : )

jk but i dont realy want to know how its made lol that would be funny if that was on

    How Its Made

  • omg his voice is so fucking coool *-*

  • Tiberium

  • will this make glow in the dark paint if you put it in paint

  • Your voice made my girlfriend horny. I hope you're happy, I feel insignificant

  • thought this whole video i was like WAHTTTTTT

  • Ye you becha do it right otherwise it will explode and kill you!

  • Perhaps you mentioned it in a previous video, but I'm curious why you didn't synthesize Copper doped Zinc Sulfide? But this Europium, Dysprosium doped Strontium Aluminate is an outstanding Phosphorescent material and you detailing its synthesis for the hobby chemist is an invaluable addition to the field. Perhaps the Morphology that you hint at could be due to an amorphous glazing of glass that blocks a lot of UV from exciting the Phosphor underneath? P.S at 7:45 there is an evil face reflection

  • @marmaladekamikaze

holy crap there is a scary face reflection!!! tht face scared the living shiz outa me!!

  • on the next vedio can you say luke i am your father?

  • I like how you got really far away because the microwave could have caught fire; but yet you put the microwave under a wooden gazebo.

  • @TheBrainParalysis Don't make assumptions. I said you had to do the reaction outside because of the smoke. Thus why i walked away. I also said the door could be blown off. But i never said the microwave could catch fire.

Don't complain about facts that were never actually stated.

  • s that your real voice?

  • i would try a recrystallization of the urea. most cold packs are between 80 and 95% urea. i think it would help by the way it is not made the way you think it is. it is made by the dehydration of ammonium carbamate (NH2COONH4) at elevated temperature and pressure. Ammonium carbamate is obtained by direct reaction of ammonia nh3 with co2. hope this helps

  • Your neighbors never call the police for microwaving all this stuff in your back yard?

  • @snower5554 interestingly enough. no. :)

  • @NurdRage If my neighbors can live through minor explosions and toxic clouds, they can survive a microwave. I have to check on them, see if they're alive.

  • why is it always green?

  • @NurdRage Funny thing, they used to make urea from dog urine. So if you lived in the 1800s, you REALLY wouldn't want to know how it's made :D. Great videos, thorough and informative.

  • IM MEXICAN I DONT LISTEN TO INSTRUCTIONS ON WARNING

  • is this your real voice or did you deepen it?

  • Awesome, but why does it feel like I'm watching some illegal underground video on how to make drugs?

  • @winded307 LOL

  • I made it last week and u didn't work WTF

  • @Mike211L usually problems arise if you didn't purify your chemicals enough, (you need to perform multiple recrystallizations of the strontium and aluminum nitrates). you also need to use distilled water.

Another problem is getting the microwave to ignite the solution, you might have to experiment with different shapes of containers or amounts of solution or even the position of the container in the microwave.

  • @NurdRage HOW TO MAKE UREA SYNTHETICALLY::

first take ammonium carbonate and mix it with ammonia and carbon dioxide. Place it all in a sealed container and heat it up until the ammonium carbonate dehydrates and the end result is pure urea crystals and other waste products. got it from ehow (DOT) com (slash) how-does_5194345_urea-made_

  • @Mike211L maybe you didnt put it in a wooden gazebo

  • @Mike211L well pay more attention lol

  • @Mike211L imagine how many times and tries it took for the first people who invented it

  • how much money did u use to make the glow powder

  • strontium! cool~ B)

  • ...... o.0 SCIENCE LANGUAGE ><

  • Nurdrage! What's the word font, for the warning sign? I want to know. It looks pretty cool. And is it on MAC OR PC?

  • but will it blend

    that is the question

  • am i learning... iwuz jus trying to mess with my friends lmao

  • Are you not afraid of getting a visit from the local SWAT TEAM because they think you are a homegrown terrorists? Messing with chemicals like that in a fascist regime is not safe.

  • But will it blend that is the question

  • "Oh yeah, do not use your microwave for food after this, it will become contaminated."

hmm...I dont know why but it remains me Portal :D.

  • Very cool video.

  • Is it a good idea to microwave this? P.S. the link in morphology is likely tied to chemical densities. Take samples of the really bright and the really dark from one batch to see what is chemically different. The physical structure alone is likely irrelevant.

  • Is it a good idea to microwave this?

  • can i play tennis in the dark with this?

  • 20 people didin't watch the warning, and transformed into Toxic Avengers

  • glow cocaine lol

  • Wait what did i get rick roll'd or what? because i fell asleep

  • holy shit o.o

  • if you put food coloring in it at a point while creating it (idk when or maby just after you make it. idk) it might change the color

  • We need a device that kills infomercials lol

  • The link between the morphology and the glow is due to the incorrect method of heating.

you need to control the heating process better.

I love your videos , I like the deep voice lol

right now my salt batties just died because I used bleach and it ate the zinc off my iron electrodes.

Now I gotta start all over.

  • @azkeyz Show me a video of the correct method of heating that controls it better and the resulting powder it produces and i'll go with it.

  • @NurdRage If you truely did 10 months of research then you surely hoped on scifinder at least once and found a bunch of articles regarding the synthesis of doped strontium aluminates. You need a temperature controlled muffle furnace (or some other suitable furnace) that can be used with reducing atmospheres. This allows truly precise control of the morphology, which is fundamentally important if you want to obtain long-glow and high brightness phosphors.

These ovens can cost $35,000+ USD.

  • @nucleochemist Thus why i didn't go with it.

  • I love how water is the ignition for most chemical reactions.

  • there isnt a 7:55

  • Jeez, I love your videos. If you ever decide to take over the planet can I be your first lieutenant?

  • Meeh...my first experiments were iodium purple smoke and methanol+boric acid+fire

  • @h0meIandsecurity Redneck.

  • hmm..usualy the home made stuffs are cheaper than the commercial ones ;)

  • @Seby9617 so u want to make a light that give ppl cancer?

  • nurdrage, good luck exploring... i hope that you can find out how to get same quality as the commercial glow powder!!! <3 you and will continue to watch ur vids. :)

  • HOly hell i can make lots of money by selling glow in the dark Cocaine!

  • @h0meIandsecurity You're threatening to find me and end my life?

  • Comment removed

  • @NurdRage no, he/she's stalking you.

  • @NurdRage Well that's really immature of him/her.

  • This is what charlie sheen snorts at raves! :D

  • Can pure enough calcium nitrate be made by dissolving ~90% Ca(OH)2 in nitric acid and purifying by recrystallization as with strontium nitrate?

  • haha he sounds like the saw guy ( lets play a game) haha

  • ENGLISH PLESE I HAD NO IDEA WHAT U SAID

  • im not a scientist to know wat 25.30 mila grams of some wierd ass shit!!!!

  • what would happen if i tried to smoke this mhmm

  • @TheJOSEPHJOHN you would be an idiot. oops, too late.

  • @TheJOSEPHJOHN dont smoke it smoke weed and then play with it lol

  • Very well made video.

  • Maybe the substance should be microwaved in a vacuum to produce higher quality powder. Or maybe in an argon atmosphere.

  • um this isnt safe to put in to a plastic bubble is it?

  • Cool man cool

  • ahaha nerdville xD

  • i'm fascinated by all this chemical stuff but i'm dissapointed that i cannot perform something like that on my own (due to these strange ingredients). anyway maybe some day i'll be a chemist

  • dark is the other side... very dark...

  • really intresting

  • i read or heard somewhere that someone had made urea without a liver so i guess somewhere they have a instruction how to do that.. and made those

  • Awsome

  • but magnets, how do they work?

  • just buy them nd dont be cheap

  • I thought the Urea were small styrofoam balls :P

  • Interesting...

  • This was rather interesting...I gotta say in becoming quickly addicted to your channel (I just subscribed haha)...nice back yard too...careful not to blow it up with any other microwave experiment... :P

ONWARD!!! to BLUE glow in the dark powder...

  • you spelled "gases" wrong

  • Omg I think I just died of boredom because of that voicex0

  • why was it two holes in the toilet? xD

  • I love how you're doing your own original chemistry and working towards a better product. Thanks for bringing us into your lab!

  • YOU ARE GOD.

YOU ENLIGHTEN ME MORE THAN THE ALMIGHTY LORD.

( I can't believe I'm saying this... humpff,,.. here we go..) ALL HAIL YOU. LONG LIVE THE GREAT NURD RAGE.

  • You dur Bomb! =D

When doing these experiments do you refer to published papers, orrr how do you initially identify the chemicals you'll be working with?

  • quick question, but what is urea?

  • @Ninjaz27 the stuff in you pee

  • In attempting to make a more uniformly glowing end product have you tried:

    1) microwaving thin films instead of doing it in bulk?

    2) boiling off the liquid first?

    3) using alcohol instead of water?

    4) using hydrogen peroxide?

    5) finely crushing every component and mixing it dry prior to adding the liquid?

    6) doing the combustion several times?

I'm sure there are plenty of tweaks that could be done. Just fooling around until you stumble upon something interesting.

  • yeas, it's interesting, but what's with darth vader? are you... ummm... an undercover nurd? it's somewhat distracting.

  • are you using Darth Vader voice changing helmet?

  • Bwahahaha don't start pissing all over your lab

  • i think i buy it thanks you lost me at this might be dagrus

  • oven cleaner works good on microwaves ya know, a clean area is a happy area

  • nice microwave >.<

  • where in the fuck will be get all this nitrate fucking stuff???

  • @billywish In a fucking chemshop fucker...

  • GREAT just my luck when you said urea I thought finally I can do an experiment thanks for getting me excited for nuthin

  • can you do a video on projects we can do with just kitchen, fridge and garden stuff?

  • too many words! too many words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unrelated to the chemistry, but you have a very nice yard at your lab location.

  • oh cool i got all that in my kitchen drawr

  • I want some glowcaine :(

  • @NurdRage Hello my friend.

Many years ago I lived in a bedsit.

One time I brought a Crab for my dinner. That evening I dressed the crab myself, ate the meat then threw the shell in the bin in my room. Later that night when I was in my bed I saw a green glow coming from the bin. On examination I discovered the glow was coming from the inside of the crab shell. So why would this happen?

Great science lessons. Keep it up my friend.

    Ian (from England)

  • AWESOME dude. Do you plan on selling that stuff, once/if you perfect it?

  • But can u microwave it? oh wait....u did.....

  • oh yeah...I remember having those under the basin...

  • Very cool..

  • just a shot in the dark but have you tried adding food coloring?

  • Def looks like youre cooking up drugs lol

  • I have a small question, not very related to the experiment. How do you videotape what you see under a microscope? Do you stick the camera lens to it or something?
